BJP launches massive offensive against Congress: Amit Shah and R S Prasad call out Congress’ politics of fear and confusion

The Bharatiya Janata Party today went on a massive offensive against the Congress party. First, the BJP Law and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, in a press conference, accused the Congress of indulging constantly in fear mongering and trying to create an environment of confusion in the country. The BJP party President Amit Shah too, in a series of tweets, attacked the Congress for blatant lies and constant attempts to spread misinformation among Indians.

Ravi Shankar Prasad began the press conference by quoting the Prime Minister that fear and confusion does not have a long shelf life in a democracy and the people answer for these with their votes. Citing the Tripura victory as a tectonic shift in the politics of the country, he said the communists have been decimated in the North Eastern states and the people have voted to evaporate the propaganda of fear.

He then went straight to the issue of NPAs. He said that PM Narendra Modi had promised that he will go to the roots of the NPAs to understand it. He said in 2008, the total advance given by all the banks was 18.6 lakh crores. In the six years of UPA rule thereafter, the total advance issued went up to 52.15 lakh crores. Such was the inefficiency of the system that many of those have now turned into NPAs. As of March 2014, 36% of these loans were stressed assets, now that has risen to 82%. He alleged that such was the state of the economy when the Prime Minister was an economist (Manmohan Singh) and the Finance Minister was a super economist (Chidambaram). He added that the UPA had almost shredded the country’s economy and the entire banking system was derailed due to the UPA’s policies of intervention, pressure and patronage.

Amit Shah stated that the NPAs generated under UPA regime is the biggest liability the NDA government received from the UPA and they had deliberately kept the NPAs from being reflected in the balance sheets of banks. He called the NPAs the biggest scam of UPA.

Targeting former Finance Minister P Chidambaram directly, R S Prasad asked why did the former FM sign the order that enabled several Pvt companies including Gitanjali Jewels to import huge amounts of gold? He stated that the 80-20 scheme was launched by UPA to benefit private companies and they misused it rampantly. He accused both P Chidambaram and Manmohan Singh of showing absolutely no regard and honour to the constitution and a total lack of moral obligation when they signed that order on the very day that their government lost the elections. The NDA government had scrapped the 80-20 scheme within four months of coming into power.

RS Prasad accused the Congress of being techno-phobic. BJP President Amit Shah has also echoed the statement. In his tweet, Amit Shah said that Congress wants Indian people to fear technology and hence spreading blatant lies to dissuade them.

Amit Shah also called out the fake campaign done by Congress to spread the lie that the Modi government is going to bring the 13 digit mobile number plan to harass the public while in reality it was only for the machine to machine interaction and it had nothing to do with general mobile numbers used by the public.

He criticised the Congress’s attempts to create misinformation regarding the FRDI (Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance) bill. He stated that the bill is still in its elementary phase and is only meant to ensure that the people’s money remains safe.

Amit Shah then stated that while the government is working relentlessly to bring the poor under the formal economy by opening bank accounts and making beneficiary schemes available to them directly, the Congress has been repeatedly spreading lies like the ‘convenience fee charges’ to create an environment of fear and mistrust.

He further went to bring the Doklam Standoff issue where the Congress again tried its age-old tricks of confusion. He stated that while the entire world praised India’s diplomacy and China had to backtrack Congress tried to spread rumours and create fear among the public. RS Prasad too has criticised Rahul Gandhi on the topic and said that he went to meet the Chinese ambassador while the standoff was underway and his Party did its best to spread panic and confusion. Amit Shah said Congress does not even hesitate to put the Nation’s pride and confidence at stake in order to further its agenda of negativity.

Taking on the Congress’s criticism to GST then, Amit Shah stated that GST has been hailed as an economic revolution worldwide and it has enabled many small businessmen to break free from ‘Tax Terrorism’, but the Congress has left no stone unturned to brand GST as a failure and create confusion and fear among the masses.

Amit Shah further stated that all the allegations of Congress regarding demonetisation have been proven wrong too. Congress has supported black money by using the poor as a shield and while the entire nation was united to fight corruption, Congress only focused on creating panic and confusion.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, in his press conference also targetted the Congress over the Rafael deal issue. He stated that the Congress, which is neck deep in corruptions in every single weapons deal including the Bofors, is alleging the Rafael deal as a failure which they could not finalise in ten years. He stated that the Defence Minister N Sitharaman has made it clear that the NDA negotiated Rafael deal is a way better deal in terms of price, weapon systems and effectiveness.

RS Prasad said Congress has always been technophobic and anti-reforms. He added that Congress fears these two because they bring transparency and accountability, something the Congress does not want. He mocked Congress for leaving behind so many landmines of their own that whenever one landmine goes off, they jump off and start blaming the NDA government.

Amit Shah had yesterday announced that the victory in North East is not the golden age of BJP. The golden age will begin when BJP will rule over Odisha, Bengal and Kerala and Karnataka.

The statements yesterday and today’s massive frontal attack on the Congress show only one thing, that Amit Shah is a man on a mission and he won’t stop till he has achieved his goal.
