After the under-construction Sultanganj-Aguwani Ghat bridge in Bihar's Bhagalpur has collapsed for the third time in two years, Bihar govt clarified that it was an already damaged portion
The collapse of both bridges has reportedly hampered the connection between multiple villages in Bihar, harming local businesses and access to critical services such as schools and hospitals.
Reports say the crew has been unable to leave due to visa restrictions, a lack of requisite shore passes, and concurrent continuing investigations by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the FBI.
According to locals, the contractor ceased working after a year or two because he was under pressure for commissions and the government failed to pay his dues.
Chief Kevin Cartwright, director of communications for the Baltimore City Fire Department confirmed to us that the bridge had been struck by a large vessel causing it to collapse into the Patapsco River, the BBC reported.
