Fake poll about Karnataka assembly election outcome circulated under name of Today’s Chanakya

A poll in the name of Today’s Chanakya predicting a hung assembly is being circulated on Whatsapp. The PDF being circulated in media predicts 70 seats for JDS + BSP combine. 76 seats for Congress and BJP would get 75 seats. Remaining three were predicted to be won by others. This information was published in a Kannada Daily called ‘Udaya Vani’. It is not clear as to who has initiated this piece of fake poll on Whatsapp as of now.

Today’s Chanakya categorically denied that the prediction is done by them.

Similar fake polls were being spread by AAP social media head during Punjab assembly polls and Congress office-bearer during the Gujarat assembly polls in 2017. AAP had specifically used the name of Today’s Chanakya to add credibility to their poll. It must be noted that fake polls under the name of reputed poll agencies have the potential to influence voter choice during elections.
