Poll violence in West Bengal: TMC workers attack BJP workers in Asansol, BJP candidate Babul Supriyo’s car vandalised

The TMC workers clashed with BJP workers who were demanding for central forces to be deployed near polling booths.

In a shocking incident of violence in West Bengal, party workers belonging to Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) have reportedly attacked Union Minister Babul Supriyo in Asansol and damaged his vehicle while he was on his way to a polling booth in Barabani.

According to the reports, BJP Asansol candidate Babul Supriyo had visited a polling booth in Asansol constituency after villagers had threatened to boycott polls following the non-deployment of central forces in some polling booths.

The TMC workers clashed with BJP workers who were demanding for central forces to be deployed near polling booths. Clashes were also reported between TMC workers and the security personnel. During this incident, TMC workers have allegedly resorted to vandalism and damaged Babul Supriyo‘s car which was outside the polling station.


The Quick Reaction Forces (QRF) and security personnel outside polling booth number 125-129 in Asansol dispersed the crowd after they lathi-charged outside polling booth number 125-129 in Asansol following the clashes between TMC workers and the BJP cadres.
