28-member delegation of European Parliament meet PM Modi in Delhi ahead of visiting Jammu and Kashmir on October 29

PM Modi told the delegation of European Parliament that urgent action should be taken against those who shelter terrorists, support terror organisations and use them as a state policy

India is all poised to expose Pakistan for its nefarious propaganda about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir as 28 member delegation of Members of European Parliament will visit Srinagar tomorrow to observe the situation in the state firsthand. Ahead of the visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NSA Ajit Doval met the delegates in Delhi and briefed them about India’s position on Kashmir. PM Modi said that urgent action should be taken against those who shelter terrorists, support terror organisations and use them as a state policy.

PM Modi and NSA Ajit Doval briefed the 28 members of the European Parliament about the development in Kashmir as well as the threats of terror attacks the country is facing. In the last few days, Pakistan has been peddling lies about the restrictions imposed by the government in the state. However, most of the preventive restrictions have been lifted by the government and the continued restrictions in some parts of the state are self-imposed by the people of the Valley on the account of threats issued by terror elements.

PM Modi also told the delegates that an early conclusion of a fair and balanced Bilateral Trade and Investment Agreement (BTIA) is a priority for the Indian government.

Following the meeting with PM Modi and NSA Ajit Doval at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in Delhi, BN Dunn, Member of European Parliament said that PM Modi explained to them about the need for the abrogation of Article 370, but he claimed that he want to see the ground situation and chat up with locals to understand the prevailing condition there.

The European delegation will be visiting Kashmir early morning tomorrow and will reach Srinagar by noon. They will have an interaction with Jammu and Kashmir administration including the governor, and members of the civil society. They are also scheduled to visit Dal Lake. With this visit, India aims to tell the world that normalcy is returning in Kashmir, even as the shrill rhetoric continues to be raised by neighbouring country Pakistan.

A few days back, European parliamentarians had condemned Pakistan for harbouring terrorists and extending financial and moral support to terrorists on their soil. European Parliament member MEP Tomas Zdechovsky backed India’s move to repeal Article 370 to curb terrorism. On another instance, Ryszard Czarnecki, a Polish politician and the Member of European Parliament from Poland said that the terrorists caught in India did not land from Moon but they came from neighbouring Pakistan and censured it for its role to nurture terrorism in the subcontinent.

Ever since Article 370 has been abrogated by the Indian government, Pakistan has been spreading falsehoods about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, in their bid to draw international attention towards the issue and somehow get the decision revoked. Pakistani ministers have indulged in spreading fake news and out of context things to project that the condition in the Valley is worsening and the Indian forces are supposedly committing unspeakable atrocities against the innocent Kashmiris.
