Addressing the media in Srinagar, Ram Madhav lambasted the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah and called them selfish. While referring to Centre’s tough stand on Article 35A and Article 370, Ram highlighted that NC and PDP had opposed it and boycotted last year’s local body polls but they are ready to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Madhav stressed on the fact that the BJP’s stand on these issue has remained consistent.

President’s rule was imposed in the state in December last year after the expiry of six months of governor’s rule. Mehbooba Mufti had to resign from the CM position after BJP withdrew its support to the PDP in the state in June 2018.
Madhav also took a dig at the regional parties NC and PDP by alleging that they are promoting dynasty politics while the BJP has selected candidates based on merit. “We have rejected candidature of many on the basis of dynasties. We have given tickets only to those who have worked in the party for many years,” he said.
