The Supreme Court had also ordered the speaker not to decide on the resignation and disqualification of the MLAs till July 16.

The 14 rebel MLAs from Karnataka staying in a luxury hotel in Mumbai, have alleged ‘serious threat’ from senior Congress leaders. As per reports, the rebel MLAs have named Congress veterans Mallikarjun Kharge and Ghulam Nabi Azad in their allegations.

The MLAs, staying in the Renaissance Hotel in Powai, had also rebuffed the efforts of JDS-Congress senior leadership to meet and talk to them.

Writing to the police inspector of Powai station, these MLAs stated that they have “absolutely no intention of meeting Mallikarjuna Kharge, Ghulam Nabi Azad or any other Congress leaders from Maharashtra or Karnataka.”

The MLAs who have submitted the letter are Shivram Hebbar, B.C. Patil, Mahesh K, Vishwanath, Muniratnam, Narayan Gowda, R Shankar, H Nagesh, Pratap Patil, Gopalaiah, Ramesh J, MTB Nagraj, Somshekar and Basavaraja.

On 11 July, these MLAs had returned to the Powai hotel after meeting Karnataka assembly speaker KR Ramesh in Bengaluru.

The Karnataka government had been under threat of collapse after 16 MLAs, 13 from the Congress and 3 from the JDS had submitted their resignations on July 6.

Congress leader DK Shivakumar had attempted to meet the MLAs at Mumbai, but he was escorted back as the MLAs had declined to meet him.

The Supreme Court had also ordered the speaker not to decide on the resignation and disqualification of the MLAs till July 16.
