Today several media houses reported that Tripura CM Biplab Deb has been accused of domestic violence by his wife, after which she filed for divorce. It was reported that the divorce plea was filed at the Tiz Hazari court in New Delhi. Moneycontrol, CNBCTV18, Quint, DNA, AAP mouthpiece Jantakareporter etc were among the media houses that reported the news.
But Niti Deb, wife of Biplab Deb has denied the reports that she has made any such allegation against her husband, saying only dirty, filthy and sick minds generate such fake news for cheap publicity and mileage. On her Facebook page, she alleged that such dirty rumours are being spread to gain political advantage against influential people. She wrote, “I’m boudi, daughter in law, mother, sister and wife of someone belong to our State, they not just try to tarnish my image but disrespected the love, affection and respect given to me by people of Tripura”. She also requested everyone not to react to such cheap fake rumours.
She also alleged that people were paid high amounts to spread such rumours which uses fake evidence, fake stories and pics.
She also replied to CNBCTV18 tweet carrying the report, calling it fake news. She criticised the news agency for spreading a “news based on rumours for getting cheap publicity, mileage”, she added that they are tarnishing the image of a respected female, which is a crime.

Niti Deb also posted on her Facebook account in a lighter vein that she didn’t know when did she make such allegations against her husband. She added that her love is unconditional and pure, and there is no need to give an explanation about it to anyone.
After Niti Deb denied the reports, CNBCTV18 retracted its report and deleted its tweet. It posted a new tweet saying that in light of court documentation, they have deleted the tweet.

But several other media outlets had already reported about allegations of harassment based on the CNBC report, and those reports are still online and being shared on social media sites.
