The political violence in Kerala which has claimed the lives of numerous BJP and RSS workers at the hands of suspected communists, is again in the news after the BJP announced a padayatra to protest against the same.
This foot march was kicked off by BJP President Amit Shah who in a strong worded statement, directly accused the current Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan of being directly responsible for the murder of more than 120 BJP and RSS workers in the state.
But on Wednesday, controversial journalist Sagarika Ghose had an interesting take on the whole issue of political murders in the state:
How is political violence (grisly as it is) betw rival armed cadres RSS vs CPM in Kerala comparable to murder of an unarmed journalist?
— Sagarika Ghose (@sagarikaghose) October 4, 2017
Such a response which possibly tried to bring the the gruesome deaths into “context”, resulted in a Twitter user mocking her:
Madam, why are we conceding that there is political violence in Kerala when we have a contrary proofhttps://t.co/3KPhzyVEIG
— Ravi Kiran (@ravithinkz) October 4, 2017
She didn’t stop at that and used the aforementioned tweet as a pivot to make another statement:
Sir, areas in Kerala where political violence is happening. To paint the entire state as drenched in blood is your bigoted dishonest agenda https://t.co/4OhrEQ6G6P
— Sagarika Ghose (@sagarikaghose) October 4, 2017
Many twitter users felt that her response was a classic case of double standards and decided to respond:
Intolerant India..
Lynchistan India..
Communal India..
Fascist India..Remember anything? https://t.co/TVYxx0k85L

Madam, why are we conceding that painting an entire country ‘intolerant’ is part of a bigoted agenda?https://t.co/YEEya9qDuu

L&G, Exhibit A & Exhibit B!
Why you do this to yourself, @sagarikaghose?

To paint not just the State(coz theState was ruled by cute Akhiles) but entire country intolerant for one Dadri is the honest, pious agenda https://t.co/s9wFBZTszW

While one Dadri was enough to paint the entire country intolerant and one stone hurled at a church window made all minorities under threat https://t.co/xfF8UY9r6F

As pointed above by a twitter user, Sagarika Ghose herself had indulged in carrying out such generalisation (which she now opposes), when she sensationally tweeted that mobs were killing Muslims across the country without providing any data to back the allegation, and only later deleted it after she was warned of police action.
