12 more terrorists who may get their 72 virgins thanks to Indian Army

Days after Hizbul Mujhadeen commander Sabzar Ahmad Bhat – the successor of Burhan Wani – was killed in an encounter in Tral, the Indian Army has released a list of 12 dreaded terrorists operating in the Kashmir Valley.

The list, which marks the terrorists under A and A++ category, includes Lashkar-e-Taiba’s Abu Dujana, Hizbul Mujahideen’s Riyaz Naikoo and former Hizbul terrorist Zakir Musa. Here is the list of top-12 terrorists:

  1. Riyaz Naikoo, a tech-savy jihadi, is one of the oldest surviving terrorists in the Valley. He is likely to the next commander of Hizbul Mujhadeen. He has escaped from several traps laid for him by security forces in the past three years. Naikoo, who is from Awantipora in Pulwama district, is rated as an A++ category terrorist by the Army. An award of Rs 12 lakh has been offered for information leading to his arrest.
  2. Zakir Musa, which is also marked as A++ category terrorist by the Army, recently released a video calling the separatist Hurriyat Conference leaders “hypocrites”, “infidels”, “followers of evil” and threatened to chop off their heads “if they create hurdles in the path of making Kashmir an Islamic state”. Musa has reportedly parted ways with the Hizbul on the differences over backing the Huriyat.
  3. Altaf AH Dar, Hizbul Mujahideen’s district commander for Kulgam, has been listed as A++ terrorist by the Army. Dar, a resident of Hawara of Kulgam district, was recruited into the terror outfit in December 2012.

  5. Abu Dujana, the LeT Divisional Commander of South Kashmir, has been listed in A++ category. Dujana, a resident of Pakistan, is active in the Kashmir Valley since December, 2014.
  6. Abu Hamas, a JeM divisional commander, has been marked in Certegy A++ terrorist. Hamas, a resident of Pakistan, has been active in Kashmir since 2016.
  7. Saddam Paddar, Shopian district commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, has been listed in A++ categry. Paddar, a resident of Hef Shirmal of Shopian district, was recruited into the terror outfit on September 25, 2015.

  10. Mohd Yasin Itto, Badgam district commander of Hizbul Mujhadeen, has been listed in A category. Itto, a resident of Chadoorra of Badgam district was inducted into the terror outfit on 6 December, 2015.
  11. Junaid AH Matoo, a LeT district commander, has been marked in A category. Matoo, a resident of Khudwani of Kulgam district, was recruited into the terror outfit on 3 June, 2015.
  12. Zeenat-ul-Islam, a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, has been listed in A category. Zeenat, a resident of Sugan Zanipura in Shopian district joined the terror outfit on 17 November, 2015.

Prashant Bhushan slammed for blaming crime by Muslims on ‘Hindutva’

The nation was shocked and outraged after a video of 12-14 hooligans, mostly young men, molesting two girls in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh had emerged on social media last week. Not only the criminals molested the girls, they even filmed the incident and posted the video on social media.

The UP police in this case was quick to take action. Within a couple of days of the news getting viral, they identified all the accused in the case and decided to name and shame them:

The tweet was later deleted, possibly because some of the accused could be minors as per legal documents. Our report is not publishing any other identifier such as the video or images due to the same reason.

Apart from booking all the accused under various sections of the IPC, the police has also slapped the SC/ST act against the accused. They also have been largely successful in their efforts to arrest them, with 12 arrested till yesterday.

Even though the names of the accused are in the public domain, lawyer and activist Prashant Bhushan deliberately decided to blame ‘Hindutva’ and Anti-Romeo squads of Uttar Pradesh for the gruesome Rampur Molestation.

Not just he dragged religion and politics in the whole issue, what made the matters worse is that he chose to virtually endorse a tweet by Pakistani journalist who tried to paint India as lawless society unsafe for women (as if Pakistan is the heaven on those counts):

In any such crime the religion of the criminal rarely crosses people’s mind, but many decided to drop this political correctness and confront the malicious tweet of the lawyer who was a founder member of the Aam Aadmi Party:

Even after all the outrage and facts being cited to him, Prashant Bhushan did not delete his tweet. Perhaps it will take another FIR that will make his see the facts, as had happened last time when he had tweeted derogatory content against Lord Krishna while commenting on the Anti-Romeo Squad (now renamed as ‘Nari Suraksha Bal’) of Uttar Pradesh.

ITBP jawans build bridge in Maoist infested area, pending for 9 years, in just 30 days

Beating the Maoist threat, the jawans of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have constructed a bridge on Tatoda river in the Maoist-infested Kaneri village of Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district. The bridge will act as a lifeline for around 10,000 villagers of 60 villages.

It is pertinent to mention that the bridge, which could not be constructed in nine years due to threats by Maoists, was completed in just 30 days by the ITBP jawans. The official handle of ITBP tweeted:

It could be noted that 12 years ago, then Sarpanch of Kaneri village Halaur Singh was brutally killed by the Maoists for initiating construction of the bridge on the Tatoda river. In 2008, Chattisgarh government had built a temporary bridge, but it was blown up by the Maoists. Since then the Chhattisgarh government has been trying to build the bridge but no one came forward to take up the project. The state government had finally sought the help of ITBP.

Recently, a bridge over the Sabari River in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district was constructed reducing the distance between Sukma and the Odisha’s Malkanagiri district from 120 kilometres to just 3 kilometres.

Opindia.com has earlier reported that the Centre has been carrying out massive development activities in the Red corridor. The Union Power Ministry is working out an action plan to electrify the Maoist affected areas of Chhattisgarh. The Union government has decided to spend a whopping Rs 11,000 crore for providing road connectivity to 44 Maoist-affected districts of India. Under the project, there will be construction or upgradation of 5,411 kms of roads and 126 bridges.

We have earlier argued that development is a major way to fight the Maoists as they fear the “Achchhe Din”. The Maoists, who look for safe sanctuaries to run their activities, are scared of development because they use lack of development as a facade to exploit the innocent tribals and carry out their activities. Once, development reaches deep into the Maoist hinterland, the left-wing terrorists will finally lose their constituency.

In the recent times, Chhattisgarh has been emerged as the bedrock of Maoist terrorism. The Maoists had killed 26 CRPF jawans in a deadly ambush in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on 24 April. It was the second major attack by Maoists in the last few months. Another attack by Maoists on CRPF battalion took away the lives of 12 jawans on 11 March.

More trouble for Lalu: Son Tej Pratap gets notice over false land claim for petrol pump

Trouble continues to brew for Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family members who are facing a barrage of corruption charges.

Now, it has come to the light that Lalu’s son Tej Pratap – the incumbent minister for Health, Minor Water Resources, Environment and Forest in Bihar – had allegedly secured a petrol pump from the state-run Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) by falsely claiming ownership of the land.

The BPCL, on 29 May, served a show cause notice on Tej Pratap and sought a reply within 15 days. The BPCL notice came following a complaint that Yadav had acquired the petrol pump by furnishing “wrong” information.

According to the complainant, Tej Pratap Yadav had falsely declared in his application that he has land in his name for the retail allotment, whereas the real owner of the said land is M/S AK Infosystems.

Records show that Tej Pratap had applied for the petrol pump at Chitkohra on the busy Patna-Anisabad bypass road in 2012 in response to a dealership advertisement published in December 2011. The retail outlet was commissioned to M/S Lara Automobiles represented by him as its proprietor on February 27, 2017.

Reports suggest that Tej Pratap had submitted a lease deed for 43 decimal of land from AK Infosystem Pvt Ltd. The deal was executed in the name of his brother Tejashwi Prasad, who is currently the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.

“On the date of submission of the application for the retail outlet (12.1.2012) you were neither the shareholder nor the director of the said M/s A K Infosystem which never entered into any lease with you (Tej Pratap),” the complaint said.

The BPCL notice threatened to cancel the petrol pump dealership due to violation of the allotment norms which entails that a petrol pump allottee must personally supervise or run the outlet and not through proxy.

“We have observed that you are at present discharging duty of minister for health, minor water resources, environment and forest of Bihar which may suggest that you are not in a position to carry out obligations contained in the agreement personally. The same may amount to violation of clause (10)t and selection guidelines,” the notice said.

Earlier, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi had highlighted the issue of petrol pump allotment to Tej Pratap.

Recently, the Income Tax Department conducted raids on Lalu’s associates in Delhi-NCR in connection to the Rs 1,000 crore Benami land deals. There are allegations that Lalu Prasad had used front company to acquire prime residential property in Delhi.

Lalu’s daughter – Rajya Sabha member Misa Bharti – and her husband Shailesh Kumar had reportedly purchased lands in some of the most luxurious enclaves of the union capital under highly suspicious circumstances. Further, the couple had allegedly acquired a farmhouse in Delhi through intriguing transactions.

Lalu’s family is also at the centre of another land scam – Patna zoo soil scam. His son Tej Pratap had awarded a Rs 90-lakh contract in Patna zoo to a company in which the incumbent Bihar minister, his siblings and mother are shareholders.

In addition, the Union Environment Ministry had issued an order to stop the construction work of the upcoming Delite Mall in Patna, which is being developed on the land owned by Lara Projects Limited Liability Partnership, an alleged shell company run by Lalu Prasad’s family. The mall was being developed without getting mandatory environmental clearance.

Twitter reacts to ‘historian’ Ram Guha quitting his BCCI post gifted by SC

In January this year, people were both amused and perplexed after the Supreme Court appointed 4 administrators who would run the BCCI and carry out the reforms which were laid out by the Lodha panel. These 4 administrators included ex-CAG Vinod Rai and pop-historian cum Nehru aficionado Ramachandra Guha.

People thought that the appointment of Vinod Rai might have been made in order to scrutinize and set right the financial dealings of the BCCI, but couldn’t decipher the possible logic behind appointing an historian to the administrative post which needs foresight and ability to evolve over time. At that time people had taken potshots at Guha’s appointment:

Now it seems even Ram Guha seems to have realized that he wasn’t cut out for the job and on Thursday informed the Supreme Court that he had resigned from his post due to personal reasons. He had reportedly tendered his resignation to Vinod Rai some days ago on 28th May.

Apparently the Committee of Administrators too was caught blindsided by his resignation and people are now speculating if the resignation had something to do with the ongoing tussle between Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli.

The exact reasons are not known, however, Twitter reacted in its own way to this news:

Another activist claiming corruption case against Kejriwal gets attacked in NCR

In January this year, an NGO by the name of Roads Anti-Corruption Organisation (RACO) had filed a complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his brother-in-law Surender Kumar Bansal alleging irregularities in awarding of contracts for construction of roads and sewer lines.

The complaint had alleged that Kejriwal’s brother-in-law, who is now no more, ran dummy companies like Messrs Renu Construction in order to fraudulently obtain contracts via colluding with PWD officers. It was also alleged that Bansal failed to complete certain contracts but got the whole payment due to the pressure exerted by Kejriwal.

A few days after filing this complaint, the NGO claimed that it was getting threats and abusive calls from various anonymous numbers. A month after this episode, the case took a more serious turn when a journalist named Viplava Awasthi who worked for Samachar Plus alleged that he was assaulted and his car smashed by unknown assailants. Viplava had also reportedly filed a corruption case with regards to the irregularities in the PWD and alleged that the assailants threatened to kill him if he tried to further pursue the matter.

Sometime later, Kejriwal’s brother-in-law unfortunately died on May 7th reportedly of a brain stroke. This prompted the same journalist Viplava Awasthi to file an FIR demanding investigations into the death of Surender Kumar Bansal which he claimed was under “highly suspicious circumstances”.

Now as if all this wasn’t enough, the things have taken a really serious turn. It was reported that bullets were fired at the car of Rahul Sharma, the founder of RACO. It was reported that Sharma and his cousin were travelling towards Ghaziabad at 12 noon yesterday when two people on a bike wearing helmets overtook their car and fired at the front windshield before fleeing. Rahul and his cousin thankfully escaped unhurt. Rahul has claimed that the attack was due to the PWD scam case he was pursuing.

A CCTV camera has also captured the frightening incident:

Also as reported here, the assailants hadn’t fired in order to scare Rahul but they had every intention to hurt him, possibly murder him. Rahul has claimed that had he not ducked, the bullets would have definitely hit him. After the shots were fired, passersby and security guards from nearby building reached the spot and caused a commotion, prompting the assailants to flee.

Rahul again pointed out that he till date has filed about 200-250 RTIs with regards to the Delhi PWD’s work and has either received ambiguous or no replies in return. He has also claimed that there is evidence of discrepancies amounting to Rs 35-40 crores.

How media selectively reported about IIT Madras student beaten up for eating beef

Ever since the Central Government issued a notification that restricted the sale of cattle for slaughter purposes in cattle markets, various groups seem to be hell bent to carry out various attention grabbing antics even though the notification does not ban either beef or cow slaughter in states where it is allowed.

On lines of Youth Congress workers slaughtering a cow in full public view, some students of IIT Madras too wanted to do their bit and reportedly organised a beef eating ‘festival’ at the campus on Sunday night. Following it, reports in the media emerged that a PhD student by the name of R. Sooraj, who had taken part in that beef fest, was attacked on Tuesday by certain students with allegiances to Right Wing groups.

The reports claimed that R Sooraj, who was part of a Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle, was ironically having lunch at a vegetarian mess with a friend when a student named Manish asked him if he had eaten beef at the festival. He was then suddenly surrounded by 7-8 students and before he could react, was hit behind the head by Manish. Picture of him with a swollen eye was splattered across media platforms.

However, that appears just one side of a story which the media chose to highlight. According to SG Suryah, the Vice President of the BJP’s Tamil Nadu youth wing, Sooraj himself is an aggressor who has injured Manish in a much worse way. Suryah pointed out that the Ambedkar Peryar Study Circle, of which Sooraj was a member, had a history of indulging in violence at the campus. Suryah also denied the reports that it was Manish had any links to Right Wing organisations.

Suryah then put forth the version of events which he claims were largely ignored by the media. He claims that Manish saw Sooraj at the Jain mess and asked him what he was doing there after organizing a beef party. This evolved into a verbal spat in which Sooraj made some provocative statements. This resulted in a fight between the two and unlike what the media reported, Manish suffered a fracture on his hand while Sooraj suffered injuries below his eyes.

According to the BJP leader, Sooraj had made provocative statements like he would feed Manish beef and even cut Manish to pieces and eat him. The BJP leader also posted the picture of an injured Manish who had to go through an operation:

This version of events as narrated by the BJP leader were reiterated in this report which carried a quote from an IIT Madras spokesperson. The spokesperson also claimed that it was an altercation between two students and both suffered injuries.

After this version started coming out, people expressed their anger over a large section of the media not reporting the whole story:

One commented on the possible root of the problem:

The incident also reminded people of the fracas at Ramjas college in Delhi University earlier this year, where media had not reported about violence by leftists goons on the campus. In fact, the goons were paraded as victims on many occasions.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Germany gets extensive coverage in German media

0

Prime Minister Modi is currently on a four nation tour in Europe and Russia. The visit started with the European economic bellweather Germany. PM Modi had successful meetings with Chancellor Merkel and the German business leaders.

It is interesting to note that previous visits of Indian PMs in Germany had not received extensive coverage in German media. However, things changed this time around.

There are multiple reasons for this. For one, PM Modi had a track record to back him and convince the business fraternity. Secondly, PM Modi smartly was deferential to Chancellor Merkel. He respected her stature as a global leader and asked her to help Indian interests in European Union.

Finally, US President Trump always finds a way to be in news. In this case, he inadvertently helped India. Trump tweeted on 30th May that Germany has not been paying it’s fair share in NATO and trade deals. Chancellor Merkel hit back, with PM Modi alongside her, declaring that Germany has India by its side and she will increase trade ties with India. This can be seen together with her statement during the weekend that Germany has to look for other avenues, as USA is no longer a reliable partner.

The importance of this visit was not lost on the German media, who prominently covered the developments. Here are the key newspapers:

WELT / N24 said: “Germany wants to expand its relationship with India massively

Germany’s premium business newspaper highlighted PM Modi’s statement “We are made for each other

Süddeutsche Zeitung said “Hope comes from the East” – to contrast Indo-German relation with that of ongoing German-US upheaval.

Süddeutsche Zeitung also said, “Modi and Merkel close a deal worth close to a billion“.

Another newspaper highlighted India as the next best hope for Germany after Trump’s tirade on twitter, “India will profit from Germany’s Trump-problem“.

Not only German newspapers, but analysts across Europe also took note of this visit. Web publication Politico highlighted PM Modi’s initiation to restart EU-India trade talks.

Near future will tell us how much of this will help India on the ground. But if recent local polls in Germany are any indication, then we can expect Chancellor Merkel to win again this year. This will drive the next level of relations between India and Germany, as both leaders mentioned in their press interaction.

Hizbul Mujahideen poised for brutal infighting after the death of Sabzar Bhat

Hizbul commander Sabzar Bhat the self styled successor to Burhan Wani was gunned down by security forces on Saturday in South Kashmir’s Pulwama District. This encounter was accompanied with further success after the armed forces also killed 7 terrorists in various encounters in the state.

Now according to reports, the terror organization Hizbul Mujahideen might be in for a brutal infighting after there are at least three terrorists vying for that now vacant commander post. Reports claim that former commander Riyaz Naiko and Saddam, who till 2014 was part of the Lashkar-e-taiba, are staking their claim.

They are being challenged by Saddam Paddhar and Yasin Ethu and this is leading experts to believe that an infighting is on the cards. There are also claim that a terrorist named Zakir Musa an ex-Hizbul man has decided to form his own terrorist organization which will be openly stating its intent to establish sharia and make it an Islamic fight.

This move by Zakir Musa does raise eyebrows as normally the separatist organizations have tried to appeal to Islamic Radicals while pretending to be involved in a political struggle in order to justify their actions to the rest of the world. It remains to be seen if Zakir Musa’s outright proclamation of carrying out an Islamist movement might mean that those who have silently supported the ‘movement’ might finally wake up to face the facts.

The report also claims that an even bigger inter-terror organizational fight can soon break out due to a dispute over resource sharing. Reportedly there are currently 200 terrorists active in South Kashmir out which 110 are homegrown. The two major organizations they are attached to are the Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-taiba.

Security agencies have claimed that they have been successful to a large extent in stifling the funding from Pakistan which these organizations get. They used to split up the funds from Pakistan among themselves but with the resources quickly dwindling they have tried to focus on indigenous sources which too haven’t yielded results. Hence this is leading people to believe that the terrorists might indulge in an outright conflict to grab whatever resources are available.

Such an infighting is not a new thing. We had recently reported how 6 Naxals of the Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC) had ended up killing each other over a dispute in sharing of their illegally earned money.
