Congress leader Shashi Tharoor yesterday tweeted an image of a dance performed by school children in Parassala in Thiruvananthapuram, the constituency he represents in the lower house of the Parliament. While sharing the same, in his attempt to come across as secular, he identified the little girl playing the role of Bharat Mata by her religion.
Welcome dance by rural schoolkids of all faiths in Parassala. Bharat Mata standing at the back with flag is played by a Christian girl. #InclusiveIndia pic.twitter.com/qjKzm11mZH

He immediately got called out for his communal mindset masquerading as secularism.
Christian girl? Wow.. What significance does that hold here?

I pity you. Instead of enjoying dance you find time to seek the religion of kids. Day by day you are losing respect.

Why did u mention the religion of that girl? She is an Indian and that’s good enough. Very sad to see this coming from you. Shows how u view people.

Creepy pseudo-secularist checking the religion of the little girl who is dressed as Bharat Mata.
This is the kind of “secularism” that has kept the country backward. https://t.co/W0YkjQeBUh

When u politicians will stop this nonsense— aneeka (@goldiciousgurl) November 12, 2017
Shockingly, in his rush to find out the religion of the girl, he forgot to notice that the girl dressed as ‘Bharat Mata’ is not even holding the Indian flag correctly.
He got called out on that as well.
Sir , you have all the time to ask her religion but no time to ask her to hold the Flag right ! https://t.co/2jpnIduvUL

She isn’t bharat mata but “Ivory Coast mata” as she is holding flag that has Tri colours vertically, not horizontally. Nevertheless christian bharat mata ki jay. pic.twitter.com/ojaquzqv9i

Perhaps this is a good time for Tharoor to put an end to his virtue signalling.
