Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch on Tuesday, October 8, arrested ‘The Hindu’ journalist Mahesh Langa and a dozen others in connection with a GST scam case.
Satish Jha, a journalist with Deccan Herald, tweeted that Langa has been arrested by the Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch for his alleged role in a GST-related fraud case.

Earlier yesterday, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the city’s crime branch and the Special Operations Group (SOG) conducted raids at 14 locations in connection with suspected Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) fraud, leading to complaints being filed against 13 companies,
A statement released by the crime branch said that over 200 companies and entities are allegedly involved in orchestrating tax fraud through fake input tax credits. The firms reportedly used forged identities and documents to facilitate the evasion of duties by illegal means, it added.
“Initial findings suggest a large-scale conspiracy aimed at defrauding the government of significant revenue, potentially amounting to crores of rupees, through fake billing, fraudulent documentation, and misrepresentation,” the statement continued.
