Afghanistan has further stated that its relationship with the United States is based on common interest and mutual respect. While they appreciate US’ participation in ensuring peace in the region but it won’t let foreign heads of states to dictate Afghanistan’s fate.

In a sharp riposte to the American President Donald Trump, the Afghanistan government issued a press release claiming that no foreign countries hold the power of deciding the fate of their country.

Trump had yesterday made a controversial remark regarding the tumultuous situation in Afghanistan asserting that he could end the war in a week’s time but that would entail killing 10 million people which he didn’t wish to.

Responding to US President Donald Trump’s comments, the Afghanistan Press Release said, “Afghanistan is one of the oldest and deep-rooted countries in the world who has survived through and overcame countless calamities. The Afghan nation will therefore not allow any foreign power to determine its fate.”

It further stated that its relationship with the United States is based on common interest and mutual respect and that it appreciates US’ participation in ensuring peace in the region but it won’t let foreign heads of states to dictate Afghanistan’s fate. Through the press release, Afghanistan has also sought clarification on the US President Donald Trump’s statements.

Earlier yesterday, during interaction with the press, Trump said, “If I wanted to win that war, Afghanistan would be wiped off the face of the earth. It would be over in literally, in a week’s time. I don’t want 10 million people to perish.”

Trump, speaking alongside Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Oval Office, said there exists “tremendous potential between” the U.S. and Pakistan, and predicted that the Islamic Republic would “help us out to extricate ourselves” from Afghanistan.
