Rahul Gandhi and his band of clowns attack Nirmala Sitharaman personally after failing in the Rafale battle

On 4th January, while laying down facts in the Lok Sabha on Rafale deal, Sitharaman had said that she comes from a middle-class family and not a 'khandan'. Entitled Congress President didn't take it too well.

Rahul Gandhi with his fancy Burberry jacket is an elitist, privileged Delhi boy at heart. Rattled by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s arguments over Rafale deal which prove that Rahul Gandhi is just trying to mislead the nation by lying about it, the Gandhi scion has resorted to personal attacks on Sitharaman.

On 4th January, while laying down facts in the Lok Sabha on Rafale deal, Sitharaman had said that she comes from a middle-class family and not a ‘khandan’ and asked the Opposition who gave them the right to call the PM ‘Chor’, just because they come from a ‘khandan’.

Rahul Gandhi, holding the ground and accusing the prime minister of being directly involved in the ‘Rafale scam’, today said that Sitharaman lied in the parliament regarding contracts rewarded to HAL as well as about her family background.

As if that was not enough, Congress’ social media cell head Divya Spandana took to Twitter to troll Sitharaman by putting out a ‘quiz’ asking her followers to guess who she was talking about. Of course, the foul-mouthed troll was the first to respond.

Congress leaders making personal attacks on someone just because they run out of arguments is not something new. We have earlier reported how various Congress leaders have made derogatory remarks on Prime Minister Modi, from Mani Shankar Aiyar, Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor to taking a dig at PM Modi’s humble beginnings as a tea seller, to calling him Hitler, Congress leaders have said it all.

Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad too has made a casteist statement on PM Modi by referring to him as ‘Gangu Teli’ (Modi belongs to the Teli caste). Congress leader Jairam Ramesh referred to PM Modi as ‘Bhasmasur’ during the run-up to 2014 elections, a mythological demon.

And it was not just PM Modi for whom these personal attacks were limited to. Congress leader Digvijay Singh had caught the spotlight a few years back when while praising a fellow party secretary, Meenakshi Natrajan at a rally in Madhya Pradesh he referred to her as ‘a 100 percent tunch maal’. (Translated from Bhojpuri, the remark roughly means ‘100 percent sexy woman’.)

Congress MP Sanjay Nirupam had also raised strife by bad-mouthing BJP MP Smriti Irani in December 2012, when assembly election results of Gujarat was announced saying, “It’s only four days of your entry into politics and you have become a political analyst. Aap toh TV pe thumke lagati thi, Aaj chunavi vishleshak ban gayi.” (You used to dance on TV screen, now you are a political analyst?) Foul-mouthed Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam on other instances has also attacked the PM calling him ‘Mahishasur‘ (a demon) and ‘anpadh-ganwar‘ (illiterate and uncouth).

So the attack on Sitharaman and her family doesn’t come as a surprise. In fact, the only surprising thing about the attack is that Rahul Gandhi and Congress took so long to get personal with her. Usually, they do so at the first sign of losing an argument.
