As Karnataka state government continues to crumble, a Congress leader has come out and said that the unholy alliance of Congress-JDS may not be able to continue beyond June 10. Congress leader KN Ranjanna on Monday claimed that the coalition government will collapse after June 10.
Ranjanna was angry and blamed Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka and Congress leader G Parameshwara for the defeat in Tumkuru where BJP’s G. S. Basavaraj defeated JD(S) patriarch and former prime minister HD Devegowda. He said that the coalition government will continue only till the swearing-in ceremony of PM Modi which will take place on 30th May. He even said that Parameshwara will not be the deputy CM after Modi swearing-in.
On Sunday, two Congress MLAs Ramesh Jarkiholi and Sudhakar had met BJP leader R Ashok at senior BJP leader SM Krishna’s residence. However, they had called it a social visit and added that there was nothing political about it.
Meanwhile, the BJP in Karnataka has said that they are not looking for ‘Operation Lotus’ a term used for BJP’s strategy to come to power where it may not have enough seats to form the government. BJP National General Secretary P Muralidhar Rao said that since the Congress-JD(S) government will collapse on its own in Karnataka, the BJP will not require the ‘Operation Lotus’. “We are neither asking Congress MLAs to revolt nor are we asking them to keep quiet,” he said.
The BJP won 25 out of 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka, where even JD(S) head HD Devegowda and his grandson and HD Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy lost.
