The horrific crime of rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua has sparked outrage all over the country. People from all walks of life have been expressing their horror and shock over the incident. Mediapersons, politicians and even the general public have expressed their sorrow and anger over the barbaric crime.
Minster of State for External Affairs General VK Singh yesterday condemned the crime with strong words. He stated in a tweet that we have failed the victim as humans and promised that she will not be denied justice.

General Singh stated, “There should be a difference between humans and animals and there is, but what happened with an eight-year-old girl in Kathua only proves that being a human is a shame on itself. Maybe animals are far better than us. I doubt there would be anyone who has not been unnerved by the barbarity of the heart-crushing crime. But I also want to keep my emotions aside and demand that the guilty should be punished in such a way that it becomes an example for generations to come.”
He further added, “Another thing I want to add is that the people who want to shelter the guilty on the pretext of religion are no better than the criminals themselves. Their support shows that they too are capable of committing such an act given an opportunity. It is for the people to decide who they want to represent. Please do not make us unwilling participants of such disgrace in the name of religion or nationality. Please spare two minutes to think about the family whose eight-year-old child has snatched away with such bestiality. The least I want is for the law to do its job and punish the guilty for what they deserve.”
The J&K Crime Branch has submitted its charge sheet on the crime on Monday and the accused has been arrested. Several policemen were also accused of the crime and have been arrested. The local groups and Jammu High Court Bar Association have been demanding a CBI inquiry into the case.
The victim was reported missing from 10th January 2018, Her body was found in the nearby woods of the Rasana village a week late. The charge sheet claims that she was raped several times and tortured before being murdered.
