Home Blog Page 6015

I was a Modi supporter, but with the entry of Priyanka Gandhi into active politics, I am all for Congress now

I am a Congress child, which means, I grew up watching Congress shred the country into bits and relish the destruction. They were the greatest rulers in the world since Emperor Nero. They fiddled, while the country burnt. But as they say, a Baniya is mostly concerned about their ‘galla’ and hence, for the longest time, I ran my own business. But my heart, that damned heart was more into writing.

I liked the lines of a notepad far more than I liked the dotted lines of the chequebook. I started off with some recreational writing on some blog and then, short commentaries on Twitter. I think I was liked. I like to believe I was liked.

A couple of guys approached me one day and asked me to write for OpIndia. It was a good website and exuded passion. It didn’t have the resources of the left but it survived, somehow. Which is an amusing commentary on its own because a baniya gave up her ‘galla’ to work at a bankrupt ‘right-wing’ portal that believed in capitalism and wrote against the socialists and communists who had all the money in the world to transform idiotic porcupines into Pulitzer worthy writers. OpIndia wanted to be different from the rest, and boy it was.

I got sucked into this job. The passion of it all. The thought of writing to further an ideology that had so far, been abused and branded by the wine sipping elites. I believed in it truly. With all my heart. Quite un-baniya-esque, but that’s how it really was.

Next thing I knew, I got sucked into this job, head first. I became editor of the portal. I became a journalist. I have a new profession now.

I did a good job I think. After I joined, OpIndia became a better brand. It got better rankings and traffic. I have close to 180 bylines and god alone knows how many staff reports. I travelled to Chhattisgarh to interview a surrendered Naxal and that became quite the hit. The Naxal revealed that ‘Urban Naxals’ was not just a term invented by a filmmaker for fun. I broke a story about suspected financial impropriety of Congress leader Kapil Sibal (almost got sued for it and it might not seem so, but that I got threatened and no lawsuit eventually, is quite the victory), we broke the story about Ashok Gehlot’s brother’s fertilizer scam, a financial impropriety story by another Congress guy, I got offered to “meet and settle” (we all know what that means) by someone (whose name I won’t divulge) and I had the courage to say “f*uck off” in parliamentary language and as a brand, OpIndia managed to bring BBC to its knees about their shoddy research and get some other portals to retract their stories. I also erred, and I apologized and made amends when it was pointed out.

I thought we were ok.

But I didn’t get the Ramnath Goenka Award.

And today, I didn’t get even a Padma Shri like Rajdeep Sardesai, Barkha and the other good journalists.

I was failing.

I started wondering. I started looking at the greats in the field of journalism and after observing them for a while now, I have recently realised I don’t have it in me to become a good journalist.

You see, journalists are supposed to be “neutral”, that is, they are supposed to despise the Prime Minister with every fibre of their being. You see, journalists shouldn’t have an ideology other than radical communism and most certainly, journalists are meant to support the very forces that are out to break this country into tiny little bits and sell the pieces off for a neat little profit. They are supposed to look away when politics is taken over by non-achievers simply because they belong to a family. Good journalists are meant to transform themselves into minstrels in the court of the clowns.

Journalists are not supposed to be cheerleaders. They are supposed to ask tough questions like a leaders’ relationship with her mother-in-law, so on and so forth.

Journalists are supposed to love the more charismatic, smarter and more dynamic Gandhi.

To top it all, I had no intention to view the gullible, sentimental, stupid right-wingers as some sort of a stepping stone, just to turn around and spit in their face. That quality, that quality is priceless. It takes one places.

And to make my nightmare just a little worse, I was working hard and not resting on my past laurels. OpIndia was actually thinking about what it truly believed in and not what might fill up its pockets.

My boss would tell me I should get fired because of one thing or the other. Even in jest, it would make me realise that receiving feedback is futile. That my hard work is hardly recognised because my boss is worse than I am.

And then it hit me. What if I actually do get fired? I have made some powerful enemies in the mainstream media and I have antagonised even the Congress, including the more charismatic and less charismatic brother-sister duo. My journalism career would be over. Shattered. Forget the Ramnath Goenka award, I wouldn’t even be able to hanker for a Rajya Sabha nomination like most other GOOD journalists. I would work and perish as a new journalist and never have the chance to get away with idiocy by flashing my seniority card.

Two emotions overpower me right now – job insecurity and a wish to win awards like the ‘liberals’ do.

So here I am. Declaring that I am neutral. Declaring that I actually like the more charismatic and smarter Gandhi (I don’t dislike the less smart Gandhi either). Here I am declaring that she is a game-changer and the Gandhi gene’s gift to humanity (and journalism, yes, journalism).

I am hereby declaring, with all the intellectual, suave English speaking power at my disposal, that I am now a Priyanka Gandhi fan.

P.S. – The Print, The Wire, and Scroll can republish this. You guys rock!

OpIndia Evening Dispatch: Saturday, 26th January 2019

0

In the hustle and bustle of the day, it is only natural to miss some of the biggest developments that impact the nation. The OpIndia Evening Dispatch will catch you up on the day’s event even if you have been busy thus far.

1. Padma Bhushan for Nambi Narayan, scientist whose life was destroyed by India’s ‘secular’ govts

In the 1990s, Nambi Narayanan was one of India’s top scientists, working on the indigenous cryogenic engine. Earlier, India had tried to buy some of this technology from the Russians, but the Americans fought tooth and nail and blocked it.

In 1994, Nambi Narayanan was suddenly accused of being a spy and leaking sensitive rocket information to foreign agents. He was arrested and thrown into jail. His career was over. With his arrest, India’s dream of building an indigenous cryogenic engine was set back by decades.

Nambi Narayanan, who was awarded the Padma Bhushan yesterday. Read more about him and how he was hounded.

2. Fact Check: Is the newspaper clip headlined ‘Rajiv Gandhi’s daughter joins family firm’ genuine?

After Priyanka Gandhi’s appointment as Congress party General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh East, a newspaper clip went viral on social media. The article printed in a newspaper reports the elevation of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra with a rather unusual headline, “Rajiv Gandhi’s daughter joins family firm”.

But is the clip referring to the Congress party as ‘family firm’ true? We have seen several cases of fake newspaper clips circulated on social media. Therefore, we decided to check if this particular news item was genuine or fake.

3 ‘Timing of the award might be misconstrued’: CM Naveen Patnaik’s sister, Gita Mehta, declines Padma award

New York-based author and Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik’s sister Gita Mehta has declined to accept the prestigious Padma Shri award that the Narendra Modi led government had conferred on her claiming that the timing of the award just months before elections may be “misconstrued”.

Gita Mehta in a statement has said that accepting the award at this time will embarrass both her and the government. “I am deeply honoured that the Government of India should think me worthy of a Padma Shri but with great regret I feel I must decline as there is a general election looming and the timing of the award might be misconstrued, causing embarrassment both to the Government and myself, which I would much regret,” the statement said.

4. AgustaWestland case: Lawyer Gautam Khaitan arrested by ED on money laundering charges

Lawyer Gautam Khaitan, a co-accused in the Agusta Westland Chopper scam has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on charges of money laundering. Earlier, sleuths had raided several offices and premises related to Khaitan in the Delhi-NCR area. Per reports, the sleuths have uncovered evidence that Gautam Khaitan not only got kickbacks in the AgustaWestland chopper scam but also in various other defence deals during the Congress era.

Gautam Khaitan has been chargesheeted by both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the AgustaWestland Chopper scam where the direct involvement of the Congress party and the Gandhis is suspected.

5. Twitter suspends young boy’s account after he was doxxed and harassed by AltNews founder Pratik Sinha and Islamists

Altnews founder Pratik Sinha today stirred a hornet’s nest after he doxxed several unsuspecting users on Twitter simply because he did not agree with their political views.

Hours after Sinha disclosed the identities of these anonymous accounts, a barrage of threats and invectives have started being hurled at them, evidently by coordinated Islamist radicals online opposing the ideology professed by these social media users. One of the influencers, who goes by the Twitter handle of @squintneon, has already started receiving threats from online jihadists, abusing him and forewarning him of dire consequences since his identity is now established.

Now, in a strange twist of events, after being doxxed and hounded by AltNews founder Pratik Sinha and receiving death threats by the trolls that were unleashed on him, Twitter has chosen to suspend SquintNeon’s account instead of acting against trolls like Pratik.

6. Fact-check: On Republic Day 2019, Sitaram Yechury lies about the Constitution of India

On the 70th anniversary of India’s Republic Day, many politicians including the Communist Party of India’s chief Sitaram Yechury took to Twitter to convey their greetings to the Nation. However, his message has had a subtle underlying tone implying that the government is not preserving the sanctity of the Constitution which was enacted on 26th January 1950 and in the process, ended up lying and misrepresenting facts.

The CPI(M) chief in his tweet claimed that India, through its Constitution declared itself Sovereign, Socialist, and Secular 69 years ago. This is partially true. India declared itself Sovereign but Socialist and Secular were not mentioned in the initial Preamble of the Constitution. Staying loyal to his communist roots, Yechury also cleverly dropped ‘DEMOCRATIC’ from his tweet.

7. MP Minister fails to read properly, asks the Collector to finish the Republic Day speech on her behalf

On the occasion of Republic Day celebrations in the country, a bizarre event took place in Madhya Pradesh (MP) which has caused huge embarrassment for the Congress party after Imarti Devi, Woman and Child Development Minister, failed to read her Republic Day speech and instead asked the district collector Bharat Yadav to continue her speech.

A video of the incident has been shared by the news agency ANI, has now gone viral on social media, in which it can be seen that the Congress leader Imarti Devi finding difficult to read her speech after which she stopped and said ” Collector saheb padhenge (collector will read)”.

8. Shocking comments from Former Kerala DGP on Nambi Narayanan: ‘Rapists and murders will also get Padma awards next year’

Former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientist Nambi Narayanan has been awarded Padma Bhushan for his exemplary service to the nation. However, reacting to the NDA government’s decision to award Narayanan, Former Kerala DGP TP Senkumar has said that even rapists could get an award in the future.

In shocking statements, former Kerala DGP has criticised the decision to award the former ISRO scientist with Padma Bhushan, while resorting to derogatory abuse and comparing Narayanan with rape and murder convicts. Senkumar went on to claim that giving Narayanan that award was like “a drop of poison in the nectar.”

Family of Chandan Gupta, killed during Tiranga Yatra on Republic Day last year, honoured by UP government

0

Last year on the Republic Day, a young boy named Chandan Gupta was killed in Kasaganj in UP during a clash when he was participating in a Tiranga Yatra. In the Republic Day parade organised in the police line in Kasganj this year, the family of deceased Chandan was honoured by the state government. Sushil Gupta, the father of Chandan, was offered a memento as a mark of tribute by Suresh Pasi, Minister in charge of the district. District Magistrate R P Singh also paid tribute to Chandan.

Following the demands from Chandan’s family, the Minister in charge of the district and the District Magistrate announced that a chowk or intersection in the town will be named after Chandan. The chowk will be called ‘Chandan Chowk’. A Committee will be set up to decide which intersection to be developed as Chandan Chowk.

Along with these, Chandan’s sister Kirti has been offered a contractual job with the government, the minister informed.

Tight security arrangements were made in Kasganj this time to avoid any untoward incident. RAF, PAC and Police force were deployed in public areas.

Last year the members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student of wing of RSS, were attacked while taking out the Tiranga Yatra on the Republic Day through a Muslim locality. The chants of ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ by the ABVP members irked some people of a particular community which sparked violence and resulted in the death of 16 year old Chandan.

Pranab Mukherjee awarded Bharat Ratna because he visited RSS headquarters: JD(s) leader Danish Ali

Belittling the Bharat Ratna conferred on former President Pranab Mukherjee, Janata Dal (Secular) leader Danish Ali has alleged that the former President is awarded the Bharat Ratna because he had visited the RSS headquarters in Nagpur and had praised RSS ideologue K B Hedgewar. “Pranab Mukherjee is being awarded the Bharat Ratna because he visited the RSS headquarters and described the founding Sarsanghchalak chief, K B Hedgewar, as ‘the son of the soil’,” Ali said.

Ali went to the extent of saying that there were more deserving candidates than the former President in the field of politics like Biju Patnaik and Kanshi Ram who worked for the masses. Ali demanded that Sri Sri Shivakumara Swami, the Swani of Siddaganga mutt who recently passed away, should be conferred with Bharat Ratna. “We protest this as Sri Sri Shivakumara Swami of Siddaganga has not been conferred the award. Swamiji was a legend and had worked towards the social welfare of people all his life,” he added.

He threatened the BJP that the party would be taught a lesson by the people of Karnataka for not conferring the award on Shivakumara Swami.

Yesterday the government of India had announced that the Bharat Ratna will be conferred on Nanaji Deshmukh, Bhupen Hazarika and Pranab Mukherjee.

NDA’s former ally AGP now finds support from Meghalaya Chief Minister against the Citizenship Amendment Bill

0

Earlier this month, Assam Gana Parishad had exited the BJP-led government in Assam protesting the Citizenship Amendment Bill. Now, National Peoples Party’s supremo and Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma has also joined AGP’s protests against the bill and labelled it as a huge threat to the stability of north-east.

The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016, which was passed in the Lok Sabha on 8th January, seeks an amendment to the Citizenship Act, 1955, to provide citizenship to the persecuted minorities (Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis, Jains, and Christians) from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.

The bill was met with severe opposition from Assam and other political parts of North-east. It is alleged that the bill is against the interests of the people of Assam, as it will allow non-muslims from foreign countries, mainly Bangladesh, to settle there. They have alleged that the bill is in violation of the 1985 Assam Accords which says anyone who came to the state after 1971 has to be deported.

NPP led Meghalaya Democratic Front, of which BJP is a part too, has already passed a resolution condemning the bill. CM Sangma, accompanied by Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga, had met Home Minister Rajnath Singh and asked him to reconsider the decision regarding the bill’s implementation. CM Sangma had also appealed to CMs of North-east to come out and oppose the bill no matter what party they belong to.

AGP on Friday had led a delegation to meet CM Sangama prompting him to lead the protests against Citizenship Amendment Bill at his residence at Tura.

“The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 is not going to spell disaster for Assam alone. This Bill will be detrimental for all States of the north-eastern region. We can get the Bill cancelled only if we’re united.” AGP president Atul Bora was quoted before the meeting with Sangma. He added that Amendment Bill will affect the ongoing National Register of Citizens drive and alleged Central government of disrespecting the people’s mandate.

Since the passing of the bill, Janta Dal (United) of Bihar and Shiv Sena of Maharastra have already expressed opposition to the bill, despite being part of NDA. The Bill also has united parties which have traditionally been arch enemies. The CPI(M) has been supported in its opposition to the Bill by Mamata Banerjee’s TMC. Members from the TMC and CPI(M), along with Congress and Samajwadi party, had also moved dissent notes to the JPC report on the Bill.

On the heels of large scale protests against the bill, architect of BJP’s rise in north-east and Assam’s finance minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma had said that Amendment Bill is the only way to prevent Assam from becoming another state like Jammu and Kashmir.

Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal has stated that groups with vested interests are spreading misinformation about the bill and it will in no way bring an influx of immigrants into Assam, contrary to what is being spread among the people.

CM Sangma, so far, has not expressed a wish to exit the NEDA like AGP. Currently, NEDA heads the government in all the north-eastern states. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Tripura and Manipur have BJP CMs, while other states in the region are ruled by regional parties which are part of NEDA.

Shocking comments from Former Kerala DGP on Nambi Narayanan: ‘Rapists and murders will also get Padma awards next year’

0

Former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientist Nambi Narayanan has been awarded Padma Bhushan for his exemplary service to the nation. However, reacting to the NDA government’s decision to award Narayanan, Former Kerala DGP TP Senkumar has said that even rapists could get an award in the future, reported The News Minute.

As soon as the name of Nambi Narayan was announced in the list of Padma awardees, Senkumar seemed to be upset and resorted to cheap slur against the scientist saying, “If this goes on, next year, we might hear about Govindachamy (rape and murder convict), Amirul Islam (rape and murder convict) and Mariam Rasheeda (another falsely accused in the ISRO spy scandal) getting Padma awards.”

Senkumar further said that Narayanan should have not been considered for the award as a one-man commission appointed by the Supreme Court is yet to give its decision on the ISRO spy case.

“What is his contribution to the country? He was an average scientist and he took retirement from the ISRO on his own. I would have been happy if the award was bestowed on a young scientist. I was really shocked to hear the announcement,” he said.

Nambi Narayanan had run into a huge controversy during the 1990s when he was arrested on spying charges. He was heading the cryogenic division of the ISRO when he and another scientist D Sasimukar were arrested in the alleged espionage case in 1994. They were held with two Maldivian women on charges of selling space secrets of the country to foreigners.

The case was later handed over to the CBI and in 1996, the CBI had submitted its final report saying that the charges on Dr Narayanan and others were false. In 1998, the SC had upheld the findings and had asked the Kerala government to pay Rs.1 lakh in compensation to Dr Narayanan and others. However, Dr Narayanan had approached the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)seeking justice for the harassment and agony meted out to him. In 2001, the NHRC had awarded a compensation of Rs 10 lakhs to him.

On September 14, 2018, the Supreme Court ordered the Kerala Police to pay a compensation of Rs 50 lakhs for his wrongful arrest and harassment in the 1994 ISRO spy case. According to reports, the court had also ordered a probe into the role of the police officers involved in Narayanan’s arrest and alleged harassment in custody. The three-member probe panel is to be headed by former judge DK Jain.

Narayanan introduced the liquid rocket fuel technology in India in the early ’70s and was the first to build a successful 600-kg liquid motor engine and went on making an even bigger one. He and his team also developed the ‘Vikas engine’ which was used in Indian’s moon mission. The ISRO spy case did not only finish the careers of two exceptionally talented scientists but also put India’s cryogenic engine development programme on hold for more than 19 years.

Modi govt commissions long-range Boeing to bring back fugitives Mehul Choksi and Jatin Mehta: Reports

0

Island countries like that of West Indies, are a safe haven for Indian economic offenders like diamantaire Mehul Choksi and Winsome Diamonds promoter Jatin Mehta, as the country lacks a proper extradition treaty with them. However, reports have emerged that India government has commissioned long-range Air India Boeing to deport these economic offenders back to the country.

Countries like Dominica and St Lucia, provide visa and passports for $100,000 to any person taking haven there. It, therefore, has become, a magnet for economic offenders of India. Jatin Mehta is currently in a self-imposed exile in Dominica and St Lucia, and Mehul Choksi has chosen Antigua and Barbuda as the haven. These island countries also provide free visa travel to 12 countries.

According to reports, sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate have been given charge of the mission. Their prime targets, according to reports, are Mehul Choksi, Jatin Mehta and Nirav Modi. However, it is not clear whether Nirav Modi too resides in the Caribbean islands. Last year, in December, Minister of State for External Affairs General VK Singh (Retd.) had informed parliament that Nirav Modi, is currently hiding in the United Kingdom. It is believed that he will be extradited from the return route from Europe

Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi have been absconding after both were found complicit in Punjab National Bank fraud that surfaced earlier last year. According to the bank, the fugitives had allegedly cheated the nationalised bank to the tune of over Rs 13,000 crore, with the purported involvement of a few employees of the bank. Mehul Choksi surrendered his Indian passport and citizenship to Indian embassy, earlier this month.

The case of Jatin Mehta is also not much different. His firms like Winsome, Su-Raj & Forever Diamonds used to enjoy high credit from India Banks. Indian Banks also issued standby letters of credit, similar to guarantees on behalf of Mehta to International banks, which used to supply gold to Winsome group. However, in 2012, Jatin Mehta declared that his firms cannot repay the debts, as its customers in UAE had suffered a huge loss and were unable to pay him. Banks like Punjab National Bank suffered a whopping loss Rs 1700 crores due to this. In the wake of this, Jatin Mehta fled India in 2016.

Indian investigative agencies have left no stone unturned to bring back the economic offenders and fugitives. Last year they successfully extradited Christian Michel from UAE, for his alleged involvement in the UPA-era AgustaWestland scam. Another success came in the form of the verdict from London’s Magistrate court, when it accepted pleas by India authorities to extradite back Vijay Mallya, wanted in connection with economic frauds with Indian banks.

However, after the video went viral, Devi speaking to the media said she was not well for the past two days. “I was sick for the past two days, you can ask the doctor. But it is okay. the collector read it (the speech) properly,” Devi said.

Imarti Devi is a three-time MLA from Dabra Vidhan Sabha constituency of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. She won the first elections in 2008 and subsequently winning the next two elections to become the Woman and Child Development Minister in the Kamal Nath led Congress government.

However, Imarti Devi in her election affidavit claims that she has passed 12th From Govt. Higher Secondary School of Bhind, Madhya Pradesh in 2000. As per her election affidavit filed, a case under Section 12 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act was filed against her in November 2016.

The original constitution of India as it stood in 1949 and formed under the auspices of Dr Rajendra Prasad and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar can be read here.

It clearly declares India as “SOVEREIGN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC”. Staying loyal to his communist roots, Yechury cleverly drops ‘DEMOCRATIC’ from his tweet. The version of the constitution that Yechury refers to in the above tweet is the 42nd amendment to the constitution, also known as The Constitution Act, that was enacted during the Emergency by the Indian National Congress government headed by Indira Gandhi.

Regarded as the most controversial constitutional amendment in Indian history, the 42nd amendment attempted to reduce the authority of the Supreme Court and High Courts to pronounce upon the constitutional validity of laws. It laid down the Fundamental Duties of Indian citizens to the nation. This amendment brought about the most widespread changes to the Constitution in its history, and is sometimes referred to as “mini-Constitution” or the “Constitution of Indira”.

The tendentious amendment to include ‘Secular’ and ‘Socialist’ in the Preamble was a unilateral decision by the Indira Gandhi-led Congress government since most of the opposition MPs were incarcerated during the Emergency and the amendment was passed without a debate in the parliament.

So when Sitaram Yechury says that this was the constitution enacted 69 years ago, he is simply lying. The amended constitution, he is referring to, came into effect on 3 January 1977. While citing the constitution enacted during the Emergency, Sitaram Yechury also wittingly or unwittingly endorses brazen trampling of the constitutional procedures to enact one’s conceived amendments to the constitution without seeking the opposition’s approval.

It is a bit ironical then that Sitaram Yechury calls for preserving the sanctity of an amended constitution which has been altered about 100 times, mostly under the Congress regime. If Yechury truly intends to preserve the sanctity of the constitution, he should demand the government to restore the constitution to its initial version which was a brainchild of intellectual stalwarts like Dr Rajendra Prasad and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and who were evidently against the inclusion of ‘Socialist’ and ‘Secular’ in the Preamble to the constitution.

In fact, Sitaram Yechury’s CPI(M) is itself not true to the lofty ideal of Secularism. There have been numerous murders of RSS and BJP workers in the CPI(M) bastion of Kerala. If this is not enough, the Kerala Communist chief derisively mocked the deaths of RSS workers, exhorting them to join CPI(M), provided if they remain alive. The communists are also accused of embracing a heavy-handed approach against the peaceful Hindu devotees of Lord Ayyappa opposing the court order regarding the Sabarimala shrine while giving a free pass to Christian padres accused of raping nuns to embellish their ‘Secular’ credentials.

Sitaram Yechury, on the other hand, betrays the symptoms of suffering from cognitive dissonance when he censures the Modi government on following constitutional procedures to legislate laws and policies and ensure law and order. Yechury has often called Modi government fascist and raised the cries of ‘Undeclared Emergency’ to send the country into a frenzy, just because the Modi cabinet’s decisions were perceived unfavourable by him. It then addles the reader whether he supports the Indira Gandhi’s unlawfully amended constitution he cited above or condemns it that controversially added ‘Secular’ and ‘Socialist’ in the constitution. So one cannot help but wonder if Sitaram Yechury really holds the constitution pristine and sacrosanct or just an instrument of political expediency to further his vicious politics.
