The residents of the Dukki district of Balochistan are now protesting the killing of coal miners at the Bacha Khan Chowk.

Pakistani senators have expressed strong disapproval of the federal government's recent move to enhance the powers of security forces in Balochistan.

Earlier in the day, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee said that shopkeepers and entrepreneurs have observed a shutter down strike in most areas of Balochistan, including Khuzdar, Kalat, Mangchar, Nushki, Dalbandin, Mastung and Kharan, against state oppression and brutality at the Baloch National Gathering and the imposition of curfew in Makran, including Gwadar.

There are apprehensions among locals that China is frustrated by the Pakistani military and warned it that if they are not capable of protecting Chinese citizens, Beijing will deploy Chinese soldiers in the Balochistan region, further strengthening the world’s perspective that Pakistan is turning into a vassal state for China.

Before saying that the list of such unresolved mysteries is longer, CM Sarma in his fifth question asked about the 2009 joint statement wherein the then-PM Manmohan Singh ended up legitimising Pakistan’s accusations that India foments insurgency in Balochistan. “One whose instructions did Dr Manmohan Singh give a clean chit to Pakistan in Sharm-El-Sheikh?” Sarma asked.

In recent times, Balochistan has witnessed a surge in violence where Baloch separatist groups have specifically targeted outsiders, especially from Pakistan’s Punjab province and China.
