Has Rahul Gandhi again aped a stunt from Canadian PM Justin Trudeau’s PR strategy?

They say imitation is the best form of flattery. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau seems to have found a fan in Congress President Rahul Gandhi who has recently been on an image makeover overdrive. Earlier, we had reported how there has been an uncanny similarity between Trudeau and Gandhi’s PR initiatives after the new social media team of Gandhi took over earlier this year, from martial arts to artificial intelligence.

Yesterday, a Twitter user @WordOfTheFree pointed out a similarity between the PR stunt pulled off by Gandhi, where he wished a 107 year old lady on her birthday.

One Twitter user Dipali Sikand tweeted her grandmother’s wish on her 107th birthday to meet Rahul Gandhi

Gandhi wished his best to the lady, sending across a ‘big hug’.

That’s not all, Gandhi then even called up the lady to wish her on her birthday.

Surely it is a coincidence that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also had a 120 year old Quebec woman wishing to meet him for her birthday. While Trudeau has not yet responded to the request, it appears Rahul Gandhi has gone one step further.

Meanwhile, little bit of looking around Dipali Sikand’s account revealed that the handle (these days on the Internet, one can never be sure whether the person handling a Twitter account is an actual person or a PR team) regularly indulges in paid hashtag trends of the Congress.

Whether or not there is a direct inspiration is something only the PR handlers can say, but similarities are rather too stark. Almost like Trump and Kejriwal.
