The country has been gripped with horror after the rape and brutal murder of a veterinary doctor from Hyderabad came to the fore. The 27-year-old Preeti Reddy (name changed) was brutally murdered after being raped and her charred body was discovered by the police. 4 arrests have been made in the case so far. The brutal nature of the crime has sent shockwaves in the country and Twitter was no different with Netizens demanding justice. Twitter, however, oblivious to the angst, seems to have locked a woman’s account for 7 days because she demanded justice for the victim.

Suresh Nakhua, the BJP spokesperson of Mumbai, Maharashtra tweeted that the Twitter account of a lady who went by the handle @HittsVora has been locked by Twitter for 7 days. The screenshot posted by Suresh was presumably received by the women @HittsVora from Twitter.
The tweet that is in contention by @HittsVora read, “This beasts should be hanged publicly! Shame on us if we can’t give justice to this victim!”. The lady had then tagged the official handles of CMO Telangana, the CM and also Amit Shah and Narendra Modi.
We have learnt that the tweet @HittsVora was responding to was news about a woman being brutally raped and charred to death in Telangana, Hyderabad.
The police have arrested four accused in the case. According to the reports, the four accused had pre-planned the crime after they had noticed that the victim had parked her two-wheeler at the Tondupally toll plaza. The accused assumed that the lady would come to pick it up later in the evening. The accused then flattened the tyre. The prime accused was one Md Pasha. Other accused are Naveen from Gudigandla, cleaner Kesavulu, and an assistant named Siva.
As Preeti Reddy (name changed) was returning home from work a little after 8 pm to pick her vehicle, she noticed a flat tyre. She immediately called her sister, who suggested that she leave her two-wheeler at the toll plaza and take a cab home. Before she could, two men approached her, who offered to take her vehicle for repair.
The woman was allegedly ambushed and dragged into the bushes by the accused barely 50 metres from Tondupally toll plaza behind a line of trucks that was parked near the road. Her charred body was found under an underpass today morning.
According to police, the accused took her body to an under-construction bridge a few kilometres away and set it on fire. The police stated that the victim’s innerwear and some other objects including an alcohol bottle found around 100 metres from the spot led them to believe she was sexually assaulted before being killed.
There is now widespread outrage on Twitter as Netizens see nothing in @HittsVora’s tweet that could or should violate Twitter rules and her account be locked. A woman, outraged by the brutal murder of another was merely demanding justice and Twitter’s insistence that the tweet be deleted by the woman have angered the already horrified Netizens.
