Delhi police special cell, investigating into February 2016 JNU event commemorating terrorist Afzal Guru, will submit its chargesheet on the matter at Patiala House Court on Monday. The charge sheet reportedly mentions the name of that time JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya.

Kanhaiya Kumar has responded to the chargesheet filed against him with a bizarre tirade against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has dubbed it a desperate move by the BJP to provide Modi with talking points ahead of the General Elections later this year.

Kanhaiya stated, “If the news is true that a chargesheet has been filed against me, then first of all, I would like to congratulate the Police and Narendra Modi. After three years, when the government is about to go, it is good that a chargesheet has been filed. Although we have been asking 15 lakh rupees, 2 crore jobs and Achchhey Din, I will not condemn the chargesheet.” He has called it a case of political vendetta.

“The BJP wants to play all the cards it has in its hands. Look at the Citizenship Amendment Bill, look at the 10% reservations for General Class or this national, anti-national issue, all these cards are being played so that Modi can give his speeches. A platform is being created for him.” Kanhaiya also remarked that the Government was not serious about the matter as it had taken 3 years for the chargesheet to be filed.

Kanhaiya has been allegedly involved in other incidents of rowdy behaviour as well. In October last year, Kanhaiya and his supporters were reported to have been involved in a violent clash with the organisers of a Durga Puja committee in Begusarai, Bihar. Only days prior to that, the hospital administration in Patna’s AIIMS lodged an FIR against the leftist leader following an altercation with junior doctors of the institution.

Kanhaiya Kumar, the controversial JNU student leader who is all set to contest the next Lok Sabha elections from Begusarai of Bihar, has been a part of several other controversies. His close aide had accused him of being a ‘liar’ and ‘casteist’ and in another incident, Kanhaiya was accused of flashing his private parts to a woman.

We had earlier also reported that how Kanhaiya Kumar had used a disreputable journal, which is blacklisted internationally, to get his article published for PhD thesis submission.
