Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed a huge gathering of 2 lakh people in Bangalore’s Palace grounds, ahead of the crucial Karnataka elections. Here he was seen attacking the Siddaramaiah led Congress government by calling it a “10% commission government”. This rally by PM Modi marked the culmination of the state BJP’s Parivarthana Yatra.
The rally caught the attention of Pawan Khera, who is a political analyst working with the Congress party. Khera on Monday decided to attack PM Modi by claiming that he had spread misinformation in his rally:
According to Modiji, there are 7 lakh unelectrified villages in Karnataka. Just so that he knows, there are 6,40,867 villages in India. Not the first time @PMOIndia caught peddling misinformation. Thanks Dr Singh for pointing this out. https://t.co/N9WOyzAC8F

After quoting a tweet by a certain Drajsuman Singh, Khera insinuated that Modi lied about the number of non electrified villages in Karnataka.
As per Khera, PM Modi said that there were a total of 7 lakh non electrified villages in the state, but Khera claimed, this was a lie as the number of total villages in the whole country were about 6.4 lakhs so Karnataka alone can’t have more villages than entire country put together.
So what is the truth of the matter, did PM Modi really say that? Here’s a video we created to help you understand the whole matter:

So clearly, as noted from the video, PM Modi is clearly heard saying that there were 7 lakh households in Karnataka (and not 7 lakh villages as claimed by Khera), and 4 crore households in the whole country which are still bereft of electricity. Hence going by the actual video, PM Modi did not make a wrong statement in the rally, as was claimed by Khera.
This was also noticed by other twitter users:
Pawan bhai, I know in the culture of Congress it is alright to brazenly lie, but at least try not to get caught while in the act. https://t.co/ogjZrYAFTO || PM said 7 lakh households (and NOT villages) that are unelectrified in Karnataka: https://t.co/5A6vHRMFIF

Congress spokesperson @pawankhera caught lying, again… PM said 7 lakh households in Karnataka, he thinks it is the same as village… Trying to match RG’s IQ? https://t.co/vvnNOQu7lo

Even though his lie was caught, Khera hasn’t apologised for his tweet or deleted his tweet, but has instead been re-tweeting some form of rebuttals to those who exposed him.
