Gurugram Police arrest 13 for school bus attack

A day after the disturbing news of a school bus being attacked by goons drew outrage and condemnations from all over, Gurugram police have arrested 13 people for it.

Yesterday on 24 January a school bus from GD Goenka World School was attacked by the goons protesting over the Padmaavat movie. According to a report, the bus was carrying about 60 school children and some teachers. Several goons allegedly belonging to the Rajput fringe group Karni Sena were already torching state-owned buses of Haryana Roadways near Bhondsi when the bus passed through the area and they soon attacked the school bus as well.

The goons threw stones and hurled sticks at the bus causing severe damage to the vehicle. A video emerged later in which terrified school children and their teachers were seen ducking under seat.

Several prominent personalities expressed their anger over the incident and blamed the state government for failing to maintain law and order situation.

A Twitter user posted an image of a screenshot where the Gurugram Police has denied the incident.

However The Gurugram Police soon issued a clarification and stated that 13 people have been arrested for involvement in the incident.

The movie has released country wide today and it remains to be seen if these protesters are reigned in by the authorities.
