Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who usually likes to wash his hands off as a chief minister, yesterday took to Twitter to pass the buck on to the BJP for ‘failure of law and order’ in Delhi.

Arvind Kejriwal was referring to the two suicides in the national capital in last few days. A 17-year-old girl was found hanging in the restroom of the police post in Tilak Vihar, Delhi, even as parents of the girl and the boy she had allegedly eloped with were fighting in the adjacent room. In another case, one Anissia Batra, wife of one Mayank Singhvi, allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the terrace.
Not taking it lying down, Delhi Police tweeted that the law and order situation in Delhi is under control and that the crime rate has actually come down in 2017 and 2018.
Law and order in National Capital is under control. The years 2018 & 2017 have seen reduction in Heinous Crimes as compared to earlier years. Similarly there is substantial reduction in Street crime &detection rate of heinous crimes has also improved. @LtGovDelhi @ArvindKejriwal

The police also clarified and gave an update in the two cases talked about by Kejriwal.
With regard to the two specific incidents, it is clarified that the Girl had come as complainant to the police post of her own and regarding second incident, investigation of the case is in progress and necessary action as per law is being taken.@ArvindKejriwal@sharmanagendar

This is not the first time Kejriwal has locked horns with Delhi Police. Crossing lines of basic decency and unbecoming of a chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal had described police personnel as ‘thulla’ in an interview with controversial and casteist journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, following which a defamation complaint was filed by a Delhi Police constable against Kejriwal. The responsibility for the police and law and order of the national capital lies with the Central government.
