Madhya Pradesh sex racket: 13 IAS officers, a former Chief Minister and Governor possibly honey trapped by a gang

After a Special Investigative Team (SIT) was formed to investigate the high profile honey-trap racket uncovered in Madhya Pradesh, significant new details have come to light. Earlier, the wife of the state coordinator of Congress party’s IT Cell was arrested for her involvement in the racket.

The arrested women in the honey-trapping racket are identified as 39-year-old Shweta Vijay Jain, 48-year-old Shweta Swapnil Jain, 35-year-old Barkha Soni (wife of former Congress IT cell vice-president), 34-year-old Aarti Dayal and an 18-year-old college student. Omprakash Kori, 34, who drives Aarti Dayal’s car was also arrested.

As per reports, SIT has now come across a list of 13 IAS officers, who served in various departments such as fisheries, agriculture, culture, industries, urban administration, forest and others at various points of time, that the women kept. The ‘hit list’ was created from the pages of a government diary by the ring handler with ticks and codes scribbled against their names. The precise number of officers who got honey trapped is still a matter of investigation.

Nearly 4,000 files containing screenshots of sex chats, videos of officers in compromising positions, and audio clips have so far been recovered from laptops and mobile phones confiscated from the honeytrap ring by the investigative authorities. Reportedly, the investigators are suffering an embarrassing time going through all the lurid details of the matter.

More than 40 call girls, including B-grade Bollywood actresses, were used to honey trap politicians, bureaucrats including a former Chief Minister and Governor of Madhya Pradesh. According to reports, the kingpin in the racket was Shweta Swapnil Jain. “After initial interaction with a bureaucrat or a minister, Shweta used to invite the ‘target’ for sex, to a guest house or a five star suite of her choice. Once the ‘target’ was involved in a sexual act, his video was recorded either by a hidden mobile or a spy cam,” an SIT officer involved in the investigation was quoted by India Today as saying.

Shweta has reportedly confessed that once a Minister or Secretary was honey-trapped, his favour was used to procure lucrative contracts for the NGO she was running. The Bhopal Municipal Corporation reportedly obliged her with a Rs. 8 crore contract. She also confessed that a former Chief Minister of the state had gifted her a bungalow in Minal Residency, a posh Bhopal area.

Congress spokesperson in the state, K.K. Mishra, said the racket was being operated in Bhopal, Indore and other prominent towns of MP. “It (racket) was going on for years, therefore 80 percent of politicians involved in the blackmail are of the BJP. Police have got names of all the leaders. However, I would not take any names till there is any arrest of a politician or a bureaucrat”. He added, “We will arrest Congress persons too if their involvement in obliging the operators is proved prima facie. But let me repeat, the majority of leaders involved in the scandal are from the BJP.”

Furthermore, it’s now being reported that meritorious girls from poor families were targeted by the gang members for their racket. They were promised scholarships but were then forced into prostitution. “The families of the girls were approached through one of the accused and the gang had plans to push them into prostitution and make them members of the gang as they had done with Monika Yadav who was a brilliant student in school,” a source was quoted by India Today as saying.

Shweta, the kingpin, has reportedly confessed that she had trapped dozens of college girls and made them sleep with bureaucrats and politicians. Videos were made of these sexual escapades and these videos were then used by the gang to extort money.

Two Christian factions in Kerala fight over a Church, HC directs arrest of Jacobites preventing Orthodox entry

0

The Kerala High court on Thursday directed the police to arrest the supporters of the Jacobite faction who had blocked the police the previous day from implementing the controversial Supreme Court 2017 verdict regarding the Church’s management.

Since yesterday, the supporters belonging to the Jacobite faction, under the leadership of a few Metropolitan priests, had locked the gates and assembled inside the St Mary’s Church in Ernakulam district’s Piravom in Kerala, barring supporters of the Orthodox faction to formally take over the administration of the church as instructed by the Supreme court in its 2017 verdict.

In a landmark judgement delivered on July 3, 2017, the Supreme Court had ruled on a centuries-old dispute between Jacobite and Orthodox factions of Kerala’s Malankara Church. The SC had ruled that 1100 parishes and their churches under the Malankara Church, which were until then controlled by the Jacobite faction should be controlled by the Orthodox faction, as per the 1934 Malankara Church guidelines.

As reported by The Hindu, the Kerala High court gave the oral directive when the case relating to the Piravom church came up for hearing. The court also sought an explanation from the State government as well as counsel for the Jacobite faction as to under what authority was the Jacobite faction supporters preventing the Orthodox faction from entering the church.

The Kerala court following the Supreme court 2017 verdict also directed the State government to file a report by 1.45 pm on Thursday after complying with its earlier directive to provide police protection to the Orthodox priests to perform religious services at the church.

On Wednesday morning, the Orthodox faction had reached the Church to take its possession after the Kerala High Court directed the police to provide protection to their priests to conduct religious services in the church. The court gave the order on a petition by the Orthodox faction of the church, seeking police protection to conduct mass and prayers in the church.

Tensions escalated between the two rival factions and even the huge deployment of police and fire force personnel in front of the church could not resolve the issue. “It was next to impossible to implement the SC verdict in the present scenario, as the forced implementation of the verdict might lead to a gunfight,” informed the police.

The Orthodox faction had moved the High Court after the state government had failed to implement the apex court’s order.

The dispute between the two Christian factions are not new, in fact, it is about a century old. Last year, the situation at the Piravom Valiyapalli remained tensed after one member of the Jacobite faction threatened to jump off the Church building, while others poured kerosene over their heads and threatened to set themselves alight, as police then too tried to implement the SC verdict.

The Piravom Valiyapalli is just one of the many churches, which has been a part of the heightened dispute over the church administration ever since the SC ruling.

Noida: Husband ‘loses’ wife in a gamble, pressurises her to get into physical relationships with his friends

In a shocking incident from Noida, a woman has alleged that her husband has been forcing her to make physical relationships with three of his friends after he ‘lost’ her to them in gambling. Following her complaint, the Noida police have taken the husband into custody.

The woman alleged that her husband had put her on the stake while gambling with his friends after he ran out of money on Monday. When he lost the bet he started pressuring her to have a physical relationship with his friends. The husband also called his friends home and showed them pornographic videos.

Meanwhile, Inspector Rajvir Singh Chauhan, in-charge of police station Sector 20 said that the accused is being interrogated and every angle of the case is being probed.

This is, however, not the first time such an outrageous offence has been reported. Last month, in a similar case, a man hailing from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh, who was addicted to gambling and alcohol had put his wife on the stake after running out of money and allowed his friends to gang-rape her after losing the bet.

After the incident, the victim went to her maternal uncle’s house. Her husband followed her there, asking for forgiveness and said that it was a mistake. Accepting the apology, the wife went back with her husband in his car. On their way back, her husband stopped the car and allowed his friends to gang-rape her once again. Following this horrific incident, the woman approached the court which in turn asked the police to register a case.

Following a court order, an FIR had been registered in Jaffarabad police station in Jaunpur district.

Ram Mandir case: Muslim parties apologise to Supreme Court for questioning ASI report

0

A day after Muslim parties questioned the authorship of 2003 report of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) report that had confirmed the presence of a large structure at the Ram Janambhoomi site, it took a U-turn on Thursday to apologise to the Supreme Court for wasting its time in the Ayodhya land dispute case.

According to the reports, senior advocate Rajeev Dhavan, who is representing the Muslim parties apologised to the court after another advocate representing Muslim parties – Meenakshi Arora had questioned the ASI report. “Yesterday’s argument was futile. Authorship can’t be questioned. Authenticity not in doubt,” said Dhawan.

Senior advocate Rajeev Dhavan told to the five-judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi that they do not wish to question the authorship of the summary of the ASI report.

“It is not expected that every page is to be signed. The authorship of the report and the summary need not be questioned. If we had wasted my lords time, then we apologise for that. There is no point going into that. The report in question has an author and we are not questioning the authorship,” Dhavan, representing the Muslim parties, said.

On Wednesday, senior advocate Meenakshi Arora, also representing the Muslim parties, questioned the ASI report saying every chapter is attributed to an author but the summary has not been attributed to anyone. Arora had also raised her doubts on the authorship of the Archeological Survey of India’s (ASI) report, which had excavated the disputed site on Allahabad High Court’s orders. She had questioned the credibility of archaeology as a scientific discipline.

“Archaeology is at best a social science. It is not a natural science like physics or chemistry since its findings cannot be verified and may differ from the opinion of one person to another,” Arora submitted before the Constitution Bench led by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi.

However, an unimpressed Supreme Court while responding to Arora’s argument, had said the mosque side should have questioned this during the trial, and not now during the appeal. The court had said that the report has become part of court records, and it can’t be questioned now.

In 2003, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) had excavated the Babri Mosque site at the direction of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court. The archaeologists had reported that evidence of a large structure pre-existed the Babri Masjid.

Further, the Supreme Court on Thursday asked parties in the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case to finish their arguments by October 18. The Supreme Court also warned that the parties will not be given any extra day. The apex court continued its hearing on the 32nd day.

“If arguments can’t get over by October 18, there won’t be an extra day,” said Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, who is heading a five-judge bench. The bench also comprises Justices S A Bobde, D Y Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan, and S Abdul Nazeer.

Chief Justice Gogoi also pointed out that the bench will have just have four weeks to write and deliver the judgment once arguments conclude on October 18. “It will be miraculous if the top court can write judgment in the remaining time given the amount of materials parties have given,” he said.

BJP’s Purvanchal Morcha protests outside Kejriwal’s residence over his NRC remarks

0

The BJP has organised a massive protest outside Delhi CM and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal’s residence against his statement on Delhi BJP leader Manoj Tiwari over NRC.

In a stunning display of ignorance about the difference in citizenship and domicile, Arvind Kejriwal had yesterday said that if NRC is implemented in Delhi, Manoj Tiwari will be the first one to leave Delhi. The Delhi CM had either forgotten, or ignored the fact that NRC is for checking citizenship, and not state domicile.

Scores of BJP workers, mainly from BJP’s Purvanchal Morcha, held protests in Delhi earlier today against Kejriwal’s remarks for Delhi BJP leader Manoj Tiwari. The police have detained members of BJP’s Purvanchal Morcha who took part in the protest against Arvind Kejriwal for his remark on Wednesday against Tiwari. Police also resorted to using water cannons against the protestors.

In response to the misinformative statement by Kejriwal and other AAP leaders against implementing NRC, Tiwari had retorted saying, “If I am illegal, then is Kejriwal suggesting that every Purvanchali is illegal? Do you want to force them out of Delhi too? NRC identifies illegal immigrants, that is people who are from outside India and not from other parts of India. The people of Delhi will now answer to the Chief Minister.”

Delhi BJP leader Manoj Tiwari had said recently that the situation in Delhi is worsening due to the presence of illegal immigrants who pose a threat to the safety of people in Delhi. Tiwari had said that the situation in Delhi had become “too dangerous” because of the presence of illegal immigrants in the city. Tiwari assured that the BJP government will implement the NRC in Delhi as well just like they have done it in Assam

A police complaint was also filed against the AAP supremo for spreading falsehoods and fomenting trouble. BJP leader Kapil Mishra filed a police complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj for fear-mongering, trying to cause trouble and spreading lies through social media about NRC.

‘No protest, nothing. Just Jihad’: Former ‘British Muslim of the Year’ finalist being probed for incendiary remark on Kashmir

Sumaira Farrukh, who was once nominated for a British Muslim of the Year award, is being investigated after she made a call to Jihad in Kashmir. She was the losing finalist in the ‘businesswoman of the year’ category at the British Muslim of the Year awards in 2017. A prominent activist, she was filmed at a protest rally over the abrogation of Article 370 saying ‘Jihad is the only solution’. The speech was made in Birmingham last month.

Farrukh, who has earlier been photographed with Prince Charles, told a crowd of hundreds, “There is only one slogan for today. It is remove curfew from Kashmir. Let them live their own lives – nothing more than that. And one thing to truth-tell to the Muslim community. There’s only one solution, which is jihad. No protest, nothing. Just jihad.”

Farrukh, a businesswoman and a journalist, was demanding action against India’s decision to integrate Jammu & Kashmir completely with the Indian Union. 24 hours earlier, top Labour MPs including deputy leader Tom Watson, Jack Dromey and Liam Byrne had given speeches at a similar protest at the very same spot.

Farrukh denied inciting violence and claimed that she was being targeted because she was ‘an outspoken woman in a headscarf’. Asked about her comments, she said, “The meaning of jihad is not a particular one meaning. If you have a problem with the Government of the UK and you want to raise your voice, the struggle is called jihad in the meaning of Islam. Muslims know the meaning of the word in that context. Do you think I’m the kind of person who would use that word to encourage people to go and fight? I work with communities and the British military encouraging the Asian community to join the Army – how can I encourage violence?”

On being asked whether it was to use the words that she did, she answered, “The people who are criticising me are the ones who don’t want a woman to speak out. There are men saying we are going to get freedom with guns. People are chanting bad words, saying come out and fight, but they don’t get investigated. People always attack me because I’m an outspoken woman.’

The Police have confirmed that they are investigating the matter. A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said, “We are assessing the content to see whether any criminal offences have been committed.”

No to nepotism: BJP says won’t give ticket to family members of MPs, MLAs in Haryana elections

0

Ahead of the Haryana assembly elections, BJP has made a major announcement. State BJP chief Subhash Barala stated recently that in accordance to the decision taken by the party’s central committee, no family members of sitting MPs, MLAs and ministers will be given tickets for the upcoming assembly elections.

Barala stated that even the sitting mayors and Zilla Parishad chairman will not be considered for an MLA ticket in the upcoming elections. The party has stated that it will not cultivate nepotism and favouritism in the party and only deserving candidates will be considered.

Subhash Barala mentioned that the Amit Shah led central election committee of the BJP had decided to be strict about these rules while distributing tickets and the state unit will follow it. In the state BJP meeting on Sunday night, the decision was conveyed to party leaders. Many state ministers and senior leaders hoping for tickets for their children are expected to be disappointed.

The BJP will also not give tickets to party leaders who are above 75 years of age. While the final decision regarding the selection of candidates is to be taken after PM Modi returns from his USA tour, the state unit has stated that the names of the prospective candidates and selection panel names have been sent to the party’s central committee.

The Haryana assembly elections are scheduled to be held in a single phase on November 2 for all 70 seats. The last date for filing nominations is October 4.

Why the Indian Right should take the lead on climate change and snatch the issue from the Left

Climate change is a scientifically established fact. The scientific consensus on this was achieved decades ago. Since then, climate change has gone far beyond data recorded in scientific journals and is apparent to all. The island nation of Tuvalu is sinking. Every year, the sea floods a bit more of the Florida coast. The mostly frozen Arctic Sea is now navigable for ships for more days each year. As the sea warms, Norwegian cod fish are migrating further up north, making them harder for fishing boats to catch.

The above is just a sprinkling of the numerous ways in which you can actually “see” climate change happening.

Before we come to the Indian Right, we have to understand how the issue of climate change has played out at the global (American, really) level. We have to understand how the Left set the trap, baited the hook and who walked into it like fools.

Years ago, the American Left spotted the looming disaster of climate change. And then proceeded very cleverly to construct a political trap around it. Having lost the battle for economic ideas, the Left saw climate change as an opportunity to create a counter narrative to the capitalist way of the modern world.

The marketing trick was pretty basic: get people in the door promising to ‘save the planet.’ Once you have them listening to you, get them to sign up for your social, political and economic agenda. Every political party in the world understands this trick. This is why politicians campaign with movie stars around. Because the first thing you have to do is gather a crowd.

The international organization ‘Greenpeace’ is the best example of such sleight of hand. Notice how “Green” (a scientific agenda) and “peace” (a political agenda) have been seamlessly glued together. Who should compromise for the ‘peace’? Who are you treating as the aggressor? The Left does not want you to think about this part. You buy the “green” part and you are automatically subscribed to their vision of what should be done for peace.

By turning a scientific fact into a political wedge issue, the Left actually struck the biggest ever blow against real solutions to climate change. People are given to think in terms of political “tribes.” As such, the Left’s political aggression turned the Right reflexively against the issue.

This pushed the American Right to embrace crazy conspiracy theories, science denial and all sorts of absurdities.

Make no mistake. The Left loves how it all turned out. They claim to be outraged, but they are beyond thrilled. They get to show their adversaries as fools. How awesome is that?

Meanwhile, real solutions got stuck in the political crossfire.

Here’s the deal though. The clock really is ticking. The alarm has been going off for decades. If we keep pressing the snooze button, we are going to die. For real.

Thankfully, India so far has remained largely insulated from the madness around climate change denial. I personally do believe this has something to do with the Hindu way of life, which has always sought harmony with nature. The Hindu mind is driven towards respect for the world and all living beings. You might remember Modiji’s words on this :

Untitled.png
PM Modi on commitment to climate

So yeah, Modi sarkar is strong and unwavering on the issue of climate change. We are about to ban single use plastic. We have implemented some of the toughest pollution standards in the world. We have spared no effort to steer away from fossil fuels and towards renewables such as wind and solar.

Incidentally, India isn’t all that rich in traditional hydrocarbons like coal or oil. We have to import a lot of it. So, this makes sense for us in every possible way.

But in a globalized world, the left is on the prowl, trying to import to India the campaign that worked so successfully in the West. This is where the Indian Right wing must watch out and avoid being lumped with the climate change denying buffoons in many other parts of the world.

Yes, our government policy at the top levels might be heavily in favor of climate action. But so what? Be mindful that the wolves of the left are on the prowl for any slip up, no matter how small or irrelevant. Every gesture, every throwaway comment on social media, is under the scanner of the Left. They want the Indian Right wing smeared as climate change deniers at any cost.

Think about ‘church attacks.’ Think about the whole ‘Lynchistan’ narrative. In either case, real evidence on the ground was nearly absent. But the Left managed to manufacture the narrative anyway and smear us very successfully as a nation.

The Indian Right cannot afford to get smeared on the climate change issue.

Even though this article contains many warnings, it is really not intended to evoke fear. Rather, the aim is to point out a much larger political opportunity that has presented itself before the Indian right.

The Indian Right can take the lead on climate change!

The Indian Right is in control of all policy levers right now. And the Modi government has taken a very active approach to combating the climate crisis.

So, the Indian Right wing government has already pushed the right buttons at the top. All that remains at the lower levels is to sit back, relax and enthusiastically support the right wing government.

Just how easy is that?

Not just easy, but fun as well. If you want to rub the left wing noses into the ground, there is no better way.

Remember that it works both ways: as soon as the Indian Right takes the lead on climate change, it will make the Left reflexively dash for the opposite direction. And the Left will look ridiculous in the process.

Have you seen how Left wingers around the world are looking foolish complaining about the success of India’s toilet building initiative?

That’s how political tribalism works. Because Modi started building toilets, the Left started supporting open defecation. And now they look ridiculous. The Indian Right can similarly drive the Left up the wall and make them jump off the cliff of lunacy on the issue of climate change. The Right doesn’t even need to snatch this issue from them, because our Right wing government has already been sprinting in the right direction. All that remains is for the right to take ownership. And enjoy as the Left goes mad. Who’s with me?

Non-Muslims cannot purchase or get flat on rent in a posh area in Karachi, claims Pakistani activist

0

A Pakistani activist has taken to Twitter to expose the pervasive religious discrimination meted out against the non-Muslims in an upmarket neighbourhood of the Pakistani city of Karachi.

According to the Pakistani activist Kapil Dev, many ritzy residencies in posh areas of Karachi have put up notices barring non-Muslims from purchasing a flat or renting an apartment in the society. Dev has uploaded pictures of the notice affixed on the wall of Machiyara Residency at Khaliq-uz-Zaman Rd, Block 8 Clifton, Karachi, written in Urdu that non-Muslims are prohibited from buying or renting a flat in the society.

Religious discrimination and bigotry have been a central character of Pakistani society. Recently, a Hindu girl was abducted and forcibly converted to Islam by unknown Muslim assailants in the Sindh province of Pakistan. A few days ago, another Hindu girl, Nimrita Chandni, a final-year student of Bibi Asifa Dental College in Sindh province’s Larkana district and a social activist, was found lying on a cot by her friends on September 16 with a rope tied to her neck.

In another religion-based crime, a Hindu girl in Pakistan was abducted and converted to Islam. Earlier, Jagjit Kaur, a Sikh girl was abducted and forcibly converted to Islam in Nankana Sahib which had caused a huge uproar. It attracted widespread criticism and a massive protest by Sikhs in India in front of the Pakistani Embassy in New Delhi. Atrocities against non-Muslims is general leitmotif of Pakistani culture, they are not only relegated to being second-class citizens but they are also considered as object of possession, especially girls.

However, despite the rising incidents of religious bigotry in Pakistan, PM Imran Khan, instead of setting his own house in order, indulges in peddling the anti-minority rhetoric against India, in his bid to internationalise the Kashmir issue. Khan has been whipping up the hysteria that PM Modi and BJP is suppressing the rights of minorities in India without providing any evidence for the same. Contrary to Khan’s assertions, minorities in India have flourished whereas they withered away in Pakistan.
