Uttar Pradesh: Primary school terms a 9-year-old ‘characterless’ in his TC for complaining against teacher’s thrashing

0

A 9-year-old boy had to pay a heavy price for standing up against his school teacher. A school in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district reportedly certified a class five student as ‘characterless’ in his Transfer Certificate, in a bid to punish him for complaining against his teacher.

This step taken by the school authorities could jeopardise the child’s future as this remark in the TC could hamper his admission in any other school.

According to reports, the Class 5 student of a primary school in Chatarauli village in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh had got into a fight with a few of his classmates last month. A teacher had allegedly thrashed the boy in this regard.

When the boy’s parents approached the school authorities to lodge a complaint against the teacher, the school principal refused to take any action on the matter. Irked by the school’s apathy, the parents threatened to withdraw their child from the school and asked the school to issue a transfer certificate.

Transfer Certificate is given by a school to its students when they leave the school permanently. It is a mandatory document a student needs to submit while seeking admission elsewhere.

Meanwhile, the principal of this primary school in Chatarauli village where this 9-year-old boy was studying, termed the boy as “characterless” while describing the boy under the designated column.

The parents alleged that the school management had issued them such a TC in a bid to punish the boy for complaining against the teacher. “With this remark on the transfer certificate, my son will not get admission in any other school. The principal has played with the future of my child,” said the father of the 9-year-old.

Meanwhile, the district education officer in Gonda said that an inquiry has been ordered into the incident and action would be taken against those found guilty.

Indian Army foils a major infiltration bid in Macchal sector of Jammu and Kashmir

0

The Indian Armed Forces manning the volatile and infiltration prone Line of Control along Jammu had thwarted a major infiltration bid in the Macchal sector.

According to the Indian Army Sources, 5 to 6 terrorists had sneaked in 500 metres into the Indian side before the patrolling team spotted and engaged them. In the ensuing encounter, the Indian Army personnel succeeded in foiling their infiltration attempt while one soldier sustained injuries and was subsequently evacuated.

The infiltration attempt was made within 15 hours of the announcement made by Home Minister Amit Shah of scrapping the archaic Article 370 and a bill introduced in the parliament to bifurcate Jammu and Kashmir into 2 Union Territories-Jammu and Kashmir with legislature based on Puducherry UT model and Ladakh without legislature. The bill was subsequently passed in the Rajya Sabha late yesterday evening.

On Saturday, another infiltration bid was foiled by the army where Pakistani BAT personnel with some terrorists had tried to enter India at the Keran sector. India had offered Pakistan to take the bodies of their soldiers back but Pakistan did not give any response.

Following the deteriorating situation in Kashmir, the government had earlier deployed about 35000 additional security personnel, possibly anticipating increased infiltration attempts being made by Pakistani terrorists to continue to incite violence in the Valley.

After Armed Forces’ press conference revealed that Pakistani terrorists operating in the Valley are equipped with high-tech arms such as IEDs and American built M-24 sniper, the government had pre-emptively asked tourists and pilgrims to return and had cancelled the Yatra.

The Indian Armed Forces- the Territorial Army as well as the Air Force and other paramilitary units operating in Jammu and Kashmir have been put on high alert to prevent the Valley from sliding into chaos and hinder Pakistani based terrorists attempt to incite violence in the state.

Rahul Gandhi goes on to mass block people on Twitter after saying nation is made up of people

After remaining silent for a whole day, Congress president Rahul Gandhi finally arrived on Twitter to oppose the recent decisions of the Modi government on Jammu and Kashmir. The state has been bifurcated into two Union Territories by a bill in parliament, and the Article 35A has been abolished and Article 370 rendered ineffective by a presidential order.

The Congress is split into middle on the decision to fully integrate Jammu and Kashmir into India. While officially the party is opposing the move, several senior members of the party have gone against the party’s position and supported the government. Even the party’s chief whip in Rajya Sabha Bhubaneshwar Kalita resigned from the party and the upper house yesterday in protest against the Congress party’s stand on Article 370.

Rahul Gandhi said that the government’s decision violates constitution, and that the nation is made up of people, not plots of land. Soon after he tweeted this, many people began replying to him, reminding that Article 370 was always temporary, and it is being removed as per the provisions of the Constitution only. Many Twitter users also criticised him for the party’s stand in the Parliament today that Kashmir is not an internal issue of India.

Soon after Twitter users replied to Rahul Gandhi, they discovered they have been blocked by the Congress president. Several persons posted screenshots showing that they have been blocked form following the official account of Rahul Gandhi.

Some people were blocked just for asking what took so long for Rahul Gandhi to react to the Modi government’s decision, or for just commenting that finally remembered.

While some others were blocked for pointing out Congress party’s stand saying that Kashmir is not an internal matter of India.

Many others were blocked for what is known as ‘trolling’ on social media.

It is ironical that while Rahul Gandhi says that the nation is made by people, he seems to not like people who disagree with him, and who show the truth to him.

Congress and TMC intolerance: 5 BJYM leaders arrested in Bengal, several detained in Punjab for celebrating dilution of Article 370

It seems Congress and Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) are getting rubbed the wrong way as India gets into a celebratory mood after BJP government in a bold and pathbreaking move, rendered Article 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir redundant and revoked special status to Jammu and Kashmir. It also declared J&K and Ladakh Union Territories.

A group of BJP leaders and workers had been detained by Mohali police for organizing celebrations in support of the Narendra Modi government’s decision to repeal Article 370, which gave a special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

BJP councillors, Sahibee Anand and Arun Sharma along with a group of supporters assembled at Phase 9 in Mohali and started raising slogans against Article 370. The group also started distributing sweets to celebrate the scrapping, when a police team arrived at the spot. The group of about 50 odd workers and leaders were detained. They were, however, released later.

While speaking to the media, Sahibee Anand criticised Congress leader and CM of Punjab, Capt Amarinder Singh for refraining them from celebrating this historic move. “It’s a historic day for all. Everyone should join in the celebrations. I don’t know why we’re being stopped from celebrating peacefully,’’ he told the reporters.

Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee’s government on Monday got 5 Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) members, including district BJYM president, Kanchan Debnath, arrested in Siliguri, who had also gathered to celebrate the scrapping of Article 370 and 35A.

“The president of BJYM has been arrested. This is totally unconstitutional. Everywhere in India people are celebrating the repealing of Article 370 but the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal is not allowing us to celebrate this momentous occasion,” Aniket Das, district vice president of BJYM said while speaking to ANI.

“We are celebrating with the tricolour and not under any organisational flag but still the police have arrested our members. We will protest this action and “gherao” the police station,” he added.

Yesterday, in a historic move, the Centre scrapped Article 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir. Shortly after Home Minister Amit Shah tabled a resolution to this effect in Rajya Sabha yesterday, President Ram Nath Kovind came out with a notification.

Kashmir Reorganisation Bill stripping Article 370 and declaring JK as Union Territory was passed in Rajya Sabha with 125 Ayes and 61 Nos. It is currently being presented in the Lok Sabha.

However, BJP government’s audacious decision to scrap Article 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir has got a mixed reaction from Congress as well the Trinamool Congress. While mostly Congress members preferred to parrot Pakistan’s line, invoking UN and ‘bilateral issues’ there were few within the party who went against their party’s stand and batted for India. Moreover, Congress’ Chief whip resigned from RS calling his party’ decision to oppose the effective scrapping of Article 370 as ‘political suicide’.

On the other hand, while TMC government condemned the Centre’s decision by calling it ‘Procedural harakiri’, TMC’s chief whip too, in a cryptic message, today, welcomed stripping of Article 370.

While Pak politicians mouth off platitudes, rattled by dilution of Article 370, Pakistan summons Indian High Commissioner

Pakistan’s foreign secretary Sohail Mahmood summoned Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ajay Bisaria on Monday to the Foreign Office over the abrogation of Article 370.

In a historic move, Modi led Indian Government effectively revoked Article 370 in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The state was further bifurcated into two union territories, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

Pakistan “rejected” India’s decision to scrap Article 370 and 35A and said that they would take up the issue with the US delegation who are scheduled to visit the country very soon.

Foreign Office said in a statement, “The Foreign Secretary conveyed Pakistan’s unequivocal rejection of these illegal actions as they are in breach of international law and several UN Security Council resolutions,” furthering, Pakistan’s “resolute condemnation of the unlawful actions aimed at further consolidating the illegal occupation” of Jammu and Kashmir was underscored.

Pakistan also condemned the “preceding pre-meditated steps”, which included lock-down of Kashmir, deployment of additional troops, the imposition of curfew, the house arrest of Kashmiri leaders and the suspension of communication services, it said in its statement.

The foreign secretary, Sohail Mahmood urged India to “halt and reverse its unlawful and destabilizing actions, ensure full compliance with UN Security Council resolutions, and refrain from any further action that could entail serious implications.”

Mahmood reiterated that Pakistan would continue to “extend political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiri people’s struggle for the realisation of their inalienable right to self-determination.”

Flummoxed by India’s bold and pathbreaking decision, Pakistan said that it will exercise “all possible options” to counter the move and approach the International Court of Justice if need be.

Meanwhile, yesterday, a large number of Pakistanis, who had no idea what was transpiring back in India were taken aback by the government’s decision to do away with the partition relic of Article 370 and proceed in the direction of greater assimilation of the state with the Indian Union. Dejected Pakistanis took took to Twitter to vent their frustration.

The Reorganisation Bill, per which Article 370 has been scrapped and Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh declared Union Territories by the Modi government. It was tabled in the Upper House yesterday and passed with 125 Ayes, 61 Nos and 1 Abstain.

According to the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, Jammu and Kashmir will have a legislature while Ladakh will not. Both have been designated union territories.

Manish Tewari invokes erotic novel ’50 Shades of Grey’ when asked if Congress supports the stripping of Article 370

On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah moved the resolution to dilute Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir in the Lok Sabha and to bifurcate the state into two Union Territories.

Amidst all this, Congress leader of Opposition Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury parroted Pakistan’s line and questioned how is Kashmir an internal matter when the UN is monitoring it since 1948. As Congress party was deviating from clarifying their stand on the issue of abrogation of Article 370, Union Home Minister Amit Shah asked the Congress party to clarify their stand on the issue. “Congress should clarify if they are for or against scrapping,” said Amit Shah.

While responding to the same, Congress leader Manish Tewari then invoked the erotic porn novel ’50 Shades of Grey’ and said that “There’s an English book, it’s not black and white, it’s 50 Shades Of Grey.”

50 Shades of Grey is a novel by a British author E. L. James. The book is an erotic fan-fiction inspired from the popular book series ‘Twilight’ by Stephenie Meyer, which was also inspired from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. 50 Shades of Grey has explicit erotic scenes involving BDSM (Bondage/Discipline, Dominance/Submission and Sadism/Masochism) sexual practices. The book has been criticised because it often confuses the BDSM with physical and sexual abuses and shows characteristics of abusive relationship without really addressing the problem.

Manish Tewari says Nehru sent forces to annex Hyderabad, does not even mention Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

A day after Rajya Sabha approved a bill to bifurcate the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories, the Lok Sabha began the discussion on the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill on Tuesday. Yesterday the President had also issued an order scrapping the Article 35A, and rendering Article 370 ineffective, thereby ensuring full integration of the state with India.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah moved the presidential order issued under Article 370 and the bill to bifurcate the state into two Union Territories in Lok Sabha.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha on the matter, Congress leader Manish Tewari made shocking statements when he credited Former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru instead of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for the accession of Hyderabad into the Indian Union despite the fact that Nehru did not contribute to historic act.

Recounting the contentious state’s history, Congress leader Manish Tiwari said, “It is important today that we look back when India gained independence on 15 August 1947, the states were asked to choose between India and Pakistan. But, there was a conflict over three states — Junagarh, Hyderabad and Kashmir.”

Tiwari said, “It was Jawaharlal Nehru who sent a force to annex Hyderabad to be part of India,” said Tewari without even acknowledging the name of Sardar Patel, who was behind the success of Operation Polo, which resulted in the surrender of Hyderabad Nizam to the state of India.

After the partition and independence of India, most princely states had chosen to merge with either India or Pakistan. But the wealthy state Hyderabad ruled by Nizam was an exception, which had decided to remain an independent state. The Nizam hoped to maintain the same relation with Independent India that it was maintaining with British India, but with one exception, without the provision for stationing Indian troops in the states. Although Sardar Vallavbhai Patel favoured the use of force to annex Hyderabad, Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru was in favour of talks, and therefore India had signed the Standstill Agreement with the Nizam, maintaining the same relationship like before.

But soon after Hyderbad started violating the terms of the agreement, like giving a secret loan to Pakistan, interfering with Indian road and train communication etc. He had also raised an informal army named Razakars, which had become a threat to India.

Therefore the government of India had decided to annex Hyderabad by using invading the state. It is a known fact that Sardar Patel was behind this decision, as Nehru didn’t want to use force on Hyderabad.

Pakistan has no moral right on Kashmir, first provide same rights to own ethnic minorities: Pakistan minority leader Nadeem Nusrat

0

A day after the terrorist state of Pakistan attempted to interfere in India’s affairs by protesting against the historic decision of the Narendra Modi government’s decision to revoke special status to Jammu and Kashmir, prominent Mohajir leader Nadeem Nusrat said that Pakistan had “no moral right to speak on behalf of Kashmiris.”

According to the reports, Nadeem Nusrat, who is the chairperson of a US-based advocacy group called Voice of Karachi (VOK), stated that Pakistan must first provide the same rights to all ethnic minorities in its own territory before speaking on behalf of Kashmiris.

“Until Pakistan affords the same rights it is demanding for Kashmiris to its own Mohajir, Baloch, Pashtuns and Hazarah citizens, it has no moral right to speak on behalf of Kashmiris,” said Nusrat.

“While Pakistan demands right to a referendum in Kashmir, is it willing to grant the same right to its own disgruntled ethnic minorities?” questioned Mohajir leader.

He further added, “For decades, Pakistani ministers have been publicly conducting meetings with Kashmiri separatist leaders overseas. How would Pakistan react to Indian minister’s meetings with exiled Mohajir, Baloch and representatives of other persecuted ethnic or religious minorities of Pakistan?”

The US-based group, which represents expatriate Mohajirs, called for the creation of an autonomous “Greater Karachi” within Pakistan. The group advocated for complete autonomy to all ethnic communities and regions within Pakistan.

Nadeem Nusrat also announced that a global campaign will also be launched to escalate its demand for the restructuring of Pakistan. He added that they will soon issue the chief articles of its proposed constitution a day before Pakistan’s Independence Day.

As India rendered Article 370 defunct and bifurcated Jammu and Kashmir, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry had condemned the decision saying it was as a violation of United Nations resolutions.  In a statement, Pakistan Foreign Ministry said on Monday, “Pakistan will exercise all possible options to counter the illegal steps.”

Jammu and Kashmir includes PoK and Aksai Chin too, will lay down life for it: Home Minister Amit Shah roars in Parliament

A day after the Rajya Sabha approved a resolution stripping Article 370 for Jammu and Kashmir and a bill to bifurcate the state into two Union Territories, the Lok Sabha began the discussion on the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill on Tuesday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah moved the resolution to revoke Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, in Lok Sabha and to bifurcate the state into two Union Territories.

Congress Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury rose to speak in the Lok Sabha and sought to know from Amit Shah that how can he change the status of Jammu and Kashmir without taking other stakeholders into consideration. He said that the government brought in these rules in an illegal manner.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhry further demanded an explanation from the government on whether Kashmir is a bilateral issue or not. “You say that it is an internal matter. But it is being monitored since 1948 by the UN, is that an internal matter? We signed the Shimla Agreement & Lahore Declaration, what that an internal matter or bilateral?” said Chowdhry.

“I don’t think you are thinking about PoK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir), you violated all rules and converted a state into a Union Territory overnight,” Adhir Chowdhury said.

As Adhir Ranjan Chowdhry questioned the legality of the union government to make laws on the region of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah slammed Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury for questioning the Parliament’s power to amend the status of the Jammu and Kashmir.

He said, “You should clarify on the floor of the House whether it is your party’s stated position that the UN has the right to intervene in the matter of Jammu and Kashmir. Why do you question the Parliament’s authority to decide on its own territory’s fate.”

An infuriated Amit Shah said that PoK is an integral part of India and should never be considered separate from Jammu and Kashmir. He asserted that we will lay down our lives for it.

“When I speak of Jammu and Kashmir, I also include Pakistan occupied Kashmir and Aksai Chin as a part of the territory,” added Home Minister Amit Shah in his reply.

How Indian ‘liberals’ supporting Article 370 are like the racists in 50s and 60s America

Yesterday, the Government of India scrapped Article 370, making every Indian an equal citizen, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. It sent Indian liberals into a tizzy.

All through the day, the government faced all sorts of absurd questions. How can a Constitutional change be made so quickly, they asked, completely forgetting that Article 35A was sneaked into the Constitution through a Presidential decree in 1954, like a thief in the night. Completely forgetting that Article 370 was supposed to be a temporary provision. There were the typical allegations of the government resorting to majoritarian rule. As if democracy is anything else. One liberal went so far as to suggest that this decision of the Govt of India, which makes everyone an equal citizen, is comparable to untouchability or the lynching of black people in the US back in the 50s and 60s!

And people wonder why it is so hard to take liberal “intellectuals” seriously.

I would have laughed away the ridiculous comparison, except that the person in question happened to be a much-decorated “Professor” of all kinds of made-up stuff. His words are usually taken seriously and often quoted in newspapers and on television.

So it really got me thinking about the history of racial injustice, segregation and how it was countered. That’s when you realize just how frightening and regressive the Indian liberal stance on Article 370 really is.

Untitled.png

This is a famous 1963 photograph of Alabama Governor George Wallace standing in protest at the door of the University of Alabama. His mission? To prevent black students from entering the all-white university.

But because of an order from a federal judge, the governor of the state can do nothing. He must allow black students at the university.

The governor insists that the federal government has no right to interfere at the state university and let black students in. He does so in the name of “states rights.”

Sound familiar?

How different is this from those who speak of the autonomy of Jammu and Kashmir and say that Indian citizens from all other states must stay out? How far are Indian liberals from “standing at the door” like Governor George Wallace, demanding that India must enforce segregation?

When you go further into details, you see that the arguments being bandied around by liberals in support of Article 370 are uncannily similar to those of racial segregationists in the United States.

You see, until around 1965, a bunch of American states used to enforce what were called “Jim Crow laws.” These laws mandated segregation between white people and black people in all public spaces. Separate schools, separate clubs, separate bathrooms and the like. And black people would have to sit in a separate section at the back of the bus.

Then, in the 1950s, a period of reformation began. In 1954, the US Supreme Court famously ruled (Brown v Board of Education) that states could no longer segregate schools by race.

What was the excuse of those who wanted to keep the schools segregated? States’ rights!

Then, in 1964, the Federal Government passed the Civil Rights Act which said no government could discriminate on the basis of race.

How did the racists fight back? You guessed it: States’ rights!

In 1965, the Federal Government passed the Voting Rights Act, which imposed special rules on states and districts with a reputation for preventing black people from voting by various means.

How did the racists fight back? You guessed it: States’ rights!

And today, how are liberals trying to stop the Govt of India from making everyone an equal citizen? States’ rights! The autonomy of J&K, they say.

In 1973, the US Supreme Court handed down another landmark judgement in the case of Roe v Wade, giving women everywhere the right to decide whether to have an abortion.

How did the opponents fight back against the liberation of women? They said it was interfering with states’ rights.

Today when the abolition of Article 370 has finally given equal property rights to Kashmiri women, how are liberals fighting back? They say it is against the autonomy of J&K!

Why was homosexuality still a crime in J&K despite the SC judgement last year? Because of Article 370. Now that gay people have rights in J&K, how are liberals trying to block them?

By using the excuse of states’ rights!

So that’s Indian liberalism for you. Supporting segregation by race. Against property rights for women. Supporting the criminalization of homosexuality. By using the same argument that racial segregationists used to employ in the US in the 1950s and 1960s.

Oh and before we forget: why did the Civil War happen in the United States? Because the Southern states wanted to keep slavery. They argued that the Federal Government abolishing slavery was against the autonomy of states.

So Indian liberals, like that Alabama Governor, can “stand in the door” all they want, supporting Article 370 and crying for “states’ rights.” But history will not be kind to them.
