Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has urged his entire nation to stand for 30 minutes on Friday in solidarity with Kashmiri Muslims against the Indian government’s decision to revoke the special autonomous status of Jammu and Kashmir.
During his televised address to the nation early this week, Imran had announced that weekly events would be held to express solidarity with Kashmiris. Imran wants the entire nation to come out on Friday between 12 noon to 12.30 and stand to register their protest against the Indian government.
Khan alleged that India’s actions tantamount to war crimes under the Fourth Geneva Convention. A bit rich coming from the country that exports terrorism to the world.
Nevertheless, with every door closing on him, these sought of theatrics remains very much expected from the frustrated Prime Minister. But what is surprising is that he is not the only one to believe in such stagecraft. Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi, who himself must be remorseful at his erratic U-turns, today took to Twitter to extend his support to his Prime Minister’s flaky idea.
Afridi in his Tweet called for support from all Pakistani’s and confirmed his presence at Mazar e Quaid at 12 pm on Friday.

He also extended an invitation to all cricketers and celebrities to “join him in his effort”.

Well, it seems that Afridi has a very short-lived memory. He forgets that it was only last year that he had stirred a hornet’s nest across the border after advising the Pakistani Government to set their own house in order before worrying about Kashmir. “Pakistan doesn’t need Kashmir; it is not able to even handle the four provinces it has,” Afridi said during a press interaction on November 14 last year.
However, there are other Pakistani celebrities who too joined the bandwagon. Amongst other’s who expressed support to Imran Khan are Pakistani cricketer Ahmad Shahzad, Pakistani actor and producer Humayun Saeed, Pakistani singers Shehzad Roy and Rabi Pirzada and Pakistani actor, model, writer and film director Shaan Shahid.
