As Congress deals with its existential crisis, the Kerala chief minister, Pinarayi Vijayan today, mocked the grand old party as its party representatives and leaders from various states join the BJP.
Taking a jibe on the switching over of Congress MLAs to the BJP camp in different states Pinarayi claimed that the Congress has now become a party rallying for the BJP. He said, “The Congress is changing themselves to increase the membership of the BJP and the party is in an extremely pathetic state at present.”
Reiterating CPMs earlier claim that the Congressmen cannot be trusted, the Kerala CM said that the current scenario is proof to what his party had said earlier. “We cannot say when Congress will shift stands. The money flowing into the BJP has no bounds. There are many who wag their tails and follow if allured”, claimed the CM.
The chief minister also criticised the mass resignations taking place in Congress. When the nation is in such a despicable situation can a party like the Congress afford to remain an orphan? he asked, asserting that the leadership must be ready to face the challenges and not accept victories alone.
The communist government has lately not been sharing an amicable relationship with the grand old party. When the Congress President, Rahul Gandhi had chosen to contest from Wayanad in Kerala in the 2018 Lok Sabha elections, the Communists had then to, taken offence. They were miffed with Congress party’s decision to fight against them in Kerala. Pinarayi Vijayan had admonished the then Congress President for the move. In fact, CPI(M) mouthpiece had also published an editorial firing the ‘Pappu’ jibe at the Congress supremo.
It asserted that the scion of the Nehru-Gandhi Parivar was afraid of a defeat in Amethi. “If the Congress wanted to fight fascism, then Rahul should contest against the BJP not Left Front. By contesting in Kerala which historically supports either Congress-led government or Left Front, Rahul is conveying a message that his party’s main opposition is Left government instead of BJP,” it had said.
“The fight can be viewed as nothing but a wet cracker. To put it in a flowery manner, the Congress move is a Pappu strike. This will make the party’s destruction complete,” said the editorial’s conclusion.
