‘Perhaps USA was right’: As Delhi HC issues notice to JKLF on NIA’s demand to give Yasin Malik death penalty: What was said in court about Osama Bin Laden

The Delhi High Court on Monday issued notice to the banned organisation Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) led by leader Yasin Malik on National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) appeal seeking the death penalty for his involvement in a terror funding case.

NIA argued that it’s a “rarest of rare cases”. The Trial Court last year awarded life imprisonment to Yasin Malik, a separatist leader from J-K, in a terror funding case.

The Division Bench of Siddharth Mridul and Justice Talwant Singh after noting down the submissions made, issued notice to Yasin Malik through Jail superintendent as Yasin Malik is lodged in Tihar Jail. He is the sole respondent in the appeal, note the court.

Meanwhile, the bench also issued a production warrant for Yasin Malik to be present before the Court on the next date of hearing on August 9, 2023.

The court also issued notice on the NIA application for condonation of delay in filing the appeal. The court also summoned trial court records in the matter. During submissions, Solicitor General submitted that he is tactfully pleading guilty. On that, the Delhi HC bench replied, “As is his Constitutional right…”

Then SG Mehta submitted that, If Osama Bin Laden was before this Court, he would also get the same treatment.

On that High Court said, Bin Laden never faced trial anywhere. SG said, “Perhaps the USA was right…”

Appearing for NIA, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta also submitted that Yasin Malik is responsible for killing four IAF personnel and kidnapping Rubaiya Sayeed. He also submitted that Four terrorists, who were released after the kidnapping masterminded the 26/11 Bombay attacks.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta appeared for NIA and submitted that the accused Malik crossed over to Pakistan in the 1980s to recieve training in handling weapons. ISI helped him to become head of JKLF.

NIA in its appeal submitted that if such dreaded terrorists are not given capital punishment only on the ground that they have pleaded guilty, then the same will result in complete erosion of the sentencing policy of the country and will result in the creation of a device, whereby, such dreaded terrorist after indulging, waging and spearheading an “act of war against the state”, in case caught, would have a way out to avoid capital punishment.

NIA in its appeal stated that the crime committed by such dreaded terrorists, where due to their ‘act of war’, the nation has lost its valuable soldiers and has perpetrated irreparable grief not only to the family members of the soldiers but to the entire nation.

NIA stated that the accused over decades has been indulging and spearheading terrorist activities in the valley and with the help of dreaded foreign terrorist organisations, having interest inimical to India, has been masterminding, planning, engineering and executing armed rebellion in the valley in an attempt to usurp the sovereignty and integrity of a part of India.

NIA in its appeal before Delhi HC further stated that the offences committed by the respondent accused are ex-facie acts of “external aggression”, brazenly planned and executed by “acts of waging war against the nation” whereby “internal disturbance” was created through raising and using trained armed militia within the state and by helping trained terrorist, raised in enemy states, to infiltrate the borders of India to participate and catalyse such internal disturbances.

Earlier on May 25, 2023, the trial court Judge while sentencing life imprisonment to JKLF leader Yasin Malik in a terror funding case said, “In my opinion, there was no reformation of this convict. It may be correct that the convict may have given up the gun in the year 1994, but he had never expressed any regret for the violence he had committed prior to the year 1994.”

It is to be noticed that, when he claimed to have given up the path of violence after the year 1994, the government of India took it at face value and gave him an opportunity to reform and in good faith, tried to engage in a meaningful dialogue with him and as admitted by him, gave him every platform to express his opinion, said NIA Judge Praveen Singh.

The NIA Court further said that the crimes for which the convict has been convicted are of a very serious nature. These crimes were intended to strike at the heart of the idea of India and intended to forcefully succeed J-K from Union Of India (UOI).

“The crime becomes more serious as it was committed with the assistance of foreign powers and designated terrorists. The seriousness of the crime is further increased by the fact that it was committed behind the smoke screen of an alleged peaceful political movement,” added the trial court.

“The manner of the commission of a crime, and the kind of weaponry used in the crime lead me to the conclusion that the crime in question would fail the test of rarest of rare cases,” NIA Judge Praveen Singh said.

The NIA court while sentencing life imprisonment to Malik also imposed a fine of above Rs 10 lakh. He was sentenced to life imprisonment twice (one for waging war against the nation and one in UAPA sec 17 raising funds for terror act).

NIA had sought the death penalty for the separatist leader who was convicted on May 19. The court while convicting him had said, “In view of the plea of the guilt, accused Mohd. Yasin Malik @ Aslam is hereby convicted for the offences punishable u/s 120B IPC, 121 IPC, 121A IPC, 13 UAPA r/w 120B IPC, 15 UAPA r/w 120B IPC, 17 UAPA, 18 UAPA, 20 UAPA, 38 UAPA and 39 UAPA.”

The NIA charge sheet submitted in the case stated that the Central Government received credible information that Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Amir of Jammat-ud-Dawah and the secessionist and separatist leaders including the members of Hurriyat Conference have been acting in connivance with active militants of proscribed terrorist organizations like HM, LeT etc. for raising, receiving and collecting funds domestically and abroad through various illegal channels including hawala.

The NIA also stated before the court that this has been done for funding separatist and terrorist activities in J-K and as such, they have entered into a larger conspiracy for causing disruption in the valley by way of pelting stones on security forces, systematically burning schools, damage to public property and waging war against India.

Sahil, who stabbed Sakshi over 20 times and brutally murdered her in Delhi’s Shahbad Diary area, arrested

In a horrific murder case from Delhi Shahbad Dairy area, a 16-year-old girl named Sakshi was brutally killed by her ‘friend’ Sahil. In the murder, which has been caught on CCTV camera, Sakshi was stabbed over 20 times and then her head was crushed using a boulder by Sahil.

News has now emerged that Sahil, the man who brutally stabbed and murdered Sakshi has been arrested by the police.

The victim was on her way to attend a birthday party of her friend’s son when Sahil stopped her and started attacking her with a knife. In the brutal attack, Sahil kept stabbing the victim repeatedly and later picked up a concrete block to crush her head.

Sakshi and Sahil were reportedly in a relationship and had an ugly fight a day before the murder. Delhi Police have registered an FIR in the case following a complaint by the victim’s father.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner of Police Suman Nalwa said that the murder case was reported yesterday and a team has been formed to investigate the case.

This is the second incident of a teen getting stabbed to death in Delhi in recent days with an 18-year-old boy being stabbed to death by a group of boys earlier this month.

What happens to the old parliament building now that a new one has been constructed: What we know so far

On May 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Parliament House in New Delhi. The new building has an increased seating capacity for the MPs. It has modern infrastructure and state-of-the-art construction that can save the building from any unforeseen event. As both the houses, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will function from the new building, the question arises what will happen to the old building now?

While there are speculations about what would happen to the old building, it is pertinent to note that considering the historic importance of the old building, the Government of India under PM Modi has already announced that the old building will be restored and repurposed. In 2021, when the Central Vista project was launched, the Union Government announced they would be restoring the old Parliament building. In March of that year, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri told Rajya Sabha that the old building will be repaired and made available for alternative use.

Though it is not confirmed for what purpose the building will be used, there is a possibility that it will be converted into a museum. Not to forget, PM Modi in his 101 Mann Ki Baat address, talked in detail about the museums of India and their importance. Converting the old building into a museum will give a chance to the public to witness the inside of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. However, in 2021, Puri said in an interview that the building would not be converted into a museum. The actual repurpose of the old Parliament building is yet to be announced by the government.

One thing is confirmed that the government is not going to demolish the old building considering its archaeological and historic significance. Since independence, the old Parliament Building has witnessed a lot. While there are hundreds of memories of India’s progress are attached to the old building, the horrific attack of 2001 is also part of its history.

After India’s independence on August 15, 1947, the building that was in use since 1927, served as Constituent Assembly from 1947 to 1950. After the Constitution of India was created under the Presidency of the first President of India Rajendra Prasad, the building housed Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for 73 years, from 1950 to 2023.

Why a new building?

There are several reasons behind the construction of the new building. First of all, the old building was showing signs of distress and overutilization. There was not enough space for offices for all the MPs, union ministers, ministers of state and departments. Furthermore, the building was not constructed to accommodate modern amenties and technology.

The construction of the new building was started in 2021. It took two years and around 60,000 workers to construct the building in record time.

Love Jihad in Uttar Pradesh: Naved traps Dalit girl by posing as Hindu and rapes her, poisons her to death for refusing to convert to Islam

A distressing incident involving love jihad has come to the fore from the Shahjahanpur area in Uttar Pradesh. A 23-year-old Dalit woman, identified as Seema Gautam, was trapped in a love affair, raped, forcefully converted to Islam and later poisoned to death. Two accused, namely Mohd Naved and Farhan Khan have been taken into custody. The police are on the lookout for the third accused, Mustaquim.

The case came to the fore on Saturday, May 27, when the woman was taken to a hospital in Lakhimpur Kheri, where doctors declared her dead.

According to reports, the Dalit woman was three months pregnant when she was poisoned to death by her partner Naved after she refused to convert to Islam. Naved had presented himself as a Hindu to befriend the woman, raped her and started forcing her to convert to Islam using her objectionable pictures. She became pregnant. Later, when she refused to convert to Islam, Naved with the help of his aides, killed her by giving her poison.

Speaking about the incident, the Shahjanpur police said that when Naved brought the victim to the hospital with his aide Farhan, he initially identified her as his wife, Zoya Siddiqui. On being questioned strictly, he divulged the truth. He confessed that the victim’s real name was Seema Gautam and they were in a live-in for the last one and a half years.

According to the police, the deceased victim Seema Gautam, hailing from Paliakalan in Lakhimpur, worked as a receptionist at Dr Shroff Eye Charitable Hospital in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. She met Naved at her workplace. Naved introduced himself as a Hindu to trap Seema in his love trap. The duo began living together in a rented house in Shahjahanpur.

At around 1 pm on Saturday (May 27), Seema Gautam was brought to the hospital in Lakhimpur Kheri in critical condition by Naved and his accomplice Farhan Khan. The duo told hospital authorities that the woman was Zoya Siddiqui, wife of Naved, during the admission, police said.

The hospital staff, however, found their activities suspicious as they both tried to flee after coming to know the woman had died. Both were caught. It was found they had entered incorrect details in the hospital records. Subsequently, the police were informed.

Following interrogation, police said the couple was living together for the last one-and-a-half years and the woman was pregnant. The accused were exerting pressure on her to change her religion, they said.

Based on the complaint lodged by the brother of the deceased, a case was registered against Naved, Mustaquim and Farhan under sections of the Indian Penal Code, Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe Act and Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act.

Police said Naved and Farhan are in jail while Mustaquim is absconding.

Meanwhile, levelling serious allegations against Mohd Naved and his associates, Seema Gautam’s brother told the police that Naved posed as a Hindu to trap his sister in a love affair and moved into a rented house with her. He established physical relations with her and made her obscene videos. He started using the videos to pressurise her into embrace Islam. When Seema became pregnant she shared her ordeal with her family members. It was when Seema refused to accede to Naved’s conversion demands, Naved and his accomplices administered poison to Seema and killed her.

While the relatives of the deceased have demanded harsh punishment for the perpetrators, members of the Bajrang Dal, who rushed to the hospital after learning of the murder of a Hindu girl, warned that they would take to the streets to protest if strict and speedy action is not taken against the accused.

The also raised concerns over the high-scale conspiracy that is being hatched in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur where susceptible and vulnerable Hindu women are being targeted and exploited by Muslim men in the name of ‘love,’ and later either forcefully converted them to Islam, pushed into terrorism, groomed or murdered and raped.

‘The Kerala Story’ producer gets note threatening to bomb a theatre screening movie in Mauritius, increases security: Details

Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s recently released hit “The Kerala Story” has been attracting admiration and interest from all over the world. Although the movie set a number of records and has won over the public, its plot has drawn criticism from some, especially from the leftist Islamist cabal.

Vipul Amrutal recently increased the security after he received a threatening note claiming to bomb a theatre screening of ‘The Kerala Story’ in Mauritius. A threat to plant explosives at the cinema in response to the showing of the movie ‘The Kerala Story’ was conveyed to him by a Mauritius-based theatre chain in an attachment marked ‘MCine.’ It is being reported that the threatening note was sent by suspected supporters of ISIS.

“Sir / Madam: Mcine will be destroyed tomorrow as we are planting some bombs in your bloody cinema, you want to see the cinema, ok tomorrow you will see a very good cinema. Mark our words, Tomorrow Friday. Planting Bombs for The Kerala Story in Mcine,” the note read.

Since its theatrical release, ‘The Kerala Story’ has occupied centre stage. While effectively touching viewers’ emotions, the movie is also making good revenue and establishing a reputation for itself internationally. ‘The Kerala Story’ has earned more than 200 crores at the Indian box office, yet it is still playing to audiences all throughout the nation.

The multilingual project, featuring Adah Sharma and written and directed by Sudipto Sen, has garnered a lot of attention since the makers released its trailer. Liberals and the opposition particularly the Left and the Congress have labeled it as a propaganda piece and demanded a ban on its screening.

The movie revolves around Shalini Unnikrishnan, played by Adah Sharma, an innocent Hindu woman from Kerala, who is brainwashed by her Muslim friend and gets converted to Islam and marries a Muslim man. The lead actress soon realizes that she has been trapped in a huge terrorist web after she is raped, separated from her only child, and then forced to serve as a sex slave.

Love Jihad in Odisha: Protest in Bhubaneswar after attempts were made to brainwash and convert a 27-year-old Hindu girl

On Sunday, May 28, a group of youths held a protest in Bhubaneswar against love jihad in the state of Odisha after a case came to light in the state capital. Following the news of a love jihad case, the protestors shouted slogans against it and held placards with ‘Save Hindu girls’ and ‘Love Jihad will not be tolerated on Lord Jagannath’s land’ written on them.

As per an Odisha TV report, one of the protestors said, “We recently watched The Kerala Story, but never thought such an incident would happen in our neighbourhood, that too on the outskirts of the capital city, Bhubaneswar. We strongly oppose Love Jihad. We demand strong action against the accused in Khordha case and urge the administration to find out who are the masterminds behind such incidents.”

This protest was carried out after a recent case of love jihad in the state involving a 27 years old Hindu girl. The girl recently lodged a complaint with the Khordha Model Police station saying that a youth brainwashed her into converting to Islam with the false promise of marriage. The girl was apparently in a relationship for 8 years with the boy.

In her complaint, the girl has said that the youth developed a relationship with her while hiding his real identity. He developed physical relations with her and later threatened to make her nude videos viral and continued to maintain physical relations with her.

As per the girl’s complaint, the accused has similar relations with many girls and is now even set to marry one of them. He has been arrested by the police following the girl’s complaint.

The girl has also said that there is a threat to her life as the accused has connections with the local politicians.

The ‘Ruler vs the Ruled’ Culture and Babudom: It is time the Modi govt drained the swamp. Here is why

A babu drained an entire reservoir to find his lost mobile phone. It is time Modi Sarkar drains the swamp known as babudom and IAS. The officer allegedly said the water is “stale and unfit for any use”. Well, you can exactly say that of Indian bureaucracy.

Anyone that has ever stepped into a government office, without connections, of course, can attest to the “ruler vs ruled” culture that prevails. These babus whatever their designation or rank, are practically impossible to reach. A bunch of serfs, hangers-on or peons will filter you out.  You must push past dozens of other darshan hopefuls waiting in vain. If he grants audience at all, it will be with an imperious attitude and a “don’t waste my time” look. In the past, the room will look like it’s been bombed by a B-1. Today we have air-conditioning, somewhat cleaner offices and laptops but the mindset is the same. He will cast a quick glance at your sheaf of documents. They will be rejected for the slightest deviation from norms that were never published or made known and practically thrown back at you. If he accepts you get a gruff “Hmph” and your paper gets thrown into a tray – a signal for you to get out. And chase another set of babus to see that it moves through the system.

Of course, all this changes dramatically if you go in with the right ‘credentials’. There are smiles all around, clerks and peons will be rushing to find your file and getting your work done. Someone will magically appear with a cup of tea. Even if you give a blank piece of paper, it will meet all norms and mysterious rules or will be made to.

This is the exact culture the British put in place. To be fair, this is what they did to themselves too, not just us. It has been parodied in serials like “Yes Minister”. The only difference is they are rich and we are not. They were the looters and we, the looted. It costs us a lot more to maintain our bloated, corrupt, incompetent babudom than it does a British citizen. I use the word cost in its widest possible sense. The salary is a very tiny part of it.

After independence, this culture suited the Congress and the ruling dynasty like a pair of good gloves. Because they were no different from the colonials and as far removed from the lives, needs, problems and pains of ordinary Indians as the British were. Their shehzades didn’t go to schools built by their family for ordinary Indians. They went to Doon or London. They needed a buffer between them and the ruled – a bunch of “labarthies” that benefited from the Nehruvian socialism, enjoyed the best schools like Kendriya Vidyalayas, didn’t have to pay their medical bills, and enjoyed inflation-proof salaries and pensions. It’s the others, the ordinary Indians that paid the price of this system. The babus were, and in many ways still are, no different from medieval aristocrats, noblemen and courtiers. By the way, did you know sons of nobles didn’t have to sit for or pass exams to get their degrees in Britain?

Their powers increased by leaps and bounds in the “Idea of India” age. Laws were passed, and forms, returns, procedures and rules were invented to make practically everyone a criminal under some statute or the other. This gives them a powerful chokehold over everyone. If they wish they can squeeze it and fix you.

Babudom also provided the dynastic rulers with a chance to pass the buck. Often you will see news of a minister “scolding” a babu. At worse he gets suspended. That doesn’t mean anything – he gets his salary without even doing whatever little he was doing. And soon back in another job with exactly the same perks or even with a promotion.

The recruitment process and career advancement too perpetuated the class system. You join government service either as a low-level clerk or pass the coveted IAS exam and join as an officer. It does not require any practical experience, commercial skills, selling, managing or negotiating with trade unions. 30-year-olds that won’t even get past the first interview in a decent private company will be ruling over an entire district with armies of constables and clerks reporting to them. Because they knew Mughal history, the exact year Tipu Sultan came to power or Nehru got his degree and read The Hindu regularly. The leftists gamed this too.

Given the high level of unemployment and socialist constraints on private business, the academic qualifications of the clerks and IAS were soon no different too – many postgraduates and even engineering grads rush to apply for jobs as peons and clerks as everyone can’t become IAS.

On the contrary, the road to real promotion is practically shut for the lower class that join as clerks – at best you can reach a level that the IAS will join straight in or maybe a couple of ranks more say Undersecretary or Director. That too when you are staring at retirement, with all energy lost.

This is a powerful disincentive for performance. It tells millions of government workers – “do whatever you want you will never get beyond this rank in 40 years”. Might as well sit back and focus on your next DA increase or IPL scores. Care to name any Cabinet secretary that joined as a clerk and climbed the ranks with good work? While the private sector does recruit MBAs etc in high ranks, performance counts and out-of-turn promotions are very often seen.

Incidentally, a similar system was put in place by state-run insurance companies, banks etc. too. With very similar results, until competition forced them to change.

Most of the beneficiaries in the initial years were from the upper class. Far from complaining or seeking to overturn this system, the backward and Dalits were fooled to lobby for a ticket to join as insiders. Naturally, only elites within them benefited too.

It is a product of this system that drained the dam. And it is precisely this swamp that Modi needs to drain.

The idiotic forms and returns as well as tax changes invented by RBI, MCA, Income Tax and other babus are clear testimony to this. Nothing ever will change them. Reform is impossible. Just drain the swamp. Like the UP official did.

Why?

Because most of them, perhaps almost all of them, have never done a productive day of work in their entire lives. Never have they manufactured any widget, sold any product, or faced any real-life challenge. They never queued up for anything and don’t even have to be on the waitlist for a rail ticket. Even temples give them priority – God waits for them, not the other way around. Palatial bungalows constructed for British officers are given to Railway babus who are no different from the Regional managers in a logistics company. Our lordships who are supposed to keep this system clean enjoy the services of more domestic servants than a small European monarch.

Secluded in their offices, surrounded by sycophants and brokers, insulated from all worldly concerns, they live artificial lives. And invent artificial forms. Doesn’t matter who the FM is – NS or PC. They rule.

While Modi government shows the greatest possible realisation of this ugly truth, their steps so far have been baby steps.

We need to have talented young Indians from various backgrounds with proper corporate or industrial experience in ALL ranks of babudom. They need to have seen how the economy, commerce and business work first-hand. They can be accountants, engineers, doctors, chemistry grads or maths wizards. But no pseudo social ‘sciences’ please.

Will this form the top agenda item in NDA3? I hope so. For the sake of our children.

PS: I have been rather hard on babus but there is a significant minority that is truly devoted to their jobs, works hard and does miracles. My salute to them. Something tells me, they are the ones that will be happy to see change too. But we cannot build this country’s future on a lottery ticket system where most fail and only some work.

Plan to take over the Mutt, counselling Nehru, insulting Adheenams who gave Nehru the Sengol: What DMK founder Annadurai had said insulting Hindu tradition

On May 28, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally inaugurated the new Parliament building and positioned the revered Sengol in the Lok Sabha’s chamber close to the Speaker’s seat.

The Sengol, a representation of the transfer of power, was handed over to Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first prime minister, just before the country gained its independence. Until recently, this significant Sengol was kept as Nehru’s “golden walking stick” in Anand Bhavan, the family’s home museum in Prayagraj.

The Sengol is currently the subject of heated discussion. If Congress has been disparaging it and contesting its importance, the DMK has insulted it by referring to it as a symbol of monarchy. But this is not the first time the DMK has disparaged this renowned Sengol, according to a report in The Commune Mag.

Days after India gained its independence, C.N. Annadurai, the party’s founder, published an article dismissing the Sengol and the Hindu mutt that donated it to Nehru. At that time, he was a member of the fervently anti-Hindu and anti-India group Dravidar Kazhagam (DK).

In his article “Sengol, Oru Vendukol” (Sceptre, A Request), which appeared in his journal “Dravida Nadu” on August 24, 1947, Annadurai made disgraceful comments about the Thiruvavaduthurai Adheenam, casting doubt on the motivations behind the chief of the Mutt in giving the Sengol to Nehru on the occasion of India’s independence.

“It is unexpected and unnecessary. It is not only unnecessary. If you think about the deep meaning behind it, it will be crystal clear that it is dangerous,” he had written. He questioned if the Sengol was given to Nehru as a gift, donation, portion, or licence fee. Annadurai questioned the motives of the Hindu Mutt, saying, “We do not know what Pandithar (Nehru) thought about the Sengol or what letter the Adheenakarthar (Adheenam’s head) might have sent along with the Sengol.”

Using the analogy of the legend of Manickavasagar, a Lord Shiva devotee who turned foxes into horses, Annadurai joked that the Sengol that had been turned into gold by the power of holy ash was not just any ordinary piece of iron.

Nehru was also counselled by Annadurai, who said that he must be fully aware of the fact that rulers, who were fattened by the labour of the people under them and had decorated forts, used religion as a tool to strengthen their control.

He urged Nehru to abandon such practices to pave the way for the “flourishing of democracy”. He also indicated that the heads of the Mutts feared Nehru’s potential implementation of these principles and so presented a golden sceptre, thereby derogating the Thiruvavaduthurai Adheenam.

He said that the Mutt’s head was stealing other people’s labour and thought it was improper to call it a Sengol. Annadurai further said that the head of the Mutt wanted to win Nehru’s favour and used the gift to seem close to the new administration and keep control of the people.

He said that the working class was left toiling in the Mutt’s lush paddy fields, which could produce harvests more valuable than the rare stones, and that the money represented only a small portion of the wealth held by a saint who had abandoned worldly matters.

The founder of the DMK put out the notion of taking control of the mutt, arguing that if the government were to seize its money and use it to raise people’s standards of living, the Sengol would stop serving as a purely ornamental item and instead enhance people’s lives.

On May 26th, 2023, Murasoli reprinted this Annadurai article. Chairman of The Hindu publishing group N. Ram had also shared the Murasoli article calling it a “contemporaneous satire”.

On the eve of the opening of the new Parliament building, The Hindu paraphrased and reposted the story in English. Jairam Ramesh and Lakshmi Ramachandran, among other Congress officials, shared this version of the article.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi installed ‘Sengol’ in the Lok Sabha chamber at the New Parliament Building amidst Vedic chants by the high priests of various adheenams (maths). Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla accompanied PM Modi during the installation. The installation of Sengol took place before performing Puja. After installing the Sengol, he sought blessings from the high priests. Sengol has been installed in a special enclosure on the right side of the Speaker’s chair.

Meat thrown on temple paths, Love Jihad and eve-teasing: While Rajasthan police say no exodus took place, Hindu victims say this to OpIndia

Since last week the Purohit Mohalla in the Kishanpole area of Jaipur in Rajasthan has been in the news after posters blaming Congress councillor Farid Quresh for an alleged exodus of local Hindu families surfaced. The Rajasthan police refuted the claims of the suspected alleged exodus and registered an FIR against the unidentified persons. However, when OpIndia spoke to Hindu residents of Purohit Mohalla, Ward No. 69, Kishanpole on Monday (May 22, 2023), they made somewhat different claims.

Abuses started even before the Hindus settled in the area: Hindus in Kishanpole area in Rajasthan talk to OpIndia

The squabble began with the purchase of a Hindu dwelling in the neighbourhood by a relative of Congress corporator Farid Qureshi. Sonia Pareek, who lives in the neighbourhood, told OpIndia that the brother of councillor Farid Qureshi had purchased a house. Some Muslim youths had arrived to clean it up. These youths, namely Farooq, Mohsin, and Rais abused the Hindu women in the area. They hurled casteist slurs at a Dalit woman, said Sonia adding that the local police were working under duress.

Meat and bones are thrown on Temple paths

OpIndia went on to speak to Bhuvanesh, another Ward 69 resident. Bhuvanesh said that his neighbourhood is known as Chhoti Kashi in Rajasthan due to the abundance of temples in the area. However, because of the Muslim population in the neighbourhood, they find it impossible to visit the temple to pay obeisance. Bhuvanesh alleged that just to annoy the Hindu devotees, the Muslims residents purposely throw meat and bones on the path leading to the temples.

Love jihad and eve-teasing: Hindus leaving Kishanpole area in Rajasthan talk reveal their plight

Bhuvanesh further recalled how over the years, many Hindu girls in his neighbourhood have fallen into the trap of love jihad laid by Muslim youths in the area. Many of them are yet to return home, said Bhuvanesh.

He further revealed how the local Muslim youths cause a commotion at night by parking their vehicles on the streets around the neighbourhood, harassing and molesting the Hindu girls who pass by.

Kishanpole area in Rajasthan to become Muslim majority in a few years:

Bhuvanesh said that Ward 69 was previously a Hindu-dominated neighbourhood. However, there has been an unprecedented increase in the Muslim population in the area recently. Bhuvanesh added that the Muslims have purchased approximately 50 properties from various other communities, including the Mali community, in the last few years. “If this situation continues,” he argued, “everyone will have to migrate after a while.”

He further claimed that even if two groups of Muslims come face to face, Hindus must suffer. The window panes of Hindu homes have been damaged numerous times as a result of stone pelting, he lamented.

Who sold the house to the councillor’s relative and why?

The individual who sold the residence to Councillor Farid’s brother is identified as Ajay Pareek. Arjun Pareek, Ajay’s relative, spoke to OpIndia. He stated that many Hindus were willing to give a bigger sum to Ajay for this house. Despite this, it is a mystery why he sold the house to Farid’s brother. Arjun claimed that since selling the house, Ajay has stopped answering the phone of any of his relatives. He claimed that there must have been some pressure put on Ajay to sell his house to Farid’s brother.

Manish Pareek, a Kishanpole-based social activist and BJP leader, spoke with OpIndia. He stated that the buyer of the property is the brother of Congress corporator Farid. Amin Kagzi, the local MLA, is close to Councillor Farid. “The police are looking for Hindus who put up eviction notices when they should be looking for Ajay Pareek, who is not in contact with anyone,” he said.

OpIndia further spoke to BJP MLA Ramlal Sharma, who first raised the issue of the Hindu exodus. The BJP MLA expressed concern with the police working style, claiming that instead of conducting a fair probe, efforts are being made to suppress the situation.

Local Muslims, on the other hand, see it as an unnecessary squabble. They claim to be having no issues with Hindus. A person who went to clean Farid’s brother’s house, on the other hand, accused Hindus of abusing them.

Last week, OpIndia reported that the ‘exodus’ posters were pasted in the Purohiton Ka Chowk, wherein around fifty Hindu families reside. The residents in the area claimed that the Muslim population in the area is being purposely increased. The locals blamed this on Congress councillor Farid Qureshi. They also accused Farid of filing bogus complaints against people, as well as assaulting and abusing them. The local people expressed profound concern for the safety of the women in their families.
