‘Sweets were distributed in DD News office when US denied visa to Narendra Modi’

How the dedicated news arm of the national broadcaster – called Doordarshan News or DD News – was misused by the UPA government between the years 2004-2014 has been revealed in a book titled “Narendra Modi Censored” written by DD news anchor and journalist Ashok Shrivastav.

The book is primarily about an interview of Narendra Modi that was aired on DD News in the run up to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. It was conducted by Ashok Shrivastav but was aired after much delay and blatant attempts to censor it.

Even after airing, it got mired in controversies as Times of India spread misinformation about what was censored by DD News, possibly on orders of those in powers. In course of recalling the string of incidents around that interview, Ashok Shrivastav also reveals in his book how a public institution was used to target a political opponent by the Congress party.

The book reveals that once UPA came to power in 2004, a special cell was constituted in DD News to run news stories, documentaries, programs etc. to target Narendra Modi, especially around the 2002 post-Godhra riots. Not everyone was allowed to walk into this cell which was housed in room no. 123. Controversial ‘activist’ Teesta Setalvad was a special and regular visitor to the cell.

“They used to joke that Narendra Modi will go 9-2-11 (a Hindi phrase meaning an act of running away) due to this 1-2-3 cell,” Ashok writes in his book.

This special cell also used to create content in support of UPA government’s programs and policies and had become a ‘power centre’ in Doordarshan, the book says. The cell, supposed to do journalistic work, even used to celebrate Sonia Gandhi’s birthday on December 9 by distributing sweets, much to the embarrassment of many.

What embarrassed and shocked Ashok Shrivastav and some other journalists working at DD News no end, was when this cell distributed sweets in the wake of Narendra Modi, then the Chief Minister of Gujarat, being denied visa by the United States back in 2005.

However, no one spoke anything against such practices as the cell had a Congress member as ‘consultant’ and employees at Doordarshan had witnessed how dozens of journalists – primarily those who had joined along with Deepak Chaurasia – were forced to resign once UPA came to power in 2004.

The book claims that during the 2007 Gujarat assembly elections, Doordarshan’s team of reporters was taking editorial orders from this ‘consultant’ and Teesta Setalvad. The special powers of this cell were diluted after the 2009 Lok Sabha elections – possibly due to internal politics of Congress, Ashok writes – though it continued to target Modi.

Doordarshan continued to unofficially ban any good news about Narendra Modi or good work done by his Gujarat government, and thus it was hugely surprising for Ashok Shrivastav when the public broadcaster gave a go-ahead for the interview of Narendra Modi. However, this surprise was followed by many shocking incidents, about which Ashok has written in detail in his book “Narendra Modi Censored”.

The book, written in Hindi, is a good reminder of how much ‘free’ media was under Congress rule and how the current cries of ‘media under attack’ or ‘institutions under attack’ are mostly politically or ideologically motivated propaganda.

The book also reminds and vividly recounts the how Priyanka Gandhi was propped up even in the run up to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and there were even speculations of her fighting the elections from Varanasi against Narendra Modi. The same incidents are being repeated again now in the run up to 2019 elections.

As Sidhu toes Pakistan’s line yet again, Pakistan uses Congress’ official press conference to target India

As the Congress party continues echoing Pakistan in claiming that the Indian airstrikes in Pakistan did not hit any terror camp and demands proof of the strike, now comments made by Congress leaders are being used by Pakistan in spreading their propaganda.

Yesterday, Congress leader Manish Tewari had read out a resolution on Kashmir passed in the 46th session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers Meet. India was invited as a special guest in this meet. Pakistan had got the resolution passed in the OIC, which had condemned the ‘recent wave of Indian Terrorism in occupied Jammu and Kashmir’. Manish Tewari had attacked the Modi government for this resolution, saying it is a diplomatic failure of the government. He had said that the Indian government has got India declared as a terrorist state at the OIC.

The comment of the Congress leader was immediately lapped up by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the ruling party of Pakistan. The official Twitter handle of the party posted the video of Tewari’s press conference, and quoted that following the OIC resolution, Indian opposition parties have started questioning ‘warmonger Modi’. They also quoted Manish Tewari asking “can we not take care of the people of Kashmir”, which he had said referring to OIC asking member states to contribute humanitarian aid to Kashmiris in the resolution.

Earlier, Pakistan had used Indian media reports in its favour, now they have found that the comments of the largest opposition party of India echo their views. In an effort to attack the Modi government, Congress party spread Pakistani propaganda on Indian soil, that to without waiting for the conclusion of the OIC meet. Because in the final Abu Dhabi Declaration adopted after the 46th session of OIC, there was no mention of Kashmir. Although Pakistan was successful in getting the resolution passed, it failed in getting that included in the final declaration, due to the strong protest of India.

It can be noted that India is not a member of OIC, it was only invited as a special guest this year, and therefore India could not do anything when Pakistan tabled the resolution during the OIC session. But after it was made public, India issued a strong protest against the resolution, and therefore it was not included in the final Abu Dhabi Declaration. This has been seen as a huge diplomatic victory for India. But the Congress party was so excited to see an anti-India resolution that they didn’t bother to wait for the final declaration. Because for them, every anti-India step is nothing but just an opportunity to attack the Modi government.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders continue to repeat the Pakistani claim that Indian airstrike didn’t hit any terror camp and the bomb fell in a forest area. After Several Congress leaders demanding proof of the strike, pro-Pakistan Congress leader and Punjab minister Navjot Sing Sidhu echoed the Pakistani line and questioned Indian Air Force whether they were targeting terror camps or trees.

The Indian Air Force has reiterated that the operation against terror camps in Pakistan was successful, with Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa categorically stating IAF has successfully hit the target that was intended to be hit. He had said that  “If we plan to hit the target, we hit the target, otherwise, why would he (Pakistan PM) have responded, if we dropped bombs in the jungles why would he respond.”

But for the Congress leaders, Pakistani version is more credible than the version of Indian defence forces. No wonder Pakistan finds their comments suitable for their propaganda, and uses the Comments of Indian political leaders to attack India.

Balakot airstrikes : ‘If we plan to hit the target, we hit the target’, asserts Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa

Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa on Monday categorically said that Indian Air Force has successfully hit the target that was intended to be hit, reported ANI.

Briefing the media on the Indian ‘non-military pre-emptive strikes’ against terror camps inside Pakistan, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa confirmed the strikes at terror camps and clarified that IAF was not in a postilion to clarify the number of casualties.

“The government will clarify that. We don’t count human casualties, we count what targets we have hit or not. We hit our target. The air force doesn’t calculate casualty numbers, the government does that”, Dhanoa added.

BS Dhanoa further added that “If we plan to hit the target, we hit the target, otherwise, why would he (Pak PM) have responded, if we dropped bombs in the jungles why would he respond.”

While speaking on Mig-21 Bison, he said, “One is a planned operation in which you plan & carry out. But when an adversary does a strike on you, every available aircraft goes in, irrespective of which aircraft it is. All aircraft are capable of fighting the enemy. The Mig-21 Bison is a capable aircraft, it has been upgraded, it has better radar, air-to-air missiles and better weapons system.”

Responding to the question of Wing Commander Abhinandan’s return, Air Chief Marshal said that the medical fitness of Wing Commander will depend on whether he returns to fighting stream. “That’s why post-ejection, he has undergone a medical check. Whatever treatment required, will be given. Once we get his medical fitness, he will get into the fighter cockpit,” clarified Dhanoa.

The Air Chief response comes at the backdrop of opposition parties, especially Congress raising questions over the impact of the strike, aided by Congress backed media reports that have been putting confusing reports to discredit the Narendra Modi led union government for sanctioning such attacks.

Are you from the ‘regular army’? Wing Commander Abhinandan trolls Pakistan while in their custody

In a propaganda video made by Pakistani army of Wing Commander Abhinandan when he was in their captivity, his good sense of humour and levelheadedness in the face of enemy comes out beautifully.

In another propaganda video released by Pakistani media, a blindfolded Wing Commander Abhinandan is asked by a man in a green military camouflage jacket, presumably from the Pakistani army what he thinks of the Pakistani army. The conversation goes something like this:

Man: So, Wing Commander Abhi?

Wg Cmdr Abhinandan (loud and clear): Yes, Sir!

Man: What are your views about the Pak army?

Wg Cmdr Abhinandan: I hold the Pak army in very high regards and I was hoping there would be a Pak army officer would get me… I know the Pakistani army is also of soldiers… that is why the first question I asked you was ‘are you from the regular army’?

It is widely believed that the Pakistani Army is hand in gloves with the terrorists flourishing on Pakistani soil, with reports that Masood Azhar, the Jaish-e-Mohammad chief was undergoing treatment at the Army hospital in Rawalpindi for his kidney ailment. Wing Commander’s sly reference to the parallel army in Pakistan despite being in their captivity just goes out to show how his grit and determination in the face of what could have been a near-certain death.

Note: OpIndia would not like to give Pakistani propaganda, by showing Wing Commander Abhinandan in a state of captivity, a platform and hence we are not sharing the video. The conversation is reproduced here just to show the exemplary courage shown by our soldier even when he is held captive by the enemy.

Airforce Chief Marshal Dhanoa makes a stunning revelation, says ‘cannot comment on ongoing operations’

The Air Chief Marshal today in a press conference made a striking revelation about what seems like the continuation of the anti-terror operations against Pakistan based terrorists.

Addressing the press in Coimbatore, Dhanoa affirmed that the Airforce pilots had hit the intended target in Balakot. When questioned about the number of terrorists killed, Dhanoa replied back, “IAF is not in a postilion to clarify the number of casualties. The government will clarify that. We don’t count human casualties, we count what targets we have hit or not.”

Regarding the question on the state of operations undergoing at the LoC, Air Chief Dhanoa said, “It is an ongoing operation I will not comment on it.” He was asked about why MiG21 Bisons were used to which he said that the Mig21 is a capable aircraft as it has been upgraded. He also said that it was better radar, air to air missiles and better weapons system. He then said that he cannot comment on ‘ongoing operations’.

This is a big statement coming from the Air Chief Marshal in the aftermath of the Pakistani Airforce’s unscrupulous attempt to attack Indian military bases was foiled by the vigilant Indian fighter jets. Since then Pakistan has been feverishly imploring India to de-escalate the situation transpired along the border. Air Chief Marshal’s statements suggest Indian Airforce is in the mood to relent the pressure mounted on Pakistan.

Many opposition politicians in India had questioned for proof or evidence that suggest the targets were hit in Balakot. Responding to this Air Chief Marshal Dhanoa said, “ If we plan to hit the target, we hit the target. If we had dropped bombs in a jungle, he (Imran Khan) would not have responded.”

In the wee hours of February 26, 2019, 12 Mirage 2000 aircraft of the Indian airforce flew deep inside Pakistani territory and bombed a major Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist camp to dust in Balakot. It was an operation immaculately planned and executed with pinpoint precision by the Indian Airforce.

Pro-AAP video blogger associated with Dhruv Rathee caught spreading fake audio on Pulwama attack

The Pulwama terror attack has brought forward the burning issue that over and above fighting the enemy across the border, we have the enemy within, which is equally dangerous, to fight. A man associated with the pro AAP video blogger Dhruv Rathee who regularly floats conspiracy theories was caught spreading fake audio clip on Pulwama attack, claiming that the Pulwama attack was an inside job.

In a Facebook live post by Dhruv Rathee’s associate Avi Dandiya shared a dubious audio clip which he claimed to be that of a conversation between Home Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP President Amit Shah and an unidentified woman could be heard discussing a ‘plot’ for the terror attack which claimed lives of 44 CRPF soldiers on February 14. The video with over a million views is now deleted, but Avi Dandiya’s claims were picked up by various Pakistani websites to use against India.

Avi Dandiya story picked up by The News, Pakistan

The News, Pakistan described him as a former worker of the BJP who has ‘stepped forward’ alleging his former party of being responsible for the Pulwama attack.

The Post, Pakistan, used the fake audio clip shared by Avi Dandiya as ‘proof’ that the Pulwama attack was an inside job

Amusingly, a week before he released the fake audio clip, he ran a poll on Twitter asking his followers whether Pulwama attack was an inside job or an ‘outside job’.

84% of the 164 votes which he garnered voted for Pulwama being an inside job.

However, AltNews has found that Dandiya had mischievously edited parts of old interviews of Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah and added the voice of the unidentified lady to make it appear as if they are conspiring the Pulwama attack.

The audio clip was created by taking parts of old interviews/audio clips of politicians and using them out of context to make it appear like a conversation. Just let it sink in that someone spent time and energy going through thousands of interviews and video clips to find relevant portions to produce a fake audio clip which was then used for Pakistani propaganda that the Pulwama attack was carried out on the behest of the BJP.

Who is Avi Dandiya?

Indian media has mainstreamed Avi Dandiya by giving him legitimacy and screentime which was used to give credibility to the fake audio clip he shared. In a ‘discussion’ on the PNB scam, ABP News described Avi Dandiya as a ‘diamond trader’ in March 2018.

A video uploaded by ETV Rajasthan describes him as a Dallas-based man who was leading some cleaning initiative.

He was also seen interacting with Acharya Pramod, a Samajwadi Party supporting ‘Sadhu’ who had claimed that the Kerala floods happened due to beef consumption.

Dandiya had also been mainstreamed by pro-AAP video blogger Dhruv Rathee who invited him on a debate on demonitisation.

Dhruv Rathee with Avi Dandiya

Dandiya regularly collaborates with Rathee to spread propaganda through videos.

Facebook Live collaboration between Avi Dandiya and Dhruv Rathee

Meanwhile, Avi Dandiya’s Facebook page describes him as someone who has a ‘sea of knowledge about your own nation (India)’.

Avi Dandiya does not believe in awards.

Avi Dandiya is a one-stop destination for all information regarding India. His ‘comprehension of activities’ about India will ‘not only leave you amused but spellbound’. Dandiya forgot to add the portion where he also resorts to spreading fake audio clips aimed to create a panic situation in the nation he knows so much about. When he’s not busy making propaganda videos on Facebook, he doubles up as a ‘jewellery designer’ based in Texas.

Dandiya is an Arvind Kejriwal supporter and describes him as ‘Bhagat Singh’.

He also believes that if Pakistani PM Imran Khan wishes to be the Arvind Kejriwal of Pakistan, it will take a lot of effort and honesty.

Dandiya also likes to give Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan suggestions on how he could increase his stature in such sensitive time between the two nations.

He also likes to spread pro-Pakistan fake images.

In the above image, he tried to say that the file picture of Wing Commander Abhinandan is actually an ‘after’ picture of him after the Pakistanis brutally beat him up. That after brutally beating him up, Wg Cmdr Abhinandan posed happily with his assaulters.

Dandiya’s theories are in line with the deplorable conspiracy theories and caste politics the Leftists have floated in response to the Pulwama attack.

After PM Modi’s diplomatic victories post Balakot airstrikes, ones who derided him for his foreign visits are nowhere to be seen

I want to bring you a capsule of jibes and insults smeared on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and name them who mocked his foreign visits so in his second term, you remember them for poisoning your mind.

These are politicians, media houses, academicians and intellectuals who ought to be ashamed but never would now that the Pulwama aftermath has shown the world standing as one behind India against Pakistan sponsored-terrorism.

No UN Security Council resolution, no US armada parked in the Indian ocean, no China steamrolling our north-east happened even as India made airstrikes deep in Pakistan–not in war but in peacetime.

This was Modi’s finest hour and a vindication of his time and method on foreign trips even as these disgusting forces never lost a chance to haul the prime minister through the coals.

There were RTIs on who were the individuals who accompanied Modi on his foreign tours; how much it cost the nation (Shekhar Gupta); how much gifts he received. Newspapers reported with glee that Modi’s visit had cost the taxpayers upwards of Rs 2000 crores – even as this entire sum was not even 1 per cent of the Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) that these tours brought to the nation. For example, in 2017-18 alone, India received nearly 62 thousand million dollars as FDI. If the investment from UAE was $255 million in 2013-14, it went up to $1,050 million in 2016-2017, a rise of more than 300 per cent! (Rajdeep Sardesai compared expenses on Modi’s foreign tours with Manmohan Singh to show the former in poor light).

There were even RTIs on whether the expenses on clothes Modi wears is borne by taxpayers before it was revealed that the PM spent on it from his pocket. Remember Sagarika Ghose making a phoney allegation that Modi’s shawl was a Louis Vuitton—before the company clarified it was not in the business of making shawls).

When Modi gifted Bhagwad Gita to Shinzo Abe of Japan, the Congress spokesman Sanjay Jha tweeted: The ferocious communal cat is out of the bag, officially! (Who’s to tell him that Barack Obama, Benjamin Netanyahu or Shinzo Abe wore their religious affiliations in public with pride). Nobody praised Modi for his thoughtfulness as Xi Jinping got a Gita in Mandarin; Abe in Japanese and Obama a very special Mahatma Gandhi version with a Khadi cover. Akhilesh Yadav saw his visit to a mosque in Singapore during Ramzan as a bid to “appease” the minority. Kamal Nath viewed it as an attempt to “fool the nation.”

Modi evoking Gandhi on foreign trips was seen by Ramachandra Guha as an attempt to match Gandhi globally; Mamata Banerjee slammed him for his frequent foreign trips; Sashi Tharoor said Modi’s photo-ops abroad were tiresome.

Some of the reactions were outrageous – Sample Sitaram Yechury: “Forget bringing back black money from abroad, bring back the PM”; Or Raj Thackeray: In sequel to Bajrangi Bhaijan, Salman Khan would bring Modi back; Or Anand Sharma: We are concerned about his whereabouts; Or Derek O’ Brien: Please grant a visa to the PM to come to Rajya Sabha; Or Shatrughan Sinhamocking his Rwanda visit: Thoughtful of you to have gifted 200 cows (there) to a village.”

Mainstream journalists, as usual, were downright silly. Sankarshan Thakur doubted if Modi indeed visited Seine river during his trip to France (MEA duly flashed a picture to him); Mihir Sharma waved a picture showing Modi without a headphone in a conference in France (before netizens told him of a thing called ear-plugs. Barkha Dutt went hard about a certain Sajjan Jindal arranging Modi-Nawaz Sharif liaison. She claimed the two leaders met in the “privacy of Jindal’s hotel room.” The fact is it happened at a SAARC retreat. (journos feel terrible that Modi doesn’t take him on foreign visits—a matter on which Manmohan Singh, for example, was exceptionally accommodating.)

Remember what Congress made of Modi’s “hugplomacy”? (It’s another matter that Rahul Gandhi hugged Modi without provocation in the Parliament). They even brought out a sneering video.  Rahul Gandhi thought Modi was on a foreign tour spree because “bans on him are now lifted.” Digvijay Singh put it down to Modi’s love for tour-dals.

None of the newspapers or opposition made a fuss about Rahul Gandhi often disappearing on foreign tours secretly. In 2015, he went on a trip to 4 southeast nations for 60 days;  when Congress stitched an alliance with JD (S) in Karnataka, he promptly disappeared; indeed the joke is that the scion of Gandhi dynasty mostly lived abroad till 2014 and only visited India for summer vacations.  Most of such foreign jaunts were secrets: though it all changed when he began the “serious exercise” of interacting with global thinkers, technocrats and politicians (like in the US last year). The joke though is that the conferences were of “artificial intelligence.”

Lalu Yadav termed Modi as an NRI; Pinaryi Vijayan viewed his Israel visit as an alliance with a terrorist nation; Kejriwal, as usual, couldn’t have remained silent; but don’t be surprised that Chandrababu Naidu zipped his mouth on the matter—the Andhra Pradesh CM is notorious for his foreign visits.

Did you ever hear these odious forces praising Modi for making Saudi Arabia release 850 Indian prisoners in one go? Or that India is one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the world? How much increased foreign exchange earnings it has brought: the easing off visa process; e-visa profusion etc? Did they praise Modi for the balancing act he managed between traditional rivals such as Saudi Arabia and Iran; US and Russia; Israel and Palestine?

But don’t you think all are silent even in the aftermath of Pulwama and Balakot. Arundhati Roy is condemning Modi for “internationalizing” Kashmir issue. Roy calls India’s actions “reckless.” Kejriwal, of course, hinted that Pulwama was staged. The less said about Mehbooba Mufti or Omar Abdullah the better. None of them would point that Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) invited India even if it meant rebuking Pakistan.

Modi is right: from being anti-Modi, similar forces are now anti-India.

Karnataka: Rebel Congress MLA Umesh Jadhav resigns, might join BJP soon

Umesh Jadhav, one of the four rebel MLAs of Congress in Karnataka, has resigned from the party. According to reports, Jadav has submitted his resignation to KR Ramesh Kumar, the speaker of Karnataka assembly.

Though the reasons behind his resignations are yet to be announced, it is being speculated that he will soon join the BJP and will be their MP candidate from Kalburgi constituency in the upcoming general elections against Congress stalwart Mallikarjuna Kharge. Jadhav has been particularly opposed to the functioning of Kharge’s son Priyank, who is the social welfare minister of Karnataka.

Jadhav is a two-time MLA from the Chincholi constituency. He has been in the news in the recent weeks when four Congress MLAs, namely Ramesh Jarkiholi, Umesh Jadhav, Mahesh Kamitalli, and B Nagendra had missed the Budget session in the Karnataka assembly defying the party whip. They had also missed the Congress legislative party meeting.

Following their absence even after the party whip, CLP chief Siddaramaiah had announced that he will approach the speaker to take strong action against them. On February 11, Congress had sought their disqualification under the anti-defection law.

Umesh Jadhav was removed as the chairman of the warehouse corporation. The JDS-Congress coalition had alleged that the BJP is trying to bring down the government. Congress had 80 MLAs in the 224 seat Karnataka assembly.

The Congress-JDS coalition has been a ride full of turmoil and mistrust. Many of the senior Congress MLAs have reportedly being upset over denial of cabinet berths and lucrative posts. JDS, despite having only far fewer MLAs, holds much of the power and sway in the government.

When the truth of ‘Aman Ki Asha’ was exposed in the Mecca of it: Barkha Dutt’s show

Ever since the Balakot airstrikes by India against Jaish-e-Mohammad terror camps, the ‘Aman ki Asha’ brigade, spearheaded by Barkha Dutt, is in top-notch form. For some odd reason, as soon as news surfaced that India had penetrated deep inside Pakistan territory to strike at terrorists, instead of revelling in the fact that there were a few terrorists less in the world, the quintessential pseudo-liberal cabal started hankering for peace, playing the nuclear card and hoping for talks between India and the neighbouring terror nation, Pakistan. Hashtag #SayNoToWar trended on Twitter, while #SayNoToTerror became a “Right-wing conspiracy”.

India, however, stood firm. It thwarted the misadventure of Pakistan where they tried to attack our military installations in response to us flattening their terrorist camps and when Wing Commander Abhinandan was captured by Pakistan, India refused to negotiate. Instead, it hammered Pakistan on the Line of Control, refused to let Pakistan create ‘Kandahar like passions’, and eventually, per the Geneva Convention, Imran Khan was forced to release Abhinandan.

Even in this scenario, for the peaceniks, Imran ‘Taliban’ Khan was the hero. Not the Indian state for refusing the budge. But Imran Khan, the chap who has expressed his Taliban sympathies multiple times. Leading the ‘aman ki asha’ cavalcade, was Barkha Dutt.

As soon as the news surfaced, the first reaction of Barkha Dutt was to thank and appreciate Imran Khan and then hope for de-escalation. Of course, she ignored the fact that India’s fight was against terrorism. That Wing Commander Abhinandan’s return doesn’t blur the fact that Pakistan continues to bleed India with “non-state actors”.

As an afterthought, she did mention that India’s key concern was terrorism. However, according to Barkha Dutt, ‘it was time to leave it up to the diplomats’.

Barkha Dutt is a journalist who was earlier even praised by Hafiz Saeed, the chief terrorist of Pakistan and has been a part of track-2 meetings with Pakistan in the past. It was thus amusing that Pakistan’s nefarious designs were exposed on her show, in the Mecca of secularism and ‘aman ki asha’.

In a brand new show hosted by Barkha Dutt, ‘This is Us’, Squadron Leader Wing Commander MS Grewal (Retd) exposed Pakistan and delivered a deathly blow to the ‘aman ki asha’ gang, that wishes to paint the people of Pakistan as doves of peace.

Squadron Leader Wing Commander MS Grewal (Retd) was a prisoner of war in Pakistan during the 1971 war. He had escaped Pakistan’s captivity after a year in prison. He said that Pakistani civilians are worse than the Pakistani army and are deeply anti-Hindu.

He said that out of the several pilots who laid their lives down during the 1971 war, there must have been some who were killed in the same fashion that Pakistan civilians attacked Wing Commander Abhinandan. He said that anti-Hindu sentiments are deeply ingrained the psyche of Pakistanis and that in the video released by Pakistan, it was evident that the civilians were baying for blood, while, thankfully, some army personnel came and warded them off.

He said that when he was a POW in Pakistan, very often he was told that Hindus never ruled India and in fact, it was the Mughals and then the Britishers took over. Civilians hate Hindus, he said.

What Squadron Leader Wing Commander MS Grewal (Retd) said points towards a greater malaise not only of Pakistan but also of Indian ‘aman ki asha’ gang. The ‘aman ki asha’ gang has always maintained that Pakistani civilians want peace and harbour affection for India. They have often reiterated that the conflict between India and Pakistan is political and diplomatic, and not that of Jihad against India.

However, with Squadron Leader Wing Commander MS Grewal (Retd)’s statements, that myth stands shattered. The average Pakistani civilian harbours a deep hatred for India and Hindus alike. For average Pakistan, Indians are ‘Kuffars’ who need to kneel before the believers and Jihad against the ‘non-believer’ is the only way forward.

It is time that India and Indians acknowledge that the issue at hand is not only political in nature but also of deep religious indoctrination that diseases the Pakistani psyche. Unless India acknowledges this simple fact, the war against terrorism or the pursuit of peace would be futile. The fact that this revelation happened in the Mecca of ‘aman ki asha’, was simply poetic justice.

At least four Jaish terrorists arrested between 2014-17 were trained in Balakot terror camp struck by India’s airstrikes: Report

India’s ‘non-military pre-emptive strikes’ against the Jaish-e-Mohammad terror camps deep inside Pakistani territories may have killed a huge number of Islamic terrorists who had intended to inflict terror on the Indian Soil. Interestingly, an Indian Express report suggests that at least four terrorists caught in the last fours years were all trained at Balakot.

According to the report, at least four Islamic terrorists belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad, who was caught by the Indian security officials between 2014-17 were trained at the terrorist camps of Balakot. All the four terrorists, who belong to Pakistan, has revealed to the security forces that they were all trained at Balakot and sent to either Afghanistan or Kashmir.

Waqas Mansoor, a resident of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan who was arrested by security forces in 2014-15 has reportedly revealed that he was trained along with 100 other youths in Balakot. “Mansoor was active in the Valley since 2007 and told us that 40 terrorists who were trained with him were sent to Kashmir while the remaining 60 were sent to wage war in Afghanistan,” a top government official was quoted in the report.

According to officials, Mansoor was involved in two major attacks in the Valley. First, in March 2009 when he was part of a group of terrorists that attacked Army personnel at Lolab near Kupwara, where four army personnel had died. In June 2009, Mansoor was involved in another attack in which six Armymen had died. “Mansoor, upon his return to Pakistan in 2010, joined Lashkar and was trained at LeT’s center in Mansera,” officials added.

The Indian Express report suggests that the Jaish terrorists had undergone different training courses. The terrorists were trained with a three-month advance combat course called Daura-e-Khas and an advanced arms training course called Daura-Al-Raad, officials said.

Another Jaish terrorist identified as Abdul Rehman Mughal alias Raja who was arrested in 2016 had said during interrogation that every terrorist sent to Kashmir was given a code name. According to officials, Mughal’s code name was Romeo and he was tasked to set up training camps in Kashmir. Mughal had also revealed to the authorities that to become a ‘Fidayeen’ or suicide attacker, one has to express willingness and submit it in writing to the camp commander.

Another Pakistani terrorist Nasir Mohd Awain, who belongs to Attock in Pakistan and arrested in Kashmir in 2014, had said during the interrogation that the Balakot camp had over 80 trainers. He was involved in an attack on Radio Kashmir in 2003 in which one CRPF personnel and one BSF personnel were killed, said officials.

The officials reportedly revealed that another terrorist, Mohd Sajid Gujjar, a resident of Sialkot in Pakistan who was involved in an attack on November 3, 2015, at an Army camp in Tangdhar had also received training at Balakot. Gujjar along with Rizwan, Hussain Pathan and Muivah had attacked the Army camp. Gujjar was arrested, while the other three terrorists were killed. “All of them were Pakistani nationals who trained with Gujjar at Balakot camp and infiltrated into the Valley together,” the report cites a senior official saying.

Indian Air Force’s Mirage 2000 fighters had destroyed multiple terrorist camps deep inside Pakistan to avenge the death of soldiers in the Pulwama terror attack. The Indian Air Force had carried out the pre-emptive attack to destroy the terror camps operated by the proscribed terror outfit Jaish-e-Muhammad. It was reported that the IAF jets had pulverised terror camps in Balakot (Pakistan), Muzaffarabad (PoK) and Chakoti (PoK) in the well-planned strike involving a fleet of IAF jets and other military jets.
