Violating ceasefire in Jammu & Kashmir, Pakistan started cross-border firing from 1:15 am on 3rd June, in Akhnoor area, which killed 2 BSF Jawans, injured one and also injured 11 civilians. The residents of the area are obviously scared.

BSF constable Vijay Kumar Pandey and ASI Satya Narayan Yadav, who were injured in the firing, succumbed to their injuries.

According to reports, the Pakistani Rangers targeted a BSF post in the area at around 2 am and the BSF retaliated strongly. This ceasefire violation comes barely a week after the DGMOs of India and Pakistan agreed to implement the 2003 ceasefire agreement on the border in letter and spirit.
Recently, in May, too, Pakistan indulged in unprovoked firing along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir, which was given a befitting reply by the BSF, following which the Pakistani Rangers had to ‘plead’ to request them to stop firing. Before that, tension escalated at the international border in RS Pura and Arnia sectors as Pakistan continued shelling in civilian areas. People living in Samba and Hiranagar areas also migrated to safer areas owing to Pakistani shelling which led to the death of an 8-month-old baby.
