The police and security forces across the country have taken preventive measures under Section 144 of CrPC to counter violent protests that are allegedly planned in a few cities against the Citizenship Act on Thursday.
After living in India for a few years, Haseena ben had applied for Indian citizenship over a year back. She was granted Indian citizenship on 18 December 2019.
"Announcements were made in the locality since two-three days asking us to mobilise people to protest against the NRC. We were asked to gather on Tuesday," said a protestor speaking to India Today.
West Bengal has been turned into a war zone after anti-CAA rioters had unleashed chaos in the state. Several trains had been damaged, railway stations vandalised and buses have been burnt.
The anti-CAA rioters in West Bengal have been resorting to endless vandalism and arson attacks. DCP Yadav was chasing the persons behind the Sankrail railway station vandalism when a local mob hurled bombs at the police.
