As per reports, fearing for their safety, Kate and Prince William may cancel their official visit to Pakistan which was slated for later this year. The Kensington Palace had announced in June this year that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Pakistan in June at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). However, following the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the royal couple may call off their visit to Pakistan.
Prince William and Kate’s visit to Pakistan would have been the first since Prince Charles and Camilla’s visit back in 2006. Queen Elizabeth II had visited Pakistan in 1961 and in 1997. Late Princess Diana had also visited Pakistan back in 1997.
Following the abrogation of Article 370, Pakistan has made several attempts to interfere and make the internal matter of India an international issue. Pakistan even approached the UN Security Council which refused to comment on Kashmir issue.
On August 7, Pakistan had announced several reactionary steps after Article 370 was abrogated by India.
After a meeting of National Security Council headed by prime minister Imran Khan, Pakistan had decided to downgrade diplomatic relations, suspension of bilateral trade, review of bilateral arrangements, taking the matter to UN including the security council. They had also decided to observe 14th August in solidarity with Kashmiris, and 15thAugust as a black day.
Moreover, to create a fear-based environment and to mislead people, Pakistan has been resorting to spreading fake news and misinformation on social media after the historic decision of abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5.
