Trouble mounts for Congress as workers vandalise party office over Karnataka Election ticket distribution.

As the Karnataka election frenzy seems to become increasingly bigger, the congress party workers were seen squabbling over distribution of election tickets. As per reports, the party workers were seen vandalising party offices in Mandya, expostulating over the distribution of tickets.

As reported by OpIndia earlier, an internal turbulence brakes out in the congress immediately after the first list of candidates was released. The party has renominated 107 of the 122 sitting MLAs for the upcoming polls. According to reports, a full-blown revolt has broken out within the party ranks after the list was announced.

This is not the first time the congress workers were seen showing discontentment. Earlier too Congress party workers took to streets to express their anger. Media visuals showed party workers chanting anti-Siddaramaiah slogans, burning tyres, effigies etc on the streets.

Supporters of ticket aspirant Anajana Murthy reportedly staged a protest near Nelmangala after he was denied ticket for the constituency. The protesters burnt tyres on the highway and shouted slogans.

Supporters of Congress aspirants Uday Kumar Shetty, N Sampangi  from coastal Karnataka who had missed tickets blocked roads and staged mock funerals of Veerappa Moily holding him responsible for the ticket denial.

Similar demonstrations were held in Chikmagaluru by supporters of Gayathri Shanthe Gowda.

The most unexpected note of discontent came from CM Siddaramaiah’s legal advisor and party spokesperson Brijesh Kalappa. He was part of the legal team that represented the state in the closely watched Cauvery dispute case and is known to be someone who the party trusts for damage control.

In a Facebook post on Monday, the senior advocate expressed his disappointment over missing out on a party ticket, not just this time but multiple times in past. He has questioned why a party loyalist like him has been denied a ticket and a new comer has been preferred.

The Congressmen many a times have been reported caterwauling ahead of Karnataka state assembly elections. As reported by us earlier, Congress has found itself in panic mode as a ‘fake’ list of candidates started making rounds on social media. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah accused that the fake list has been circulated to create confusion among the masses. During the run up to the Gujarat Assembly elections last year, Congress workers had vandalised party office in Gandhinagar over ticket distribution.

It will be interesting to see how the elections pan out considering Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is one of the last shields arresting the complete annihilation of the grand old party on the National political stage.
