Kannan Gopinathan, IAS officer who had quit over Article 370 abrogation attends event organised by radical Islamic student organisation Campus Front of India

Former IAS officer Kannan Gopinathan was recently in the news recently for resigning from his post protesting the government’s decision to 'impose restrictions' in Jammu and Kashmir.

On Wednesday, disgruntled former IAS officer Kannan Gopinathan created a controversy by attending an event organised by a radical Islamist group, which is notoriously known for propagating anti-Hindu and anti-Indian hatred.

Kannan Gopinanthan was present at an event “Decade of Dignity” organised by radical Islamic student organisation Campus Front of India, whose parent organisation is the controversial Popular Front of India (PFI). The event was held at Talkotara stadium in New Delhi.

Kannan Gopinanthan, who is currently busy giving moral science lectures to people on social media, strangely chose to put his views in an event organised by Campus Front of India. Ironically, the members of the CFI are themselves accused of stifling free speech. The members of the radical organisation – CFI are accused of brutally killing people for expressing their views.

Last year, the members of the Campus Front of India, who are inspired by radical elements of Popular Front of India, had stabbed a group of students over a dispute about wall writings inside the campus of Maharaja’s College in Ernakulam, Kerala. Three members – Bilal, Farooq and Riyas were arrested following the attack on SFI members in Ernakulam. It is being claimed that there were 15 others in the murderous mob.

Former IAS officer Kannan Gopinathan was recently in the news recently for resigning from his post protesting the government’s decision to ‘impose restrictions’ in Jammu and Kashmir. However, his resignation is yet to be accepted by the central government.

Interestingly, days after he resigned it was revealed that the officer was facing disciplinary action even before the decision to abrogate Articles 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir were taken. On July 8, almost a month before the decisions on J&K, the government had issued a memorandum proposing disciplinary action against Kannan Gopinathan on several grounds.

The parent organisation of Campus Front of India – the Popular Front of India is notoriously known for instigating several communal incidents in the country. The PFI members had chopped off the hands of a Kerala Professor for allegedly insulting Islamic Prophet Mohammed.

Besides this, it has been accused by the National Investigative Agency (NIA) of being involved in the controversial ‘love jihad’ cases in Kerala. Recently, activists of its political arm SDPI were arrested in connection with an ABVP worker’s brutal murder in Kerala’s Kannur.

In Kerala, most of its leaders were members of the banned Student Islamic Movement of India. Reportedly, the PFI was allegedly involved in at least 24 political murders in Kerala.

The Islamist outfits Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and its sister organisation PFI Popular Front of India have been accused of extreme communalism and has a long history of resorting to violence against their political opponents. The PFI is also accused by the National Investigation Agency for being involved in love-jihad cases in Kerala.

Another Popular Front of India (PFI) leader is also accused of his involvement in the heinous murder of RSS activist Rudresh in Bengaluru in 2016.

Recently, PFI members were accused of killing 42-year-old activist Ramalingam. The activist was brutally murdered for opposing religious conversion. The accused PFI members have been preaching conversion to Islam.

In December, two people, former members of the extremist Islamist organisation, Popular Front of India (PFI) had joined the IS. The police said that K Sajjad and Anwar Poothappara had links with the radical Islamic outfit in the past.
