In March 2016, the IT Department conducted raids on K. Govindaraj, Parliamentary Secretary to the then Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah and a member of the Legislative Council of the state.
Earlier the residences of Hurriyat leaders were raided by the NIA as part of an investigation in a terror-funding case and incriminating evidence including letterheads of terrorist organisations were recovered.
The probe which began in July 2017 after the government had ordered a probe into the Pilatus deal. The CBI had begun an investigation into the Rs. 2900 crore Pilatus deal which allegedly involved an absconding arm dealer, Sanjay Bhandari, close to both Rahul Gandhi and Robert Vadra.
