According to the latest media reports, videos and images of Suresh Chauhan, who had recently slapped Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal during his roadshow in the Moti Nagar area of Delhi and had confessed to being an AAP supporter, have emerged, in which he can be seen regularly attending rallies of Aam Aadmi Party.
In one such video, assailant Suresh Chauhan can be seen standing close Arvind Kejriwal’s car wearing an AAP sash. In another video, shot on March 26, during Arvind Kejriwal’s election rally in Sudershan Park, Chauhan was seen standing near the high-security area(stage) with fellow AAP party workers.

AAP leaders and supporters have been trying to assert that the assaulter was a ‘Modi-Bhakt’ and a part of a conspiracy by BJP to attack him. Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia even claimed that Amit Shah and Narendra Modi have conspired to get Arvind Kejriwal killed. Terming it as a conspiracy by the BJP, AAP leader Sanjay Singh asked the Delhi Police to increase the Chief Minister’s security.
However, Delhi Police’s preliminary interrogation has revealed that 33-year Suresh, a scrap dealer in the area, had confessed to being an AAP supporter and worked as an organiser of its rallies and meetings. Although he wasn’t a registered party member, many registered AAP workers have confirmed that Suresh used to help them in organising AAP rallies.
Suresh also revealed in his interrogation that he had planned to strike Kejriwal 2 before the incident. He had also informed his friends about the same but they have denied having prior knowledge of the assault. In his interrogation, Suresh said, “Galat bolta hai”(He says incorrect things).
Suresh admitted that he got disillusioned with the party as its leaders became arrogant. An FIR has been filed against him under Sections 323(assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 153(wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot) of the IPC.
As soon as the reports of Kejriwal being attacked by one of the disgruntled AAP supporters came out, the speculations of the incident being staged started gathering steam. With the attacker Suresh’s confession claiming that he was an AAP supporter and the videos confirming it, many have started to believe that the whole incident might be staged to garner sympathy from the voters.
A few months ago, Kejriwal was attacked with chilli powder. However, the lawyer of the accused person had stated that the attack was orchestrated by AAP leaders. Recently, rumour had surfaced on social media that Arvind Kejriwal has been beaten up by his own MLAs in his residence.
