The accused persons have been booked by the police under sections 137(2), 87, 123, 64(2), 351(2), 49, 74, 75, 78, and 3(5) of the Bhartiya Nyay Samhita, 2023 and 8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

The accused has been arrested under sections 63, 69, 329(4), and 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Samhita, 2023.

The accused Hamid Sayyed, has been booked under sections 376(3)(rape), 342, 354, 354A, 354D, 323, 504, 506, and 507 of the IPC, besides relevant sections of the POCSO and SC/ST Act

As per the FIR copy obtained by OpIndia, the incident is said to have come to the fore on 14th December 2023 after the victim called her mother and informed her that she was being blackmailed.
