Amit Shah on Friday convened a presser to raise strong objections on the undemocratic process followed by Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress in West Bengal.
While addressing the media, Shah said that Mamata Banerjee is afraid of the meteoric rise of the BJP in West Bengal, which is why she has persistently disallowed the BJP from organising rallies in West Bengal.

Mounting a fierce attack on Mamata Banerjee, Amit Shah alleged that the Mamata Banerjee led TMC government in the West Bengal has resorted to undemocratic measures to obstruct BJP from conducting rallies in the state. He claimed that BJP has made several requests to West Bengal administration seeking permission for organising the rally in the state but none of them has been answered by them.
Shah contended that they made their first request on October 29, 2018, but got no response from the West Bengal administration. Since then, multiple requests have been made but none of them has elicited any response from the administration. He even stated that the BJP has written to the West Bengal police thrice but are still waiting for their response.
Claiming that the violence in West Bengal has reached alarming levels, Amit Shah asserted that the violent activities under Mamata’s governance have surpassed the violent communist regime. He also alleged that the administration is in cahoots with the TMC members in subjugating the people of Bengal.
Shah affirmed that the law and order situation is continuously deteriorating in West Bengal. Citing National Crime Bureau report, he said that West Bengal has seen a rise of 70% more crimes than Uttar Pradesh and 19% more than Bihar under the present regime. Shah inquired about the progress of the murder cases against Trinamool workers, insinuating that the police are working on the directions of TMC goons.
Highlighting the egregious violations of democratic norms in West Bengal, Shah also asserted that 36% of the total Panchayat election seats in West Bengal went uncontested. The electoral representatives were restrained from filling their nominations. 20 BJP workers were killed. Shah claimed West Bengal tops the list of states with highest political murders. In fact, the high court issued an order advising the representatives to file their nominations on Whatsapp.

However, he reassured the people of West Bengal that the BJP is not afraid of the political manoeuvres of the TMC. They will be conducting the rallies after seeking necessary approval from the judiciary in case the administration denies them permission yet again.
