UP girl who was traced in Rajasthan admits in SC she left on her own will, ruling out abduction charges against Swami Chinmayanand

There have been many twists in the BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand’s sexual abuse case, which has gained traction in the media recently. Various media outlets have been highlighting the abduction angle in the case after UP police filed an FIR against Swami Chinmayanand, booking him for abduction and intimidation on the basis of the victim’s father’s complaint.

The UP police, on Friday, managed to trace the alleged victim in Rajasthan and produced her in Supreme Court the same day. She told the court that she had gone to Delhi and then Rajasthan on her own will with her friend. With her statement recorded in court, the allegation of a ‘kidnapping’ angle in the case can be ruled out now.

The Uttar Pradesh LLM student, who had initially accused BJP MP and former Union Minister Chinmayanand of sexually harassing her, after being produced before the Supreme Court yesterday withing hours of being traced by police, told the judges in an in-camera interaction that she had left Shahjahanpur with her three college mates on her own will “in order to protect herself.”

On the court’s orders, the girl’s parents are will be brought to Delhi to meet her. Apart from the parents, the woman’s two younger siblings are also on their way to Delhi. “The Delhi Police team arrived in Shahjahanpur and gave us a copy of the Supreme Court order before taking us to Delhi to meet our daughter,” the father of the law student told news agency PTI on phone.

The victim had expressed her inhibitions of returning to her hometown in Uttar Pradesh until she meets her parents. The SC ordered that the woman will be in Delhi for four days until the next hearing, which is scheduled on September 2 and that her safety will be ensured.

Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh police have been exploring legal options to arrest Sanjay Singh, the extortionist and victim’s friend who had allegedly sent a WhatsApp message demanding a ransom of Rs 5 crore from Chinamayanand. He was with the girl in Rajasthan, and he was also produced along with the girl in Supreme Court on Friday.

Sources in the Uttar Pradesh police confirmed that the Whatsapp message demanding Rs 5 crore was sent to the BJP leader, obtaining a QR code by generating a pin on a SIM belonging to someone else. The number used to send the extortion message was 860420**** on August 22 at 12.53 PM.

Though Swami Chinmayanad’s comment on the issue could not be registered until now, his lawyer Om Singh confirmed they would continue to seek charges of criminal intimidation against the girl’s friend. He added since the girl had been traced, the abduction charges on Swami Chinmayanand do not hold any grounds.

The law student from Uttar Pradesh, who went ‘missing’ for nearly a week, after releasing a video in which she accused BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand of sexual abuse, was traced in Rajasthan on Friday.

A team of UP Police recovered the woman from a hotel near Mehandipur Balaji temple in Dausa. According to the Bareilly deputy inspector general (DGP) of police Rajesh Kumar Pandey, “After the missing law student was spotted in Delhi on August 24, police teams were sent to her hotel but she had left the place before police reached there. Thereafter, she had stopped using her phone, but we got in touch with the cab driver, whose phone they had used to contact with two persons who were providing them support We started following both the persons. On Friday morning, one of them used their debit card to withdraw money from an ATM in Dausa. Our team rushed to Dausa and recovered the CCTV footage of the ATM, in which the student was also spotted. We later recovered the girl from a hotel near Mehandipur Balaji Temple.”

At first, the UP police had said the woman had been found with a friend and was being taken home in Uttar Pradesh but then the police team had to suddenly change the route and proceed towards Delhi from Fatehpur Sikri after the apex court directed them to produce the woman in court on Friday itself.

The Court had taken suo motu cognizance of the incident after a group of lawyers had written a letter to the Court urging for the same. The matter was mentioned before the Bench headed by Justice NV Ramanaon Wednesday.

The LLM student from the Swami Shukdevanand Law College (SS Law College) in Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh had released a video on social media on August 23, levelling allegations of sexual harassment against BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand.

In the video posted on Friday, the girl alleged that Chinmayanand, the director of her college, is threatening to kill her and her family as she has evidence that could land him in trouble. She asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath for help. The student, however, went missing three days after the allegations were made. This had raised suspicion that the BJP leader had abducted her, and accordingly police had registered a case against him.

Earlier, Swami Chinmayanand had stated that he was being framed in the case as a part of a big conspiracy to malign the Uttar Pradesh government’s reputation.

The court will hear the matter again on Monday.

Pakistan fake news machinery working overtime to spread fake news using Indian names: Maharashtra Cyber Cell

Pakistan fake machine peddling industry is on an overdrive since the time India abrogated Article 370 granting special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Various social media accounts created by people in Pakistan have been pushing their agenda by spreading ‘fake news’ to shame India globally.

Brijesh Singh, Special Inspector General (SIG) of Police, Maharashtra Cyber on Saturday said while Pakistan based social media accounts are trying to discredit India, it is the responsibility of the people here to verify the information before disseminating it.

According to a news report, Singh asserted that many fake accounts created with Indian names belonging to Pakistan are working overtime to spread provocative content across social media. These accounts are especially targetting the Indian Armed Forces to defame them.

“Several fake accounts with Indian names are being made on social media. These accounts are posting inflammatory content. It was observed that such things are being done from the Pakistan side, a campaign is being undertaken,” Singh added.

He further added that fake videos and photos are being circulated and used out of context to propagate that India is executing a genocide of its people in the valley. Ironically, the verified (blue tick) accounts of Pakistan are also sharing such the unverified reports.

Singh shared an instance of fake news wherein a military colonel’s picture was shared across social media platforms and people were made to believe that he would be quitting the Army.

“People create such fake accounts in a systematic manner and by adopting a particular kind of language. People should be aware of such accounts and they should visit the profile and check it thoroughly. These accounts also post several screenshots which cannot be actually verified,” asserted Singh.

Singh appealed to people to verify the information before sharing it online especially the content that targets India, Army or Police negatively as such attempts could be manufactured endeavors to tarnish the country or national institutions.

Singh further added that some accounts have resorted to passing on information dating back two to three years as current news. Upon investigating, such accounts were found to be actively posting fake news on social media.

“Certain accounts share outdated images or videos so verifying such content is difficult but what general public can do is, they can simply put that image on Google search engine and it will show how old that image is, in case the content is outdated,” Singh added.

Three weeks after Jalil Sheikh killed wife for refusing to get into prostitution, Delhi police nab him from West Bengal

In another depraved act, a 27-year-old Delhi resident, Jalil Sheikh, killed his wife Fatema Sardar for refusing to get into prostitution. Nearly three weeks after the incident took place, Delhi police confirmed on Saturday that the accused has been finally apprehended from West Bengal.

Fatema Sardar, who was Jalil Sheikh’s second wife, got married to him in the year 2014. For the last seven to eight months, they had been living in a rented house in West Sagarpur in Delhi. His first wife lives in Bengal, from where Jalil and Fatema originally hail.

Southwest Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Devender Arya said Jalil was forcing Fatema into prostitution but she was resisting him. Irked over her continuous resentment, Jalil killed her on August 5. He then wrapped the body in a blanket and stuffed it in a plastic bag and dumped it near a ‘Barat Ghar’ in Sagarpur. He thereafter escaped to his home state of West Bengal, Arya said.

Police confirmed that they recovered the body a day later, on August 6. In its efforts to locate the accused, Delhi police published circulars with pictures of the duo. On August 17, police received a call from West Bengal. The caller confirmed that one of the photo Delhi police had published in a notice matched with that of his relative, Fatema Sardar, from South 24 Parganas district.

The caller also provided other details about Fatema for verification such as she lived in West Sagarpur with husband Jalil.

Following this input, the Delhi police on Wednesday arrested Jalil, who also has a past criminal record, from a railway station in Kolkata when he came there to sell his motorcycle, DCP Arya said. The accused has been previously arrested in a human trafficking case in West Bengal.

Meanwhile, after a post-mortem examination, Fatema’s body was handed over to her father and uncle.

Delhi Police arrests Mohammed Ayub accused of slitting girlfriend’s throat, chopping body into pieces for rejecting marriage proposal

A team of Delhi police special cell which was on the lookout for one Mohammed Ayub Vicky (32), a resident of Turkman Gate, accused of murdering his girlfriend in cold blood on August 20, finally nabbed him on Saturday. The man is accused of brutally slitting his girlfriend’s throat and thereafter chopping her body in small pieces and dumping it into the canal.

According to reports, Ayub met the victim, Lata alias Salma, during his first visit to a brothel at GB Road which runs from Ajmeri Gate to Lahori Gate, in Delhi, where Lata had been working as a sex worker. Ayub who was then already married with three children out of the first marriage fell in love with Lata.

After an extra-marital affair that went on for four years, Ayub started forcing Lata to quit her profession and live with him instead. Ayub also asked Lata to marry him, despite being already married for over ten years. Miffed by continuous rejection, Ayub conspired to end Lata’s life.

On August 20, Ayub asked Lata to accompany him for an evening stroll. He came prepared with a borrowed scooty and a butcher’s knife hidden inside it. Ayub then took Lata near Bawana canal. He waited for an opportune moment and after reaching an isolated spot, slit Lata’s throat. Ayub then chopped Lata’s body into five pieces so that the body would not be identified and threw the body in the Bawana canal.

Next day though the body was recovered from the canal it remained unidentifiable due to the severe mutilation and subsequent decomposition. A case was registered by the police under Sections 304 and 201 of Indian Penal Code at Kailashnath Katju marg police station after recovering the mutilated body from the canal, and police had started looking for missing person complaints as the body could not be recognised.

On August 30, the Special Cell of Delhi police received a tip-off of Ayub’s whereabouts, who was apparently trying to flee Delhi. The accused was on his way to the Turkman Gate area with an intention to flee Delhi, when the police laid a trap. Around 2.30 pm on August 31 (Saturday), Ayub was apprehended by the police and the scooty which he used to carry out the heinous murder was recovered from his possession.

Shashi Tharoor reportedly spent three nights in Dubai with a Pakistani journalist: Prosecutor in Sunanda Pushkar murder case

The prosecutor in the Sunanda Pushkar case has made an explosive allegation against the Congress leader Shashi Tharoor claiming that the MP from Trivandrum had spent three nights in Dubai with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar, referring to assertions made by Sunanda Pushkar’s journalist friend.

Quoting journalist Nalini Singh, who was reportedly a close confidant of Sunanda Pushkar, public prosecutor Atul Srivastava said that Sunanda Pushkar herself shared the explosive revelation that Tharoor had spent three nights with Tarar in Dubai. He read Nalini Singh’s statement that said, “I knew Sunanda for 3-4 years. For last one year she started sharing about her personal life. She shared her relationship problems with Tharoor and told me that Tharoor and Tarar spent three nights together.”

The statement by Singh also mentioned that she was contacted by a weeping Sunanda, a day before her death, saying that Tharoor and Tarar also shared romantic messages with each other. It is pertinent to note that a few days before Sunanda’s death, Sunanda had allegedly shared an affectionate conversation between Tharoor and Tarar on Twitter, sparking a widespread controversy over Tharoor’s alleged infidelity.

These tweets hit the national headline as Congress’ most eloquent and suave politician was smeared with the allegations of disloyalty and brought out in open his family dispute. Sunanda Pushkar was found dead under mysterious circumstances two days after these tweets surfaced on Twitter 17 January 2014.

Srivastava also cited the Tarun Tejpal judgment by the Supreme Court that observed, “Even mental torture can amount to cruelty”. However, Pushkar’s son Shiv Menon said that her mother was a strong lady and she cannot commit suicide. Prosecutor Srivastava also quoted Sunanda Pushkar’s brother Ashish who said his elder sister (Sunanda) was a brave lady who could have never committed suicide.

The Delhi Police, on the other hand, had exhorted a city court to prosecute Congress MP Shashi Tharoor for abetment to suicide or “in alternative” on murder charge in the case of unnatural death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.

Chhattisgarh: Central school’s principal arrested for ‘hushing up’ 5-year-old student’s rape in school

In a most shameful act, the principal of a Kendriya Vidyalaya school in Raipur, Chattisgarh had tried to ‘hush up’ the rape of a class 1 student in his school premises. He has been now arrested by the Raipur police for the same.

“Kendriya Vidyalaya principal B S Ahire was arrested by Khamtarai police on Friday for allegedly not reporting the rape incident to police or any other competent authority even after he came to know about it,” Khamtarai police station SHO Ramakant Sahu told PTI.

Last week on August 20, a minor was allegedly raped by three 10-year-old boys of Class-5 in the Kendriya Vidyalaya school’s bathroom. This branch of Kendriya Vidyalaya is located in Khamtarai police station limits in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

After the girl narrated the incident to her parents, they lodged a written complaint to the school administration which in turn constituted a probe team instead of informing the police, which only came to know about it the next day.

The principal B S Ahire not only delayed in passing on the information to the police but also allegedly pressurised the parents not to lodge any police complaint on the incident. This had ultimately led to a stir between the school authorities and the infuriated relatives of the survivor. After the school authorities failed to take any action the relatives of the victim approached the police on August 22.

“The police investigated the incident after registering the case of sexual assault under the relevant sections of the POCSO Act. The medical test confirmed the rape. Instead of immediately informing the magistrate, police or Bal Kalyan officer, the school on its own began the investigation into it. The principal was arrested and produced before the court of a chief judicial magistrate. He was later released on bail,” Town inspector Ramakant Sahu said.

After the parents of the girl approached police on Thursday, the three minor students were booked under section 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and sections 376 (Punishment for rape) and 354 A (Sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). They have been sent to a juvenile home, the SHO added.

Kerala: Pakistani flag waved at student union election campaign, police book 25 persons in Kozhikode

More than 25 students from a college in Kerala were booked by the police for allegedly waving Pakistan’s flag. The incident of flag-waving took place on Thursday when the students belonging to Muslim Students Front (MSF) were carrying out a rally as part of the student union elections campaign inside Perambra Silver college campus in Kozhikode district.

As can be seen in the video, the college students waved a giant flag that resembled the flag of Pakistan in the college campus. The incident happened in the Perambara Silver College, Kozhikode. The student activists of MSF, in their defence, put forth a feeble defence that their flag appears like Pakistan’s flag when turned upside down and because of this, they claim a misunderstanding had happened.

The local police have filed a case against the students and booked them under relevant IPC sections 143, 147, 153 and 149. The police say that further proceedings will be carried out after verifying the identity of the students involved in the incident.

The BJP, on the other hand, has claimed that terrorists have taken control over the college and they are inciting anarchy and unrest in the state to fan discord among the people.

Of late, there have been several alarming reports of rampant Islamism being carried out in the southern state of Kerala. Some reports even suggest that the terrorists who carried out the gruesome attack in Srilanka which left 250 dead were trained in Kerala. Kerala has become a hotbed for Jihadi recruitment as many Keralites have been found to have been associated with the terror outfit ISIS.

As UAE continues to back India, frustrated Imran Khan dials up Abu Dhabi Crown Prince to whine about Kashmir

0

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan’s desperation is making him do several outlandish things. Though PM Modi has categorically specified that the Kashmir issue is our ‘internal matter’, Imran Khan is somehow not willing to relinquish. He on Friday dialled up the Crown Prince of the UAE Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayed to apprise him of the developments in Jammu and Kashmir.

Amusingly this comes after Zayed on Monday conferred the UAE’s highest civilian award ‘Order of Zayed’ on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi.

Imran Khan informed the Crown Prince about the weeks-long curfew in Jammu and Kashmir which has resulted in dire human rights and humanitarian situation, as presumed by the Pakistan Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Imran Khan, who is in a habit to lie through his teeth, underlined that India’s alleged ceasefire violations on the Line of Control (LoC) had intensified.

Continuing his rhetorics, Khan also claimed that there was a serious possibility of “false flag operation” that India may stage to divert the world’s attention from its “crimes” in Jammu and Kashmir.

“The Prime Minister said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were looking for strong support of the Islamic States,” according to a statement issued by the PMO. Imran Khan said that the people of Pakistan had high hopes from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries, including the UAE.

It becomes imperative here to remind Imran Khan that PM Modi’s personal diplomatic outreach has yielded great results for India as far as the Muslim world is concerned. Its relationship with Islamic nations is better than ever before. Several other Islamic nations have also honoured PM Modi with their highest civilian award in the recent past, and none of them have objected to India’s decisions on Jammu and Kashmir.

Since India has gone ahead to abrogate Article 370 which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and also bifurcate the state into two Union Territories, Pakistan has not left any stone unturned in trying to create tensions fro India but has remained unsuccessful.

Probably it’s this setback which is making Imran Khan’s loose his mental balance. In his desperation, he forgets that UAE was amongst the various other nations which had backed India on Article 370 agreeing that it is India’s internal matter.

Moreover, UEA had recently conferred PM Narendra Modi with ‘The King Hamad Order of the Renaissance’ by King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the ‘Order of Zayed’, the highest civilian honour of UAE.

Interestingly, this decision of the UAE to honour India’s Prime Minister had spooked Pakistan to the extent that it had decided to skip its pre-scheduled trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Pakistan Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani had decided to cancel an official visit of his parliamentary delegation to the UAE over Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi receiving the highest civilian honour in UAE.

The ‘Feminist’ objection to Akshay Kumar featuring as P Gopichand is, like most ‘feminist’ rants nowadays, devoid of any logic

Akshay Kumar is the latest person to attract the ire of feminists. His crime? He is doing his job: acting. As per reports, Akshay Kumar is slated to play PV Sindhu’s coach, Pulella Gopichand in a biopic on the Badminton superstar who is well on her way to becoming a legend. However, Feminists aren’t pleased by the casting.

The objection seems rather bewildering. Certainly, a woman can’t play Gopichand’s character in the biopic. It is safe to say that Gopichand identifies as a man, therefore, even the gender politics theory doesn’t work.

Even the argument does not make any sense because, in the movie ‘Padman’, Akshay had played the role of the ‘Padman’, a man who goes to great lengths to ensure women have access to cheap and easily available sanitary napkins sans the social taboo. In the movie Mission Mangal, Akshay had played only a part in a story where there were many female characters. So, either the ‘feminists’ here want a ‘women-only’ movie or they do not want certain stories of women being told because male characters have played certain parts. This is not possible in a real-world scenario.

Moreover, many liberals seem to have a problem with Akshay Kumar because he has been promoting ‘nationalism’ in his movies. Moreover. Akshay Kumar had interviewed the Prime Minister before the general elections and that had earned him the ire of many ‘secular-liberals’. In present times, once a person acquires the secular-liberal mindset, facts and logic stop meaning anything to them. So facts, like Akshay Kumar being probably one of the very few actors in a certain age-group who still carry the films on their shoulders and his films being the scarce few ‘successful’ ones that Bollywood produces without the usual ‘masala’ of stunts and dance numbers probably do not mean much to these ‘feminists’.

Vidya Krishnan wasn’t the only one to object to Akshay Kumar featuring in the biopic. Other people too mocked him for it.

The entire charade only goes on to show that there’s no winning if you play the game on terms set by feminists. Constantly, male celebrities were told that they should empower women through the movies they make, that they should be ‘allies’ in empowering women. Here is Akshay Kumar, featuring in women-centric movies telling important stories about the struggles and achievements of women. And yet, feminists aren’t happy because they believe he is taking away the spotlight from the women.

We aren’t entirely sure either what sin did Akshay Kumar commit, or for that matter, the producers and directors of the yet to be made movie commit. The characters Akshay Kumar portrays were men in real life too, the genders of the characters were not deliberately changed to accommodate the Bollywood superstar.

The producers and directors cannot be blamed for packing their movie with some star-power. A lot of investment in terms of financial resources, time, emotions is made in a movie, it’s only natural for the people involved to try and go the extra mile to secure success. It’s a very natural human emotion, we want to ensure that our efforts succeed, it’s reprehensible to demonize them for that.

The objection to Akshay Kumar featuring as Pulella Gopichand in PV Sindhu’s biopic is particularly amusing. Gopichand is an integral part of Sindhu’s success story, he is not an insignificant character whose importance will be blown out of proportion merely because Akshay Kumar is playing the role.

The relationship between a coach and his player is extremely personal and a significant share of the success does depend on the coach. Sindhu wouldn’t deny that herself. She certainly has nothing but immense gratitude, respect, and love for her coach. Under such circumstances, it appears rather bewildering that feminists would object to a star with necessary attributes playing the role of Gopichand.

Sindhu’s story is not Sindhu’s alone. It is the story of her parents who worked hard to ensure her success. It is the story of her coach who believed in her and had faith in her abilities when, perhaps, even she didn’t. If a biopic has to capture the real essence of the sportswoman’s life, then it has to assemble a cast that could do justice to it. It’s only natural and it is the correct way to proceed.

For instance, if someone were to make a biopic on Rafael Nadal, would it be considered sensible if a not-so-capable actor were hired to play the role of his coach, Uncle Toni? If someone were to make a biopic on the Class of 92, does it not make absolute sense to hire a superstar to play the role of Sir Alex Ferguson?

The biopic is about PV Sindhu, the film, if and when it is made, will obviously revolve around her. But it cannot be ignored that Gopichand is an integral feature of the story and it only makes sense, from a commercial as well as an aesthetic perspective, that a star plays the role. Feminists can continue to object to it but it doesn’t take anything away from the fact that their objections are juvenile.

Family of kidnapped Sikh girl in Pakistan confirms she has not returned, says reports of her return and arrest of kidnappers are fake

Media reports earlier in the day claimed that the Pakistani Sikh girl Jagjit Kaur, who was kidnapped and forcibly converted to Islam in Pakistan, has finally returned home to her parents. Following widespread outrage over rampant forced conversions and the Pakistan government’s inaction, police in Nankana Sahib had informed that the girl has been found and has been handed over to her family. The eight persons arrested include the father of the man who forcibly married the girl.

Now, her family has issued a statement denying such claims as fake news and has clarified that she remains missing.

“Our sister still hasn’t been returned to us despite promises made by the Federal Interior Minister yesterday,” said the brother of the girl. He also alleged that the police are not cooperating and the family is under pressure from Jama’at-ud-Da’wah (JuD). He said that neither the girl has been returned, nor anybody has been arrested in the case, adding that fake news was being spread on this matter.

The family has reiterated their appeal to Pakistani authorities, including Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, that the kidnapped girl be rescued and returned to them.

According to the reports, the girl, identified as 19-year old Jagjit Kaur, was allegedly kidnapped and forced to marry a Muslim man in Pakistan. Reportedly, the Pakistani man, who forcibly converted and married Sikh girl is affiliated to 2008 Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed’s proscribed terror outfit Jama’at-ud-Da’wah (JuD).

The Indian government has also raised the issue with Pakistan and asked for “immediate remedial action”.

The incident came to light on Thursday after a Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA, Manjinder Singh Sirsa shared a video of the girl’s family alleging that the girl was kidnapped and forcefully converted.

The incident had drawn the attention of Sikhs worldwide and sparked anger in the community. The matter had raised a huge furore in India with several political leaders across parties asking for action to be taken against the perpetrators.
