Congress MLA’s son Mohammed Haris Nalapad brutally assaults a man over a trivial argument in a Pub

Congress MLA from Shantinagar constituency in Bengaluru City NA Haris’ son Mohammed Haris Nalapad has been accused of brutally assaulting a person named Vidhwath at the high-end UB City pub in Bengaluru.

The reason for the brutal attack, as per reports, is that Vidhwath was not sitting ‘properly’. Vidhwath told India Today that the MLA’s son provoked him into an argument. Vidhwath said that he could not sit properly as he had an injured leg which had been plastered. Vidhwath was hospitalised in nearby Mallya hospital.

Mohammed Haris Nalapad was a Youth Congress leader

The accused Mohammed Haris was recently elected as the general secretary of Youth Congress in Bengaluru city. The Congress MLA had been making plans to elevate his son’s profile in politics recently. The MLA had put up many posters of his son in the central business area of Bengaluru on New Year’s Eve in an implicit signal to the public. However, these posters were torn down after an order from Bengaluru mayor.

MLA NA Haris’ other son Umar had also been accused of assaulting a person in 2016. But no FIR had been filed in that case as police claimed that no assault had taken place after a ‘preliminary inquiry’.

Congress expels Mohammed Haris in a bid to save face

The Congress working president of Karnataka tweeted that the incident was unacceptable and that the Congress MLA’s son was expelled from the Congress party.

The Chief Minister Siddaramiah has also tweeted that the accused will be punished as per law regardless of their background.

The official Karnataka Congress handle said that Mohammed Harris would be expelled for 6 years.

The tweet in Kannada says: Mohammed Nalapad Haris, Bengaluru Youth Congress general secretary is expelled from party membership for six years – Dr Parameshwara (KPCC president).

Nalapad’s whereabouts are unknown as per reports. We will have to wait and watch if the government will catch him and take the case to its logical conclusion.
