A 12-year-old Dalit girl missing from the Banda area of Sagar district was found beheaded after a day. According to reports, the girl was reported missing from Wednesday.
As per reports, Rajesh Vyas, the additional SP of Sagar district has stated to media that a family from the Berkhedi village in Sagar district had reported on Thursday that their 12-year-old daughter had not returned from school on Wednesday and could not be found.
They had attempted to look for the girl on their own, but unable to locate her, they had reported to the police on the next day. The girl had reportedly gone to school for her annual exams but did not return home.
On Thursday evening, the girl’s headless body was found lying in an agricultural field close to her village. Her severed head was found some distance away.
ASP of Sagar district has informed that the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. He also added that circumstantial evidence does not suggest any wrongdoing prior to the murder but it will be clear only after the autopsy.
Primary investigations have revealed that the girl’s family has a land-related dispute with another family in the village. The girl’s family has complained that the murder is a fallout of the dispute.
Chhote Patel, a man with whom the girl’s family has a land dispute, is reportedly named by the victim’s family in their complaint. Patel has been absconding. The police have launched a search for Patel suspecting his involvement in the murder.
Law and order situation in Madhya Pradesh has been worsening recently. There were a number of murders of BJP leaders reported in the last few weeks. Recently, two 6-year-old twin brothers were kidnapped at gunpoint from their school bus in Chitrakoot and were later found murdered in a river in UP.
