IAS-turned politician Shah Faesal detained at Delhi airport, was on his way to Turkey: Report

Faesal was seen issuing threats of violence and insinuating 'revenge' against India in his recent tweets.

Former IAS officer Shah Faesal, who had quit his job to launch his own political party in Jammu and Kashmir has been reportedly detained at Delhi airport today. Reports say that Faesal was trying to leave the country. However, an official confirmation of the same is awaited.

BTVI journalist Aditya Kaul has stated that Faesal was reportedly arrested while attempting to flee the country. He has been reportedly sent back to Kashmir and put under house arrest. As per the Republic TV, he was on his way to Turkey

Faesal has been on a downward spiral after the Article 370 was stripped in Kashmir. He has been indulged in active fear-mongering and was threatening violence over the government’s move.

Yesterday, giving another statement to BBC, Faesal was seen stating that another generation of Kashmiris has been ‘betrayed by India’ and it will spiral unrest in the valley, insinuating that the stripping of article 370 will see another bout of terrorism in the valley, just like 1988.

Known for his usually controversial statements, Faesal had stated there will be no Eid celebrations till ‘everything that has been stolen and snatched since 1947 has been returned. He had also added that there will be no Eid till the last bit of insult is ‘avenged and undone’.

Faesal’s party had a political alliance with another Kashmiri politician Rasheed Engineer who was arrested and interrogated recently in a terror funding case. After the Pulwama attacks, Faesal had said that he gets inspiration from Imran Khan and had advocated for a Nobel Peace Prize for the Pakistani PM.
