No animal slaughter in public during Bakr-Eid, Yogi Adityanath instructs Police

In a high-level meet of ministers just a few days before Bakr-Eid, Uttar Pradesh Chief has instructed the Police and administration to ensure that no animals are sacrificed in the open. Furthermore, authorities have been directed to ensure that blood and offal of slaughtered animals are not dumped in open drains. The measures are being taken to ensure that the religious sentiments of other communities are not offended.

With a focus on law and order, Yogi Adityanath asked the administration to ensure that no cow is slaughtered during the festival. He has also asked the Police to ensure the safety of both people and cattle and to be constantly vigilant as Kanwar Yatra is also being celebrated by the Hindus during the holy month of Shravan.

Darul Uloom, Deoband, has also urged Muslims to not slaughter any prohibited animal during Bakrid. ”The Muslims, while celebrating Eid-ul-Azha, must take into consideration the feelings of their fellow countrymen… They must not do anything that in any way hurts sentiments,” the Islamic seminary stated in a recently issued booklet.

Muzaffarnagar district magistrate Rajeev Sharma said, “We will make sure the CM’s instructions are complied with. We have held a meeting with district officials. On Monday, there will be another meeting between officials and prominent members of both communities about the festival.”

Superintendent of Police Omveer Singh told TOI, “The CM focused on law and order and gave instructions that Bakr-Eid was to be celebrated in the traditional way but that sacrifice of animals should not be done either in public or in areas which have mixed populations.”
