“Kutiya”, “Laanat”, “Shirk”, “Qafir”: Annual ritual of Sara Ali Khan receiving abuses online for celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi continues

Her recent post on Instagram has also been subjected to a lot of hate comments from Islamists with some excommunicating her from the fold of Islam, while others resorted to name-calling her and abusing her with derogatory and religio-centric slurs

On Saturday (7th September 2024), Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan received a barrage of abuses from Islamists on Instagram after she extended greetings on the Hindu festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. Pertinently, it has become a regular affair for Islamists to abuse the Bollywood actress for extending wishes on Hindu festivals.

Her recent post on Instagram has also been subjected to a lot of hate comments from Islamists with some excommunicating her from the fold of Islam, while others resorted to name-calling her and abusing her with derogatory and religio-centric slurs. Meanwhile, many users also lauded the actress for the same. So far, her post has garnered over 2,700 comments.

Sara Ali Khan Pataudi, a Bollywood actress, and daughter of actor Saif Ali Khan and his first wife, actress Amrita Singh, has uploaded a picture of herself while praying to Lord Ganesh. Her post caption reads, “Happy Ganesh Chaturthi…May Bappa bring only joy and peace to all of us…”.

Commenting on her post, some Islamist Instagram users lamented why she has a Muslim name when she indulges in ‘Shirk’ (acts that are considered Haram in Islam), and some expelled her from the Muslim community. A few others went on to abuse her with slurs and sent condemnation on her way for praying to a Hindu God. Some others lamented saying that the actress should have considered the faith of her father, who is a Muslim before praying to an idol.
