In the wake of the abolition of Articles 370 and 35A and the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir which is now no longer a state, a twisted argument is being made by people from expected quarters.
Yesterday, through a Presidential decree, Article 370 was stripped and a bill proposing bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir was passed in the Rajya Sabha.
Kashmir Reorganisation Bill stripping Article 370 and declaring JK as Union Territory was passed in Rajya Sabha with 125 Ayes and 61 Nos. It is currently being presented in the Lok Sabha.
Pakistan's foreign secretary Sohail Mahmood summoned Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ajay Bisaria on Monday to the Foreign Office over the abrogation of Article 370.
"While Pakistan demands right to a referendum in Kashmir, is it willing to grant the same right to its own disgruntled ethnic minorities?" questioned Mohajir leader.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah slammed Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury for questioning the Parliament's power to amend the status of the Jammu and Kashmir.
