A female ABVP worker was assaulted and locked up in a room in Kannur Polytechnic college for wearing a rakhi.

The accused have been booked under sections 307, 324, 323, 452, 504, 506, 141, 143, 147, 149 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. Several sections of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951 including 37 (1), 37 (3), and 135 have also been imposed against the accused.

The reason behind the attack is not yet known. The police have nabbed the accused and also booked him under the relevant sections of the law. The girl meanwhile has obtained severe injuries on her body. She is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Islamists attempted to impart a communal spin to the case by specifying the religion of the victim.

The PFI goons kicked Shine, tied his hands with cello tape, beat him up incessantly, and also marked his back with the terrorist group's name PFI.

"The victim's mother Kavita revealed that on September 15, her son had gone to the Delhi Government school in Yamuna Vihar like every other day, when he was brutally beaten for looking out of the window by a school teacher," the police confirmed.

The victim girl came to know about the original identity of the accused from her relatives. She was five months pregnant at that time. On confronting, the accused assaulted the girl and threatened her.

Victim Kishan said, "Someone from the crowd also snatched my mobile phone and stole it during the scuffle with me. They even threatened to kill me."
