Rahul Gandhi keeps giving hints about him wanting to be the PM candidate, but who will let him?

“The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts while the stupid ones are full of confidence”.

The Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2018 got off to a start on Friday, 5th September, with the keynote address by Congress president Rahul Gandhi. While answering on a range of issues, the party President once again expressed his keen willingness and offered himself, with extreme conviction, as the next Prime Ministerial candidate. The ‘shehzaada’ while addressing the summit announced that “he will become prime minister if allies want“.

While one should applaud him for his enthusiasm, the question which plays in every individual prudent mind here is who will allow him to be the next Prime Minister of India?

With the Congress party being washed away in the by-polls the party clearly understands that their only mode of survival is forging a nation-wide alliance. The bigwigs of the Congress party understand that losing the coalition partners of the crucial states will not only crumble the opposition unity but also cost Congress the numbers which, considering they didn’t even cross 50 in 2014. They also understand that the opposition coalition will not be possible with Rahul Gandhi as a PM candidate as many amongst the allies, like TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, Samajwadi party president Akhilesh Yadav, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, BSP leader Mayawati, have already expressed their reservations about making Rahul Gandhi the PM candidate. In such case, to keep the opposition coalition intact, Congress might have to compromise on the post of Prime Minister.

This is, however not the first time the Congress has declared Rahul as their hero and claimed that he is the only one capable to run the country. But every time the party tries to project him as the superlative PM candidate, Rahul’s flip-flops whitewash the Congress parties aspirations.

“People can tolerate inexperienced and even immature politicians, but will they accept a habitual liar”?

Since the time Rahul Gandhi has taken up the party’s reigns in his hand, he has been relentlessly trying to destroy whatever is left of the party’s image with his increasingly low level of politics.

While criticising political opponents is only to be expected, what is disgraceful is that the Gandhi scion has been resorting to blatant lies in order to show the BJP and Narendra Modi in a poor light, which is not one should expect from our so-called future ‘Prime Minister’, (as he might be seeing himself).

Though the list is neverending, let us consider the most recent cases of his deliberate lies, which were exposed immediately by media and others:

A few days back we had seen how Rahul Gandhi had lied during a speech in Gujarat’s Saurashtra region. He had claimed that the Sardar Patel statue, which is to be built near the Sardar Sarovar Dam, will actually be a ‘Made In China’ product. This claim was actually busted in 2015 itself, but Rahul Gandhi chose to ignore the facts and repeated the lie.

He carried on the saga by raising the farmer loan waiver issue, but as usual, goofed up while quoting figures, exhibiting his buffoonery. To summarize, Rahul Gandhi got the “loan waiver” figure wrong, the type of “loan waiver” wrong, and worse, his claim of a “loan waiver” is itself wrong. Two wrongs do not make a right, but, however, three wrongs do make a Rahul Gandhi claim.

Moving on, on 19 March, a statue of EV Ramaswamy (Periyar) was found vandalised in Tamil Nadu. Congress President Rahul Gandhi took it as another opportunity to blame the BJP and RSS.

He was also slammed on social media after he appeared to be exploiting the Sterlite protests in Tamil Nadu to launch a malicious attack against PM Narendra Modi and the RSS.

And the latest and the most obnoxious of them all was Rahul lying blatantly about the Rafale deal. Perhaps the party President has run out of ideas to generate falsehood, that’s why he is recycling the lies, even after his rhetoric have been proven to be fiction.

“The cheap theatrics Rahul Gandhi indulges in, does not befit a Prime Ministerial Candidate”

There also seems to be no end to Rahul Gandhi’s bloopers and theatrics. One after the other, Rahul Gandhi comes up with these weird ideas and statements which are not only an embarrassment to himself but also the Congress party, definitely not befitting their so-called ‘PM in the making’.

Last month as Rahul Gandhi toured the US embarrassing himself on an international platform, he continued to be an entertainment back home. While addressing a gathering of NRIs at Times Square, Rahul Gandhi said that Congress was an NRI movement. He even went on to add that Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Ambedkar, Azad, Patel, all were NRIs, who went out of India, came back to India and used those ideas to transform India.

Recently India’s national entertainer Rahul Gandhi who seems to be running out of jokes has gone repeating the same claim of establishing a mobile factory that would export phones to China and will force the Chinese to use the phones ‘made in’ that town of India. In the last 15 days itself, Rahul Gandhi has promised Made in Bhopal phones, Made in Dungarpur phones and most recently, Made in Chitrakoot phones.

This is not the first time Rahul Gandhi has made such statements which ended up puzzling people. Once while speaking at an event in Singapore, he had come up with an idea of connecting all MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machines or scanners. In another incident, 47 years old ‘youth icon’ Rahul Gandhi had said that the founder/owner of Coca-Cola brand was a Shikanji vendor in America.

Rahul Gandhi, who wanted Government of India to buy Mobile Phones from BHEL earlier has now come up with another bizarre idea. Rahul Gandhi while speaking at a ‘Sankalp Yatra’ in Madhya Pradesh seems to have struck with another brain fade and ended up saying that he wants mobiles, shirts and shoes to be made in Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), (just to remind people here that Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is an Indian state-owned aerospace and defence company headquartered in Bangalore, India.)

The day seems to be too short for penning down ‘Shehzaada’s’ wisdom and intellect, while the list is never-ending. Matching up to his acumen is not a child’s play.

Probably realising that Rahul is one of his kind, BJP had also rejected the ‘prince’ as a Prime Ministerial candidate. Speaking to Times Now, Sambit Patra said, “Rahul Gandhi’s desire to become the Prime Minister is a concern that comes with a sense of amusement to us, it has an entertainment value … look at the track record of Rahul Gandhi. As the vice president of the Congress party, he has been responsible for the disaster of Congress and as the president of the Congress party, he has lost elections after elections.”

It is said that a politician can survive being loved. A politician can also survive being hated. But, a politician can never survive being mocked, consistently.

While Rahul Gandhi keeps dropping subtle hints about his Prime Ministerial ambitions, nobody other than his party members who are beholden to the Gandhi family, and Rahul’s mother seem to be interested in seeing him as the PM candidate. Of course, BJP’s wish going into 2019 is that Rahul Gandhi gets declared as the PM candidate, but their reasons are different. very, very different.
