BJP leader Sadananda Gowda says Congress and JDS MLAs will ‘certainly’ vote for BJP

The Karnataka assembly will hold floor test today where it will be upon BJP legislative party leader BS Yeddyurappa to prove his majority. While the Karnataka Vidhana Soudha has been turned into a fortress in preparation for the event today at 4 am, leaders from BJP, Congress and JDS are all gearing up for today’s final match.

DV Sadananda Gowda, former CM of Karnataka and Union minister, has stated that some MLAs of Congress and JDS are “certainly” going to vote for Yeddyurappa.

Congress leaders, however, are confident that there will be no cross-voting. Ramalinga Reddy of Congress has stated that they are confident of victory. Ghulam Nabi Azad, who has been crucial in sealing the support of JDS after the election results were declared, has also said the same thing yesterday.

While JDS leader and the proposed CM candidate of the hurried post-results alliance HD Kumaraswamy has been confident about his MLAs being in support of the party’s decision so far, yesterday he admitted that two of his MLAs have gone missing.

The number of MLAs from Congress and JDS not being in touch can create a problem for the alliance. Yesterday, the BJP claimed that several signatures were forged in the letter Congress submitted to the Governor. As the BJP holds 104 MLAs and the Congress-JDS alliance is claiming they have 117, a few MLAs switching sides will be all that one side needs to stake a claim over the Throne of Karnataka.
