Hemant Rao, Basic Education Officer, Hardoi informed that a show cause notice has been sent to the Urdu teacher and if his response is not satisfactory, action will be taken against him.
The Basic Education Department in Uttar Pradesh had to intervene in July when it was found that the word ‘Islamia’ was prefixed in the name of a government school. The school’s attendance register, admission registers and teacher’s attendance registers were being maintained in the Urdu language and the school had also started following weekly off on Fridays. The headmaster of the government school Khurshid Ahmed renamed it as ‘Islamia Primary School’ on the ground that most of the students studying in the school were Muslims.
The Basic Education Department, on coming to know of such schools, identified such government schools whose names were changed in this way and started removing the communal prefixes.
